thanks fellers!!

Darson No fit problems at all to speak of friend. very nice kit. the detail is excellent, but the cockpit details seem a little out of scale. maybe i'm just used to dealing with petite PE and resin detail parts. later.

Your 'stangs are coming along great salty and woodbeck. (You take excellent photos salty!)

Mine is almost finished. Decals are on. Had two mishaps that made me want to scream (one insignia ripped and one decal lifted off a day after being applied - I think the snj powder residue has caused things to not stick and given me multiple headaches), but oh well. Hopefully I will put a PROTECTANT coat of future on today and then do panel lines/weathering tomorrow or this weekend if I can be patient enough.

Hope all builds are going well

Saltydog, here's question out of ignorance: there seems to be a 'hole' in the pilot's seat right under the seatbelts (which are amazing, BTW). It kinda looks like an ejector pin mark, but I'm sure that if it was, you would have fixed that. So, what the heck was it for? Looks like it would have been a bit uncomfortable?? BTW, the interior colors/contrasts are awesome. Looks great. Nice pics too!

Jeff, now you got me all curious about when you're gonna have the NMF on it. I'm gonna be checking the forum every few hours thinking there's gonna be an update!! Getting anxious!

thanks all!

Murray its not an injector pin mark, but i cant' answer you question accurately niether because i don't know. like you say, it looks really uncomfortable to me as well. might've been an add on for those "really long" missions!!Tongue [:P]Wink [;)] the instructions mention nothing about it, and they are very concise to say the least. i've noticed that most, if not all connections to the sprue tree has been located in an inconspicuous location so when they're cut free, the sanded area is hardly noticeable. thanks for the kind words. later.

Haey SAlty, did ya check the fit on them AM wings?
Mine are all warpped to h@!$...both top and bottom, one side even has a twist.
Have to put them on the "think" pile for a while until I figure figure out to correct it.....I am worried about the hot water trick, since the last time I did that I actually shrank a fuselage half . Stang looks wonderful so far

Woodbeck: lookin' real good - can't wait to see the masks pulled.

Looks great woodbeck. Your wing joint looks very nice. I had to use filler on mine...did you have some trick??

Well while I wait for the future to set so I can do the wash and some weathering, I was overcome by excitement at being almost done and decided to take one photo and play around with it. Here it is... More will come with better lighting when it is actually complete.

newtothegame -

looking real good!!! I'm working on the Ridge Runner also. Not quite as far along as you are though. I'm just getting ready to close up the fuselage tonight. I hope mine will be looking as good.

that is a sweet build there Leon. your coverage on your paints is excellent. I have never done to much with NMF so its always a gamble for me. I decided to make mine not as shinny as everyone elses.. I plan on a a bit of a weathered look. I got bit my the Acrylic adhesion bug, nothing I cant fix with my eyes closed. I really like the way its coming together for me though. I might try mor NMF's in the future. Gonna play with a few panels in a diff. Alclad when that cures.

Leon - is that black on the upper fuselage? From the pictures that I have of Ridge Runner, some look like black and some look like olive drab. I was planning on painting my Ridge Runner with OD. Anyone know which color is correct? - or are both since there were 3 Ridge Runners?

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments!

To answer questions...the sheet is SuperScale Decan #42-806 (P-51D Mustang Aces European Theater) and the antiglare is black. I wasn't really sure either and from the pictures that BlackWolf supplied I wasn't sure and almost leaned toward OD too, but in the end I decided to trust the decal sheet. Probably a bad choice, but I figured that someone had to know when they made the sheet, right? Question [?]

Anyway, thanks again.

Lookin good there Jeff and Leon..........
I ended up buying the Hasegawa P51 D/K today instead of the Tamiya kit cause it was the only P51 at the LHS.....
Great lookin kit and i'm temted to do the US version cause It's a mighty fine lookin stallion, but the Aussie decals are already orderded so i'll stick with that....
the only gripe i have about the Hasegawa kit is the silly moulded on Seat harness, probably take a couple of hours carefully removing them so i can use the PE set............J.S........

Wow, really nice stuff here!

Jeff - the NMF looks great. Nice job. What paint/color was it again?

Leon - the Ridge Runner is looking amazing. It looks absolutely clean! Very crisp and well done. You obviously have some secrets that you should be sharing!! Whey you apply the future, do you spray it, or brush it? I'm having a bit of trouble spraying it. I have a really hard time finding the balance between a 'pebbly' finish and a 'runny' finish. I've been using a wide brush with much better success.

Leon... that Ridge Runner looks phenomenol (sp?)

Woodbeck... awesome buddy. Unfortunately I sprayed my silver first, I did it before I read that it's better to spray the blue first. Oh well... I'm going to future the silver, mask and shoot the blue and hope for the best.

Well I am done and will post the final pictures a little later today. Thanks again for the kind comments.

Murray, I have had somewhat sketchy results spraying future in the past too, but that is what I did and it went pretty well. If you haven't already read it, give swanny's article "The Complete Future" a read. I found it very helpful. Link below...

Ok here are my final pictures of Ridge runner III. It is Tamiya 1/48 kit with True Details cockpit / tires, squadron canopy, and SuperScale decals. I built it for my friend's birthday.
Thanks for letting me participate in this group build; it really kept me motivated and helped me get done in time for his birthday next week.
