Thanks thar Pard'ner Salty. You askin me who mades then wheels or ya asking what wheels are. Seein hows you bubild houses an such fer a livin I think I know.... Wheels be the round things on the bottom o that thar thoroughbred, the black things that be hanging there Wink [;)]
They are True Details resin weighted tyres, checkered pattern, which is a late war tyre. I like the thinner spoke look of them so I went with it. As to them being on that actual aircraft I dont know, I mighta took some artist liscense there Wink [;)]

Thanks Richard. FOr some reason my original kit Canopy fogged after putting a spray of future on it and I have 2 vac conapies I been avoiding like the plague, but after chatting to Lobby last night he gave me a few tips on it and I cut it out and futured it last night. Glued it this morning. As soon as I get more bateries for the dig cam I'll post it. Putting on the last of the pe little bits and the black strip decals on the wings and shes done.

Sorry, podners . . . Ah'm a-droppin' the aksent. Gettin' tew hard tah keap it goin' !

Got the yellow areas repainted & decalled. I had to add a couple of squares to the bottom af the tailplanes where they meet the fillets with black paint. The wingtips are decalled & masked. I applied Alcad's Gloss Black Primer to the masked wings, and painted them Alcad Aluminum. After the wing decals are applied, it will be dulled with either Metalizer Sealer or Testors Dullcoat to represent the aluminum lacquer painted wings of wartime birds. The fuselage, flaps, ailerons, and wheel covers will receive Alcad Chrome, as Aeromaster's instructions state that this was a highly polished aircraft. The nose and checks will remain gloss, and the wheelwells will be painted White Aluminum. The fuselage panels by the exhaust stacks will be Magnesium. The gun muzzle & ammo panels will be Duraluminum.

Still gots me a heap o' maskin', paintin' & decallin' to do on this here bird.

Pix, that's gonna be an impressive steed indeed. I did this scheme on a 1/72 Hasegawa kit eons ago & it was a pain in the posterior. Looking forward to seeing your finished build.

You guys have just given me the jolt to get over the "blues" over recent events here, and get downstairs and resume building on mine.

Away we go.

shows what showing your "balls" gets you, instead of politely dropping out of the thread, which in my opinion, is what should've happened. when i've had disagreements with people, i would just email them and work it out privately.........works everytime, without confusing/running off other members. anyway, i'm capable of galloping on without the members in question. later.

Howdy, Podners ! Ah'm back wit' sum mo' pics fer ya !

I painted the gun panels & ammo doors with Alcad Duraluminum, and the panels by the exhaust with Magnesium. I had to do some touchup on the wingtip checks that were lifted by the masks. I also had to do a bit of topuchup to the Aluminum here & there. All the unpainted areas will be done in Chrome. the canopy frames & bomb racks are painted (Chrome). I still have to plumb the drop tanks & install the hydraulic lines on the gear legs. The stripe on the lower left wing also needs to be touched up.

Yahoo ! Ah'm a-gettin' thar !

Love the checker tail and wingtips,my RAAFone is kinda boring by comparison,it's just plain NMF with a olive drab anti glare panel and a tricolour spinner....
Speaking of mine i havn't touched it all week cause of the rain, not a drop for 4 months and all of a sudden it rains when i'm in an airbushing kinda moodBoohoo [BH]

Looks really sweet pix. You certainly did a fine job on the paint and decals - waitin' on the chrome, hunh?

Woodbeck - besides the paint job, your landing gear looked good as well - nice work with the cabling.

I just started mine. sanding resin parts, deciding what needs to be modified for PE parts and started on the engine mounts.
3d modelling is an option a true mental excercise in frusrtation

The old ranch seems to have gone a bit quiet lately so I thought I would post a bit of an update on my P-51B.

I had every intention of building this OOTB until as usual AMS set in. Luckily for me it's only a minor case as I'm only putting in one Eduard PE set. So, the cockpit and wheel wells are painted but are on hold for a while waiting for the PE set to arrive. As soon as I have something worth posting, I'll send in some pics. Just don't expect Woodbeck or Pixilater quality work and you won't be disappointed.

Cheers
Darren

I finaly got the decal sheet and colour guide for my stang in the letterbox today, what I thought was going to be a simple build turned out to be a little more of a challenge, there seems to be a mixture of Natural Metal and Aluminium lacquer, also the guide(from Red Roo)tells me to fill all the panel lines on the wings for a totally smooth surface i'm not sure on this so i'm going to have to look into it some more.....
Anyway the A/C is P-51K A68-565 from 84SQD RAAF based here in QLD in May 1945
Progress so far has been a little slow,i have the interior painted just need to do the details, after the c/pit is done i'll post up a couple of pics....
Cheers J.S.....

Whoa Darson that was a compliment. I apprecaite you thinking I make quality work, that made me feel real good bro. But like you I am my worst critic and dont feel I am near quality work. I am learning from Pix and his attitude since his illness. I take it easy, dont count mm's and have fun with what I do. Fun for me is to challenge myself and I try to keep the bar I set for myself attainable. I tyr to do something new with each kit and keep it fun.
Thanks again bro, I sincerely appreciate your compliment.
-Jeff
P.S. she's done folks, waiting to get a battery for the camera so i can show her to ya all. Well I should say done except for the exhaust which I am waiting on Moskit stang exhaust. when I get those I will engine and gun smoke it and throw the exhaust on her. everything else is done.
