Daniel, Julian, Thanks for the comments, really appreciate it.

A lot of guys use the Alclad gloss primer & some use Krylon gloss black decanted from a rattle can & then airbrushed. I do it a little differently because I like to first prime with Floquil grey primer. I then spray it with Floquil Engine black, after a very light wet sand, and then Future. After the Future has cured for a couple of days, I spray the overall Alclad2 Aluminum. I follow that with masking panels & painting other shades of Alclad2 & finally any other colors needed. In this case I used ModelMaster enamels for the Yellow, OD & Red. Clearcoating cuts down on the metallic effect, but it does help with decaling. I usually don't clearcoat over Alclad2, but on this model I did use Future as a gloss clearcoat & then Polly Scale Flat as a final. It gives a more weathered look to the Aluminum.

Regards, Rick

Very nice Thad Thumbs Up [tup]. The captured aircraft in Luftwaffe markings makes for a different looking build.

Salty, somehow I don't think you're going to be last all. I am in a similar boat to you, with all my energy going on a 109 that I am building. My Mustang is still progressing, just very slowly.

That's the old Crimson Tide spirit, Chris. Looking forward to seeing the Corsair as well. I am finishing up a Hasegawa Corsair also. Might have it done next week if I don't over do the Turkey the next couple of days. I love roast Turkey, but always need a nap after I eat it.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Day, Rick

Chris, took a peak at your Corsair over on the Navy GB and it looks great. Coincidentaly, I'm finishing up the same kit. No bowl for MSU. They had some great games, but lost all 3 of their QB's to injuries. Maybe next year. How's the Tide doin overall? I watched them lose a couple on the tube.

Hey everyone - I've got an update on my Stangs! My Monogram D is 90% done, I have to work on the decals and then do some weathering. I've changed from building the Ridge Runner to the Big Beautiful Doll. After seeing fighting joe's Doll I decided to use the kit decals instead of the Ridge Runner decals that I bought.

As for the Tamiya B, I've done the basic paint in the cockpit area and nothing else. I hope to get to work on this kit in the next few days. I'm not sure if I'm still going to do The Salem Representative since I haven't found any aftermarket decals and the Monogram decal that I have is really old and I'm afraid that it's going to fall apart. I might just use the kit decals and build it as Shangri-La.

Everyone's work has really looked good. I hope mine turn out as well. I don't have a digital camera so I don't know if the 35mm photos that I've take will come out very well or not, but I'll try to get some completed pics posted soon. Thanks for letting me share!!

Steve, lookin' forward to the pics. i have a finished BBD on my shelf and she surely does dress it up. can't wait to see yours.

rick, the Tide suffered the same fate friend!! we lost our most excellent 1st string QB in the 3rd game of the season, then our 2nd string QB the 5th game, then, our 1st string running back goes down for the season, then our 2nd, and 3rd, same story with our fullback, then a tight end. so, all of our skill people were 3rd and 4th stringers most of this season. we have 28 people on the injury list as of now, and with all the scholarships taken during the NCAA sanctions, we were hurting to say the least. but, thats football i guess, very frustrating season, but we are bowl eligible and looking at the Music City Bowl or the Independence Bowl. we ended up 6-5 regular season, and hopefully we can win a bowl game. thanks for the comment on the corsair. lookin' forward to seeing yours too. later.

As Darson and Chris have said, all their time has been devoted to other builds and i'm no exception, all my attention has been on the Spit MK1 for the old Guns GB, but happily iv'e only got a few days until it rolls off the production line and then the Stang will recieve all my attention until finished........

Thad first class build mateThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] those markings certainly catch the eye.....

Good luck with the Alclad2. It's really pretty easy, just take your time & it should work out well.

When Mills started hitting those sixes I was starting to worry a bit, but it was a good win.

Well I'm still plugging away on my Mustang but progress has slowed to a very slow crawl. I'm not getting much in the way of bench time for anything at the moment between work, getting ready for our holiday to the beach and Christmas. I am still trying for the deadline but it's not looking good. If I don't make it I will still post the end results whenever it's done.

Cheers
