                        well, well, well.....while ya'all are jawin' 'bout cricket and awaitin' fer the rain to abate, I done finish my philly (with seconds to spare prior to making a pilgrimage to the opposite coast).

                        This is the 1/48th Accurate minature P-51A done up in Col. Phil Cohcran's mount
                        of the 1st air commando in burma during '44. I used the Parts PE set as well as true details wheels, cockpit and the verliden Allison engige and bearers

                        I can now proudly wear me badge

                        I wouldn't mind the extention of the deadline - I'm at the decal stage on the D and haven't gotten much done on the B. The first decal for the Big Beautiful Doll that I tried was horrible - it broke into about eight pieces - AAAAHHHH!!!!. Of course it was one of the checkerboard decals. I'll try the others and see what happens. If they work I will pick up another D (Monogram) and try again. If those don't work, I'll buy a aftermarket set and see how they go.

                        The decals were very brittle for some reason and just came apart once wet. I've decided to paint the checkerboard instead. I've never done this before so it should be interesting. I put on the white on the nose and wing tips last night. I'm going to put a couple of coats of future on and then give the black squares a shot. Still haven't figured out how I'm going to do this:)

                        There is a way to do it with overlapping tape Steve but the tape has to be the exact size of the squares, the only other option is to cut tiny squares and stick them on individualy which could'nt possibly be very much funSad [:(]anyway i can't wait to see how you deal with itThumbs Up [tup]Cheers Jules........

                        Nope....the 99th had a blue/white checkerboard on the nose. As it stands now, this is a 301st FS bird-- if she adds a point to the right side of the red band on the nose, it becomes a 100th FS bird. Sorry-- I have a few books on the Airmen since I built a model for one last year Wink [;)]

                        I hate it when thae carrier film is too thin. Steve, you can repair it by getting the microscale decal solution and overcoating the sheet (it's saved a few sheets for me).

                        The Airmen made it easy in 2 ways--

                        the noses for each were different....the one I omitted (302nd) had red and yellow horizontal stripes. The other way was that their trim tabs were each colored differently-- the 99th had blue, the 100th had black, the 301st had either red or white (I forget and my books are downstairs, and the 302nd had yellow.

                        And it is true that they never lost a bomber due to enemy air attacks...some were lost to ack ack but there was nothing they could do about that-- heck they were one of the few (maybe the only) escort groups that entered the flak with the bombers.

Flying "bomber escort" and ground attack on 15,533 sorties between May, 1943 and June 9, 1945, the Tuskegee Airmen compiled an enviable Tuskegee Record. None of the bombers they escorted was lost to enemy fighters, they destroyed 251 enemy aircraft and won more than 850 medals. Their record was not without losses, however, with sixty-six (66) Tuskegee Airmen killed in action.

                        OK, here's my situation as of today. I got my AM P-51A done and posted awhile ago. Here's my progress on my 1/32 "D". I wasn't happy with the paint scheme on the yellownose so I decided to do one of the kit's "checkertail" birds. Here is the plane after 2 coats of MM "Chrome Silver":

                        i have the kit of INA in 1/72 on the stack, so Bunnie will have some

                        Well at least I got one of two builds done. This is the Tamiya Colt OOB. Shes in the markings of Capt Perrons a/c who was assigned to the 362ndFS, 357thFG. She was known as "Little Bitch"
                        He went MIA in 4/1/44. Just wanted to thank Steve-O for his help in the making of the nose art. Tank you SteveTongue [:P].
                        I had posted here earlier in the regular forum just to show that I actually did get something finished. Well folks, her she is.......
