Thanks Darren. Hope it works out well for you. If it does, I'll take the credit & if it don't it's all your fault Smile [:)].

On my build, got the fuselage assembled, seams cleaned up & wing & tailplanes on. A little clean up & I should be ready to prime it tomorrow.

Regards, Rick

Hey Rick,
Your Mustang is looking great. The cockpit is nicely painted. How did you do the wood floor?

I'm finally getting some work done on my Apache. It's turning out alright, but nothing special. I should have it finished in a few days, so I'll have some photos to show you all.

Thanks Daniel. The wood floor was first sprayed with ModelMaster Tan enamel. Washes of Burnt Sienna & Burnt Umber Artist water colors were layed on & before they dried were streaked using a foam rubber make-up tool I "borrowed" from my wife's stash.

Looking forward to seeing your pics!

Not to badly at all thanks Jules. I have just about finished the interior now so I'll post a photo when it's done.

What about yours, how's it going?

Cheers

It's kinda stalled at the moment, iv'e decided to do one at a time rather than go backwards and forwards between builds, so as soon as all this rain stops i'll finish the Oldguns Spit 1 and then i'll devote my time to the Stang........
BTW are you putting Aussie markings on yer StangQuestion [?]

Jules I sure am. My bird is a Mustang Mk.III from 3 Squadron RAAF based in Italy in 1944. The distinguishing feature of this aircraft is the light blue tail with Southern Cross painted on it. As you know, the Southern Cross is still carried on 3 Squadron Hornets today.

Cheers

Just a quick progress update. The Stang has it's gloss black primer on & cured for a couple of days. Ready to do the Alclad2 tomorrow, so it's moving along pretty well.

Well, my wifes 91 year old Mother passed away this morning after a long illness. Needless to say, my modeling will be on the back burner for a few days.

Here it is. After many weeks sitting on the desk awaiting some work, it's finished. It's my Accurate Miniatures 1/48 A-36 Apache. I liked the kit, the cockpit and wheel well detail is very good, and the decals were pretty good. There were a few fit problems though, the forward fuselage part is to wide for the aft part, the cockpit tub was too deep which stopped the wings going on properly and the canopy is pretty ordinary (didn't fit very well, is thick and not very clear).

The thing that held the build up most was the first flat coat I sprayed, I won't go into it here though, I whinged enough about it a few pages back. Enough of my rambling though, here's the pics. Hope you like them and thanks for letting me share.

A very nice build Dan. Looks real good from here.

Thad & Joe, thanks for the thoughtful comments. I found time to get the Stang painted with the Alclad2. Hope to do the detail painting this weekend.

Just a quick progress report on Detroit Miss. Managed to get the detail painting done over the weekend (why oh why did I pick another bird with Invasion Stripes? Oh well). Let it set for a day & I can get to my favorite part of any build, the decalling. This is when the model takes on the persona of the prototype & begins to come to life.

Ping - that apache looks great. Did you use the PE Parts set for the canopy? And I would like to know more about your painting technique. I really like the OD variation.

Rick: Sorry about your loss.
But, c'mon an' post more picts of this little gem your working on.

On a side note: Let me throw this out at ya'all fer an idea. Since this thread is some 26 pages long, some of the completed builds are lost in the sauce per se. So, when this
GB is done why don't we all post completed picts under a single thread in the AC forum (that way I can look at all the completed stang's without searching through a gazzillion pages)

Frosty, very nice job on the interior & the NMF looks good as well.

wibhi2, I'll try & get some pics posted by tomorrow. Don't want to handle it that much at the moment.

Frosty, your Stang is looking great, what did you use for the metal finish?

Thanks for the comments on my Apache everyone.

I built the thing straight out of the box, so no PE was used. The OD variation was achieved with pastels. I just applied black pastel to the panel lines for a sort of pre-shaded look. And all the sanding I had to do to fix the flat coat gave it some variation too probably.
