Just having fun...

Laugh [(-D]
Taught the airbrush a lesson tonight though.
Laid down the mottle, and it went like a charm!!!Approve [^]

Thin paint, low air, and a non argumentative airbrush is all I needed.

Pledge the model tonight, then decal time.

As promised a pic.......Wink [;)]
I cheated a little and sprayed on some Gunze Gloss instead of pledge, it dries a fair bit quiker, so now i'll give it a few hours to dry and hit it with the hair dryer and maybe stick a couple of decals on........Jules........

Jules you cheaterererer you.
Gunzed it instead of pledging huh.

Well, my pledging didn't happen as planned, so doing that tonight, THEN decal it Sunday.
There is a fair bit of overspray work I have to do on the decals themselves as part of the weathering, 'White 5' was a sketchy and scrappy looking craft!

But hopefully by Sunday evening I'll be flat out into the weathering stage, and all that careful application of paint will be smudged to hell and back.[:0]

I love weathering!!!

Yeah i won't be using Gunze Gloss again mate, it doesn't seem to come out as smooth as pledge.......
But i did get some decals on today, the Fueselage numbers are huge they almost cover ther entire side of the A/C, now i have to put those annoying little one's on, probably tommorrow, I hate decaling, and i'm kinda decaled out for the dayBlack Eye [B)]

BTW i'm sure i know the 109 your building, i can remember seeing one with it's fueselage crosses half painted over... Which JG was it from againQuestion [?]

Gruppe 1/JG53.
Here she is....

There is a nbit of debate as to whether a yellow fuselage band was painted on this aircraft or not.
I'm doing mine without the band.

Even though it's a B&W pic, you can see just how grungy this aircraft appeared.

Not much ore to report except more grinding, sanding, filling and test fitting. Hopefully next weekend I'll get the chance to undercoat. I might even get around to taking a photo or 2. However if my logbook comes through in time I'll be out racing my new car so maybe there won't be much modelling done!!

Hmmmmmmm, might have to do ALOT of research on that one Jules.

It's on the list!

Well, so far I have made the first application of a 3 stage wash.
3?
Yeah, 3.
Reason being, after more searching and cross referances, multiple layers of mottle were applied, hence the cross half painted over, but the main colours barely show through, and for me to make this appear at least half way decent, I need to wash, Pledge, mottle, wash, Pledge etc etc etc.

Between the layer you will just be able to make out the old mottle pattern.
Makes it appear more realistic, and with multiple layers of Pledge, if there is a stuff up, it's easy to correct, rather than strip and start anew.

Might be going over the top a little I know, but I'm on a 109 kick, and may as well make the most of it while I can.

that's great JS!!!! sharp-lookin spit.

I meanwhile, have finished assembling the 75 mm howitzer for the marder and I'll start the body tonight..... The recoil mechanism on the 75 was warped (old kit) so I had to get Tamiya's Pak40 kit off the shelf and "borrow" the pieces from it...

Ah, the pressure..... Shock [:O]

I say again Jules, well donr Spit!!!

Might have a couple of 90% finished 109 pics by Sunday night.
Things aren't running as smooth as they should be, so looks like I'll finish closer to the end date than I predicted.

Thats not good Tanker, not good at all.
Hope the lil' ones get better soonSmile [:)]

Well, finished the second last wash on the 109 this morning, now I have to ass'y all the little parts, give a blending wash, some oil streaks and leaks, flat coat, and finally some smoke and exhaust stains.

Thats the plan anyways.

I assume you mean this F-4.....

I may be telling ya how too suck eggs Jules, but just in case.
From my books the R badge was to signify the Richthofen Geschwader, Gruppes I, II, and III of JG2
Kinda like an Uber JG Squadron.
