Sounds pretty cool. Count me in. I have a P-38 J Droopsnoot that I could do with Japanese colors.

It could work. By that stage of the War, some Germans were abandoning equipment pretty regularly. Then again, if they only went to the Elite (read SS) troops, then it might limit the probability. Still, the maini guidlines for this group build did leave open the possibility of a 'fictitious' subject, since it states:

"4. doesnt have to be historically accurate??????????????"

I'd say go for it. And if there is some historical accuracy to it, I think I'll also look into getting one and building it that way!

Okay, I just picked up an Italeri 1/72 scale T-34/76 at the hobby store I used to work for. I'll be making it German. I also have an Airfix 1/72 scale Panzer IV that I'll be making Russian, and an Airfix 1/72 scale Matilda I'll also be making German. Along with that, I have an M-3 White Halftrack I'm going to kitbash with a British 6 pdr gun to make an Israeli vehicle.

So, put me down for four 1/72 scale kits in this Group Build:

Panzer IV
T-34/76
Matilda
M-3 White Halftrack

Gee, I'll have my own little group build going in this Group Build! Clown [:o)]

So, is this on? Do we have a list of participants? It keeps falling further down the list, so I just want to make sure this will go on.

Rebelreenactor:

I'm certainly interested in getting on board for this GB (if I'm not too late). My submission/contribution would be a Soviet tank captured by the Israelis and converted for use by same (which is common practice). Let me know if that meets the criteria.

Jay, I believe you are doing a Brit plane in Canadian markings yes? Well, on rule #1 it says that the countries can not be allies and I am pretty sure the Canadians are still allies of the brits. Unfortunately , I have to ask you to switch the build (or country scheme) or back out, or it wont count.

gaoler, gotcha, t-72 then yes?

T-55 "final answer" . after a trip to my LHS , I discovered that all they had in stock was the Tamiya t55/t55a kit (item # 35257). So that will be the base kit I will use for the GB. I apologize for subjecting you to proverbial 'musical chairs' in respect to which 'T' I would be building. There will be no futher changes in that respect.

Please put me down for a little Bren Gun Carrier in German markings.
It's an old Airfix #01309 kit in 1/72 and it will be interesting to see what it will look like when it's finished.

Wow, I knew I had a Group Build that was coming up! I'm glad I found this Thread again.

Since I can't do the M-3 Halftrack due to the Israelis still being Allies of the US, I shall limit my Builds to the Matilda and T-34 in German markinigs, and the Panzer IV in Russian markings.

Go ahead and change me from 'undecided' to Yes, with the above-mentioned kits. And if I can find the StuG kit I have, I'll do it in Russian markings as well.

Okay people! Let's kick this one off! Who's gonna be the first to post pics of their progress?!! Wink [;)]Approve [^]

Ok, I'll update the list.
I'm not planning on starting my build just yet. I'm going to also build it for the Mad armored Car GB. But, hopefully I will be able to find some time to get a t-34 in German markings.

Just a small modification for me. I found a Panther G from Hasegawa but no StuG. So add a Panther G in Russian markings, since I already got it started. Oh, and all my kits are 1/72 scale, if you want to add that in.

Incidently, I've already started all four kits, not just the Panther. I've got the basic chassis and turrets done on the Matilda, Panther, and the Panzer IV, and got the preliminary hull assembly done on the T-34. I'll have pics up later; either today, or tomorrow.

So, who else besides me got started already? I can't wait to see who else is working on their projects.

Okay, I guess I'll be the first one to post pics of my work here. The gun has sounded and I'm off; bolting out of the starting gate!

For those who need a recap, I'm building four models for this Group Build all armor kits. They are, in no particular order; a British Matilda, a Panzer IV, a Panther G, and a T-34/76. All of them are in 1/72 scale; two are Hasegawa kits, and one Airfix, and one Italeri.

I started out building my 1/72 scale Airfix Matilda. This will be a captured German vehicle. I started out building the side assemblies that hold the road wheels:

While that was drying, I assembled the turret. Here it is, test fit to the upper hull:

I can't put the tracks on it yet until I get them put together. They are the vinyl one-piece tracks that require heat to hold them. I'd like to be able to paint this one as a unit captured in France during or after Dunkirk. If anyone has any color images of one, I'd love to see them.

Next, I went to work on my 1/72 scale Airfix Panzer IV. This one will be a tank captured by the Russians. I assembled the lower hull as shown here:

While that was drying, I assembled the turret next:

Moving right along, I pulled out my Hasegawa Panther G and started assembling it. This will be another captured Russian tank. I started on this one by building the main hull:

While that was sitting aside and drying, I assembled the turret:

Here is where I've mounted the turret to the main hull to test fit it and see how it works:

Finally, I pulled out my 1/72 scale T-34 tank from Italeri. I assembled the lower hull:

While looking in the box to see what more I could do, I decided that I was too tired and it was too late at night to go on. Hey, in addition to these four kits, I'd also been working on an Su 21F Flagon, a T-54 tank, the two MiG's I'm doing for the Foreign Airforce MiG Group Build, an F-15J Eagle, and my two ships!

By the way, I'd love to know where I can go to see some quality color images of some of these tanks, so I can replicate the markings as closely as possible with the existing decals I have. In particular, I'd like to see a Russian Panther, a Russian Panzer IV, and a Matilda used in France during the German invasion of that country. Thanks in advance for any help recieved.

To see some of my progress on my other builds, check out my other Threads.

Thanks Reb! I've seen that captured Russian Panther, and I like seeing those kind of images in color like that. I wanted to see if there were other different schemes of captured Soviet Panthers out there; perhaps something in a more colorful pattern. possibly sporting red stars instead of white. I appreciate the pic of the Matilda too. I hadn't seen that one. I'm thinking that if anyone has (color) pics of a British Matilda in European colors that were used around the time of Dunkirk, I could at least copy the paint scheme and then add German markings to it.

Yes, I've seen quite a few T-34 tanks in German livery, the question is how I want mine to look. I like the look of one a couple pages back, but that one is the 'Mickey Mouse' hatch arrangement, while mine has the solid, one-piece hatch on the turret.

Black and white pics would be okay, if the accompanying text also described colors, as I've seen in several books.

Thanks again for the assist. I'll also be looking for more sites to see if I can come up with something too.
