I qualify for the Old Guns GB. I am 36 and will be 37 in January. I have a question; since when is 30+ old???? Oh well. I guess I am old enough to know better but young enough to still try to do it! I have the Italeri UH-1D in 1/72 on the desk along with an old Monogram A-4E with full color decals for the USS Oriskany.

ahh, the cockpit is complete. How's everyone? Bummer that kit is oop reg-I wouldn't mind trying it out. I might see if anyone has it lying around somewhere. Time to get back to homework. Anyone have a pre-writen paper about the proto-civilizations of old europe lying around? Later fellas.

Hiya fellas, I was looking for something to do until work so I figured I would make a list of who's in:
armorman
reggiethedorf
ipms33206
03Cobra
fighterguru
tho9900
Homagerman
DanCooper
bstrump
saltydog
A68TransAm-Mustang
fiasco
The list looks good and I can't wait to start. I have been working on the patch and I hope to really have it finished and up soon. How do I upload it to here? I keep meaning to get an account with Photobucket but you can only get in after 10pm. Sad to say I am already counting sheep then. How do people get photos posted here? How did you do it reggiethedorf? I guess I should put a little more time on the Hornet before I head off.. later.

Weather has been good. Mid 70's and all. I am about done with the UH-1D and the A-4 is progressing. Looks like we have quite the participation list. This is going to be fun. I may whip out a F-104 Starfighter here soon. The old Monogram kit. Still can't beat some of those old kits by Monogram. I have my F-14's all lined up and ready for the build.

Lucky, the rain is finally beginning to taper off. I am putting a hold on the Hornet for a couple of weeks from the Nav Av GB to work on a Monogram F-15 that I had shelved for a couple of months. I agree with what you say... this Monogram kit is pretty great.

I have a F-15 I need to do with the Two Bobs WTC Scramblers decals for it. I am putting the decals on the UH-1D now and they are fairly good. Typical European kit decals that they are a bit on the thick side. But Solvaset is fixing the problem. I will send you a photo of my F-4E.

I might as well jump in on this one. I'm getting an Academy 48 F-14A. I'm doing it for the US Naval Aviation build too, Am I supposed to enter the same aircraft in two GB's? It's all I can afford so it'll have to do for both.

Good question Mark. Maybe we can ask RonUSMC. He's got a site that he lets people upload with a group build section. The Concorde guys have some stuff there, I think. BTW, pingtang that would be fine by us to use that Cat. I am estimating at least three months for this GB. Is that enough or would you guys like more time?

I'm happy with a three month time scale. I'm sill in the research stage, have most of my material at hand so I'll be cheating a little and starting the last week of december or so as I have the time of work.

You should check out TwoBob's for the decals and try Eduards PE, both are top notch, reg. I used Eduard PE on Tamiya's 1/48 Thunderbolt Bubbletop. It's quite extensive and they give great instructions. I finally got the Has 1/48 Cat and the TwoBob's decal set for the Jolly Rogers 60th Anniversary. What about mail ordering from www.hlj.com. They are a big hobby company in Japan and I have found them a little cheaper on tools, etc... Check out their website... they have a lot of cool stuff.

I like the 3 month span. It should be perfect for doing two kits. Hobbytown here is having a show/contest this Saturday. I will be there with a slug of models.

3 months is def. a plus as I am notoriously slow. What models are you taking, Mark?

I will take my F-4E, UH-1D, S-3B, CH-53, MH-47, A321, F4U-1, F-102, F-16A+, T-55. These are assorted scales. I always like to take a bunch of models so others can see them. I don't have any way to display them at home right now so as soon as they are done and I take a photo, they go into storage. Kind of depressing! It is almost hunting season and for about 6 weeks, I am busy most weekends, or until I fill my tags!

ive asked the aircraft forums, but ill ask here again too i guess. what dya think will be better? 1/48 academy cat with PE and AM decals, or 1/48 hasegawa cat OOB ? how do the academy decals compare to the hasegawa decals?

I have had no problem with the Hasegawa decals. And not to mention that the detail will be better with the Hasegawa kit without spending a bunch on extras. But even with the extras, the Academy kit might be a bit cheaper. It is a real coin toss!My 2 cents [2c]Big Smile [:D]
