Well, did some more scratching last night, replacing the tail rotor drive shaft with a length of metal.
Had to cut the plastic 'bearing ass'y' off the plastic, and drill the exact centre out of them so the driveshaft would slide in and sit correctly.
Not a big job, but VERY time consuming (read-BORING!
)
But, it really does make a differance in looks, as far as realism goes.
The first bearing won't be glued down till the engine is in place, needs to remain loose for alignment purposes, but the new shaft actually turns, and I was toying with the idea of making the tail rotor turn in unison with the main rotor.
But thats going a tad to far me tinks!
Also managed to attach the rear of the pit, the styerene section I made, this pic shows just how much you can see, and if I hadn't placed it there, it just wouldn't look right.
The gap between the pit wall and the engine is where I have to do some 'creative' wiring and plumbing, and try to make some linkages that 'appear' the part.
I have NO IDEA how I'm going to do this, but will find out shortly.
