Even though it isn't part of the GB, I thought I would add a picture of a Spitfire i'm also currently building. Everyone else seems to be doing one so I thought 'what the heck'. Big Smile [:D]

ok I actually got some modeling in today... got the cockpit partially assembled and the ultracast seat painted for the most part.. right now the side instrument panels are glued to the main IP... just letting them dry overnight and tomorrow the cockpit goes together!!! it looks pretty good inside, a bit sparse of detail but just enough where it counts (where people can actually see in... ) gotta paint the radiator tomorrow and can fit the fuselage just like I hoped for! during the week I dont have a lot of modeling time but enough for sanding and puttying any seams I need to in preparation for the weekend..

I think I already knwo the answer... but the RAAF desert scheme was hand sprayed on was it not? Just want to make sure in advance...

Another option but a more simpler build would be the old Arii or Otaki offering. I have this kit and it looks pretty good to me. I may be even convinced to drop a resin 'pit into it!

cheers

Pingy I would be very appreciative if you could get some pics of the consoleBig Smile [:D]

Tom, I got the missus to sniff the Future, but it did nothing for herSad [:(]
Gonna have to go back to the 'club' if I want any actionWink [;)]

Carl, I have most of those pics, but finding just the right one is the hard partConfused [%-)]

As for the Mk8, I think the Hase kit is great, I haven't built it yet, but have dry fitted most of the major parts, and seems pretty good to me.

Harvs: Love to see some progress pics of the Moz. How do you find the CMK?

I'm glad I seem to have escaped the no-Spit flames. I am looking for a Mk VIII to tackle after the G-10 is done, any recommendations?

Tweets I might be out that way on monday so I'll see what I can do. It's hung in a good place to get pics of the centre console, there's a walkway that passes right in front of it.

Tweets, glad ya got it finally! Hope it was worth the wait, but it sounds like it was! Just a little tidbit here: dab a bit behind each ear tonight before bedtime and see what happens! Wink [;)] The stuff's got magical powers! The missus is bound to buy you that Defiant herself! Cool [8D]

Well I am out of my modeling slump but also out of time to build this evening... maybe will get a bit done on the Typhoon seat and cockpit tonight... found out my package with the tires and intake will be in tomorrow.. so want to get as close to being able to close the fuselage (and therefore insert intake) as I can before Sat when I will actually do it...

Mind you, I never really liked fitting inTongue [:P].

Pingy, the engine thing I reckon I got covered, just make it stupidly busy, and no one will be the wiserWink [;)]
BUT, if there is any chance of getting a decent close up of the centre console, that would be great, nearly alll the pics I have have a nice big reflection from the camera flash in them.
The front of the console I have covered, it's the rear with the wiring that I can't really see in any of my pics

Hey, and it's only five letters to type instead of eight. Party [party] Should save some of the slower typers out there a few minutes.Wink [;)]

Tweets There is a a Bell 47 at the Nowra museum of flight. And seeing as though I live not far from it, I might be able to go and take some pics of it for you. Only problem is, in standard museum fashion, it is hanging from the roof. So unless I wear stilts into the museum I won't be a ble to get many shots of the rear. Have a look at this, it is about as good an angle as you can get of it:

http://www.museum-of-flight.org.au/amof-layout/bell47g.shtml

Let me know if you want me to go out there and get some pics.

Tweets

I got mine in the US when I was on holiday. You ought to try brush painting it!!

Future has amazing self levelling properties meaning no brush marks!

Have fun with your bottle and do not snort too much, especially the stuff with the flat base added!

cheers

Big thanks and appreciation to Tom(aka-Top Geiser) for sending it, and to Darren(aka-Another Top Geiser) for forwarding it on.
Bow [bow]Bow [bow]Bow [bow]

They should build a small shrine to both of you, nothing big, just sumtin out the back, lil bit o' gold maybe, small elephants, that sorta thing.
Or at the very least decicate a coffee cup to ya's........................yeah............that'd work.

Anyhoo, this stuff smells real nice, damn sight better than Pledge thats for sure, and isn't anywhere near as cloudy in appearance.
Going to test it out on the Bell canopy, as soon as I can find something big enough to dunk it in that is (missus gets cranky if I use here TupperwareBlack Eye [B)])

Now I have to train myself to spray all over again, and remake my batch of ultra flat coat.

Man this stuff smells nice.................................................................................................Dinner [dinner]

I just finished ass'y on the frame work for the tail section, and that had ALOT of flash and misaligned mouldings on it.
But I will paint it up this weekend, and then the scratchbuild will begin, as the engine mounts the same time as the tail to the rest of the pit.

Ah, fun and games!

Bandha Boy I'm gonna lose my virginity soon. Talking about spitfires here, just in case you were wondering. I've got a Mk.1 lined up for the battle of britain group build.

How about a 'Spitfire Virgins' Group Build? Given the traditional meaning of 'spitfire' it's a nice oxymoronic title. As long as I don't count my efforts as an 8 year old, I'm in.

Dave, are you using any aftermrket goodies on the mozzie? I did a 1/72 NF some months back & am kinda nervous about tackling masking one of those canopies again.

I surprised myself on the weekend. I was running a modelling camp for some Air Force cadets and actualy managed to get some more work done on the cockpit and camera installation of the mosquito. I managed to paint up a bit more and of the cockpit and am getting just a little bit closer to installing it. YAY!!!! Big Smile [:D]

Ok, heres a peek at the engine for the Bell so far.

And this is what the real thing looks like

You dont have to be a rogue scholar to realise the factory stuff just dunt cut it, and because of this, I have my work cut out for me to and even come remotely close to the real thing.
Gonna love every second of it too!!!!!!!

a whopping amount of progress this week... I actually got the ultracast seat painted... and then promptly dunked in the castrol super clean to get it fresh again as I decided the harness paint was too thick... but man those seats are sharp!!!! I can't wait for the intake and dust guard and tires I ordered as well...

I guess there is no hurry as I haven't got those in yet... in fact I might switch over to my A6M2 for the midway build as it is a simple kit and shouldnt take too long... no AM bits for that one...

Been in a sort of modeling slump lately... really wanting to build something but not having the energy to do it when the time comes... maybe it's that bottle of Future I brought to work... I've been nipping on it here and there when no one is looking and I am coming home with a hangover... yeah! thats it!

---edit---

I only have one spit at present.. the 1/24 Hobby Craft one and it looks to be fairly detailed... I really can't wait to latch into it but need some more paints as I am almost out of RAF interior green...
