                        The 1:72 one in my sig is about 300mm long with a rotor span of 400mm. So halve that and we are still looking at a sizeable Rotodyne!

                        This would have been a revolution in short leg transportation if it was not crushed by British beaurocracy of the day. The US army and marines were ready to license produce (Kaman) it for operational use. Several airline companies were keen as well. So I just extended the facts a little to produce my QANTAS what-if. Essentially at time of it's cancellation the Rotodyne was ready fro production, all problems ironed out.

                        Well I am waiting for my kit and have got the decals already so after I get my two curent projects more advanced, I will make a start!

                        Oh yes, a 1:144 Rotodyne sitting next to my 1:144 ANSETT 737 would be the ducks guts Big Smile [:D]

                        My third Rotodyne is already planned. RAAF transport in one of the early experimental Caribou/Herc camo's the RAAF trialled. Wing tip fuel tanks and 5 bladed props...

                        Jules, without giving my age, I must say that I have seen this livery on a Sabre and it did look impressive.(Big Smile [:D]must have been impressive its an aircraft an I can remember it after all these years).

                        I have finally managed to start on the Mosquito PR16 again. I have achieved more yesterday that I had after a couple of weeks last year. All that resin was driving me crazy and I guess I just needed to have a break from it! The resin engines of the CMK conversion sure adds extra weight on to the kit, combined with all the rest of the resin it will be a very heavy model at the end of it. I should have a few photos on here hopefully today of my progress.

                        A drum roll if you please!!!! tonight I start on the Typhoon... I am 98% done on the Martlet and need to find mine, or buy some more antenna wire... the SBD just got futured over most of the decals and the one straggler just got more microsol as it was silvering... then it is the prop, bombs, dive flaps and canopy and I am done with it! (of course it is waiting on antenna wire as well)

                        hoping this Hasegawa kit is a good build! and can't wait to break out that ultracast seat out!!

                        they do get addictive, I have a growing section of my stash dedicated to them. The Revell 1:144 Hunter is sublime and even the limited run Ozmods kits of the Panther and Sabre are fantastic....

                        They are cheap too Smile [:)]

                        ok I had to wait to reply to this Mike... I got it out of my system! I have too many builds as it is and I think if I started doing the 1/144 thing I might get hooked hahah... as it is the few 1/72 kits have me scared so maybe it's for the best!!!

                        curse you Mike!!! you had to tell me about that... now I have to check that one out too hahaha...

                        got my Typhoon in today, along with the ultracast seats... VERY nice quality!!! I can see this will be an ongoing thing to use those seats... much better than any resin cockpit kit seats I have seen yet! also got the decals and the paint so all that is holding me up is the Martlet from the BoB build, and a few bits on the SBD for the US Naval Aviation GB... then WOOOHOOOO!!!!

                        Nice looking kit with some nice exterior detail... didn't look hard at the interior but at least it had dials on the IP instead of flat with a decal for it! might go ahead and buy the PE tomorrow as well when I order the filter for it as with that canopy (car door style) you should be able to see inside fairly well...

                        hopefully tomorrow I will at least be able to take the pieces out of the box and test fit them!!!

                        The beauty of a Sabre in 1:144 is that it is an overall NM finish and thus pretty simple to apply. The canopy is one piece IIRC, so the only detail change is removal of the top and bottom gun troughs. At the scale it is, that is all that is needed to make it a CAC Sabre.

                        You should see some of the progress builds in 1:144 on Aircraft Resource Centre. One bloke is adding full detail to a 1:144 F-5E Tiger II, amazing stuff!

                        Carl, thats funny... I am glad I heard that as I was very tempted to get a 1/144 kit the other day.. albeit it was a PBY so it wouldnt have been REAL small... but still. I might have been more tempted to try and add to it...

                        I got the decals and paint for the Typhoon today from squadron... which means the kit should be here in a day or two from great models... (they always take longer to ship than squadron for some unknown reason... bigger selection though which is a plus) I also got another Wildcat to do a Martlet Mk.3 from N Africa for the N Africa build... funny, first I really knew about the Martlet was the BoB GB... now I am finding more and more reference to them...

                        1:144 has to be some sort of S&M process. I was buying something cheap to practice on (when my new airbrush eventually arrives) & picked up an A-10, thinking it was 1:72. Got home to find my first 1:144. I promised I'd keep it rough as the idea is to use it as a paint mule, but I always get sucked in & start fiddling. At that scale you either go mental getting into the detail or else find it much easier to leave things be (I'm still finding out just where I'll fall).

                        I have another project in mind to add some flavour to my entries in the GB. Just need to visit my decal supplier and pick them up...How does a Trumpy 1:144 F-86F-30 converted to a CAC Sabre sound?

                        At 1:144 only the gun arrangement would need to be changed!
