I just picked up the mag from my local shop thanks for the heads up on the article , there's a great pic of the P-40N kittyhawk (WATCH MY FORM) on noemfoor island in 1944 before it crashed in 1945 but it doesn't say who the pilot was when it crashed.(decals supplied with kit).

I have ordered the decals for Wing Commander G. Atherton "Cleopatra III",P-40 so when I get it , I'll decide which decals to use , the ones in the box or the ones ordered..see what happens.

good point madmike.

QUOTE: Speaking of Kiwi's why don't we make the next GB after this an ANZAC GB,there's a nice P-40 in RNZAF i would't mind doing.......
Jules.........

Thanks to all those that have replied and welcome to the group build, looks like once again it could be a good one.

Tom (tho9000): Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to wild and wonderful world of mad Aussie modellers, keep looking for your subject, I sure that you will find one. Also remember there are people here that will help you, all you have to do is ask.

Jules: I think your idea of a six month period for the group is a good one and if it is planed right we could maybe go ahead with the ANZAC group build during the second half of this year.
Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Well, naturally I'm in.
And a 6 month building window is sensational.

I'll be looking at doing the Vampire, kinda love the look of that ugly duckling.
And might check out a biplane of some sort.

This is gonne be alot easier than my first effort, unless I can find a resin kit somewhere.................

Mike - In the latest issue of Aero Australia (Issue 4) there's a pic of this machine. There's also an article on Atherton with a few pics of his Cleo.

For those still looking for a subject, this issue might be a help. It has a feature on RAAF fighters of WWII and another on modelling Oz airliners.

well I thought I had my craft.. I've got a T-6 SNJ waiting to be built and thought I found Aussie markings for it but they are 1/72 and the model is 1/48... so back to the drawing board... I was looking forward to building that as RAAF too!

Glad to see you join this GB!

This will fit in well for the club's April Aussie "out of subject" competition!

Put my vote down for an ANZAC GB for 2006, I can do a Kiwi Skyhawk!

cheers

I'm definitely in on this one. Put me down for a RAN A-4 Skyhawk, I've been meaning to do one for ages so this will be a good excuse. And for the ANZAC build I'll do an RNZAF one (I love Skyhawks). I've got heaps of time to get a kit too, which is good on my limited budget.

I''m jumping in. Currently researching the Mirage & found that the IIIO had a stretched fuselage apart from other cosmetic mods, so that rules out converting the IIIC kit on the shelf. I've just ordered the Hiplanes BAE Hawk kit , so that'll be the one assuming the kit fits the bill.

Other considerations, a Spit, this can wait. as I've got a Bf109 waiting - I like a bit of variety. My grandfather flew a Camel in the big one, so I don't want to tackle that until I feel I can do something special with it.

I certainly don't have any issue with that. I would be great to do an ANZAC GB in 2006.

Put me down for the Classic Airframes 1/48 scale Meteor F.Mk.8 (early) in the markings of George Hale's "Halestorm" Korean War MiG killer from 77 Squadron RAAF.

Welcome aboard Tom. Jules Harrison is your adoptive father eh, Tongue [:P]

I'm in! Jules (j.s.harrison) invited me so I guess he is my adoptive father... (taking a minute to let that sink in haha)

I'll most probably be doing a SBD-3 or 5 in RNZAF colors from 1944. (complete with nose art, printer willing) If that doesn't qualify I will have to search, but I seem to remember about a B-25 squadron flying from Darwin or somewhere nearby engaged in ASW... Willl let ya know.

Looking forward to it! This is my first Aussie A/C!! I am excited... read lot but havent built one of these yet...

All Subjects - Aussie Group Build 2005
Posted by South Aussie on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 8:36 PM

To offically start the 2005 Aussie group build, here are the rules.

2005 Aussie Group Build Rules

1. The group build is open to Aussies, Kiwis and adopted Aussies regardless of where they reside. Modellers may join the group build at any time or enter more than one model providing that they believe they can complete their model or models by the 30 Jun 05.

2. The model can be of any scale and is to be from one of the following classes;

a. Any military vehicle or equipment, aircraft or ship that has been or is currently in service with the Australian Forces. Must have Australian Markings.

b. Any civilian vehicle, aircraft or ship that has been or is currently in use within Australia. Must have Australian corporate or private markings. In the case of touring cars on the australian circuit, team markings will be accepted.

c. Any Fiqure providing it is of an Australian subject.

d. Any Diorama or vignette depicturing an Australian subject.

3. The completion date for the group build is 30 Jun 05. Start date is 26 Jan 05, models are not to be started before this date.

4. Modellers may post photos of their model at any time, this includes progress photos. Photos of models completed after the completion may still be posted.

This group build is to be all about enjoying modelling, sharing with other modellers and showing the rest of the world that modelling is alive and well in Australia. To assist with this please feel free to post photos of your model in the appropriate subject folder highlighting that it was built for the Aussie Group Build.

Also could all those taking part declare the model or models they are building in this thread or email me to let me know and I will keep an up to date list that I will post on a regular basis (this is so we don't have to go sorting though all the back pages looking for it)
