Actually she's ben pretty good lately, got me a bit scared.

I'll bet she's gonna hit me with something massive for her Christmas order.

I dropped the hint I wanted the Defiant for Christmas, so she did a search on the net and said $25 bucks for a kit was ok.
I pointed out to her I wanted the 1/48 CA kit, she searched again, looked at me and raised 1 eyebrow.

I'm probably getting a paintbrush, and thats it.

That is heading up pricewise with the Fisher Models 1:32 Panther and Cougar. I want each, but I know I will never get them as they are way out of my price range!

BTW, they are AU$250 including postage!

so you may want to check and see if Italeria make one

Paul you are quite welcome to join in the ANZAC build. At present time the ANZAC Group Build is only at a discussion and planning stage. Keep your eyes open in both this and the Aussie modellers thread for future details. Any input you have into this build will most welcome.

Count me in for the ANZAC build ... Personally, I'll be using the GB as a good excuse to continue my personal collection of RNZAF aircraft. Got a few on the shelf waiting for such an excuse. I will keep an eye on this GB as it progresses ... Good luck guys

Oh yeah this is the 100th post

Had a bit of a look around for New Zealand armour in WWII and they pretty much used Valentines, Stuarts and Universal (Bren) Carriers until about half way through the war when the Kiwi's left Africa for Italy. From the little that I found, from then on they used the Sherman III, Sherman Firefly IC, Sherman Firefly VC, Sherman M4A3, etc, etc.

There seems to be quite a few really good reference pics available on the web, so if you're planning on doing a mid/late war Kiwi tank you shouldn't have too many problems.

For myself, at this stage I was thinking of either a Grant or Matilda for Nth African build and ANZAC builds with maybe a Kittyhawk thrown in for good measure for one of them.

A good book to get is Australians at War isbn no186503865-2, it's 365 pages of information going back to the Boer War and is available from the Warehouse for $20.00

Mike, I think the models should be based on military subjects that were used by either the Australian or New Zealand forces since WW1 as this was when the ANZAC was created.

Tweety, Im not sure what the New Zealanders used in the way of armour during WW2, but the aussies used Matildas, Grants, M3 Stuarts plus a few captured Italian tanks in the desert.

boy, you Aussies are gonna keep this South Texas boy busy! First mention of a N. Africa build which immediately caught my eye (found a Fi.56 this weekend I might use for my very first dio ever built just for that GB) now an Anzac build... and I have been doing my homework on aircraft and might be willing to have a go at that one if possible...

on a side note I just picked up a copy of "Pacific Fighters" from Ubisoft... a WWII Combat Flight Sim (same people who did the IL-2 Sturmovik series) and I was pleasantly surpised to see both the RAF and the RAAF included as Air forces you could fly for... right now I am still in a Beaufighter as it is early in the war... but on the box or in the opening screens they showed a beautiful shot of a B-25 with RAAF markings coming in low over a mountain... this company seems to go for more of a historical aspect as well as the commercial one... there's about 8 different Af's you can fly for... RAF, RAAF, IJN, IJA, USN, USMC and some others I cant remember now.,.. those are the only pilots I have started so far... it's worth a peek if you are into flight sims!

I'm not really up on it either Tweety but i already have my subject, It's a Chevy truck operated by the Kiwi's in North Africa as a part of the LRDG and it even has a Kwi bird decal on the front of the bonnet........

Well, I'm not really up to date with Aus and NZ aircraft and armour (no shock there), so if anyone could give me some pointers, I was kinda thinking I might give some armour a go, only ever made 2 tanks and a multitude of a/c, but what do we/they use?

I'm aware of the leopard tank, and thats about as far as my armour knowledge goes.
Is there anything NZ used that Aus didn't?

Mike i was thinking all subjects from WW1 to present.....
I think considering it's an Anzac GB it must be anything that served within the Australian and New Zealand armed forces from that timeframe

BTW i no one has any objections i was thinking that the 2nd badge is the one to use.....

Those build dates are excellent, yes there is an overlap, but thats better than having a gap!

Well i dusted off the old ICM Spit8 and had a good look at all the sprues and test fitted some of the parts and it's certainly going to require a little bit more filler than the Has kit.
On the other hand the detail is excellent especially in the pit and the wheel struts, although i'm gonna have to do a little bit of scratch building in the engine area, add a few wires and things like that

Your suggestion on dates for the ANZAC build have got me thinking along similar lines, a start date of 25 April 05 would coincide with the birth date of the ANZAC with the finish date of 11 Nov 05 would coincide with the end of the war and include both of these important dates.

Although this will be starting while the Aussie Group build is going I don't think this will be a problem as the time factor for both builds who would allow it.

Be interested to hear from all those interested.
