Jules, too late I already came up with a name for him before I read this but that is a sharp one! In fact if I can convince the wife maybe it could be changed... I saw it in the BoB GB but after I've thought about it a bit it is kind of sticking!

Sean had the bright idea about the gas in the AC... he's always thinking of things to get us in trouble... I suppose maybe he was the one who put the foam bits in the popcorn bin as well...

Much the same. I use a number of different shaped needle files then wet and dry to get a good finish. Any surface hollows or holes I fill with Tamiya putty or similar. I always prime with an automotive primer (Duplicolour) before adding the top coat.

I've already asked them the question when I ordered the 1/72 set , they advised me that they will redo them but not in that format ..

hmmm maybe Dingo??? I already have a half Blue Heeler... (half Blue Heeler, half "yellow dog the jumped over the fence so I couldnt identify him" haha..

he is a good one though.. definitely a Daddies boy....within 15 minutes of getting him home he was folowing me around like I was his lord and master.... of course this has the missus in a bit of a tiff....

Well no modeling done today.... went and picked up a dog... it's a bassett hound and as of yet it has no name.. maybe yall could suggest something...

I was really stuck on it... my wife thought it horrible to suggest you all should name him... I think it a great idea! (as long as Sean doesn't poke his nose in here... who knows what he'd come up with???? Wink [;)]

For a wash that just zooms into panel lines, use lighter fluid as a thinner - it's magic. Artist oils will dry in no time with this stuff & you can go straight on to whatever's next.

Jules: the fairy floss thing was YOUR idea if you remember right... and so was the sausage on a stick idea you had... good thing we didn't go through with it! We'd have the health dept down on us in a snap!

For those asking about the nose art for the SBD I posted awhile back (RNZAF markings) here is a set from Aeromaster covering several plane types... it has 4 SBD markings in it, all with nose art but not the stomach with the liqour one...

It's a bit expensive ($18.50 US) but has markings for about 10 to 12 AC I am guessing... PBY's, P-40's, F4U's etc... I bet if several of you found things you wanted to build in there you could split the price on it...

Mmmmm .... A Vampire??? One of my earliest memories as a kid was as the RNZAF did a flyover of NZ with their last Vampires. NObody had heard of noise pollution back then Big Smile [:D]

!! Might have to keep my eye open for that kit when its released. Maybe a candidate for the ANZAC builds??? Just have to find some RNZAF decals to make it truly complete.

This is probably too late for this round, but I see that Classic Airframes is releasing a 1/48 Vampire, which looks fairly tasty:

Not sure if the RAAF used the FB.5 but it's nice to have a decent kit when we have lots of real samples in museums around the country.

Car-Bog is Automotive Putty.

It can be either polyester putty (similar to Tamiya putty) which cures by a solvent reaction. Must build this up in layers with sufficient curing time. Can shrink slightly too when curing.
The second is my favourite, 2 Part Putty. That is a putty and catalyst. This cures by a chemical reaction induced by the catalyst. Curing is very rapid and the product is sandable in 10mins, and cured in 1/2 hr to an hour. If you look at the BA Falcon in thread in my signature, part of the rear end is sculpted with 2 Part Putty.

I have both Future and Superstride at home. Superstride has a milky look to it but applies and dries clear. Having used both, I can certainly say that both Future and Super Stride are exactly the same once on the model. I fact of kind of prefer Super stride over Future.

I went and checked Pledge out once Swanny had done his research and a whiff of the stuff put me off for ever. Incidently, Steve Evans of Hawkeye has announced he is importing Future soon.

And no I wasn't going to call you strange tweety! At least they still let you go on the Happy Acres field trips! I'm confined to the compound during those events... something about when we went to the county fair last year and I got in the wreck in the bumper cars and cursed out the teenager who was running the ride... He didn't know those things have a governer on em and when you take it off ....VROOOOM.... not my fault!

I always put a brace of some sort across any large join anyways, mostly fuselages, I just don't trust a join that goes the length of anything.

Pledge behaves almost the same as Future when you apply a wash over it.
With Future, your wash 'wicks' along panel lines really well, with Pledge it sorta follows the line, but takes some coaxing(?).
Reason, Pledge isn't a true acrylic finish, whereas Future pretty much is.
Pledge once cured, has a bit of 'grip' to it, so it will hold onto your liquids a bit.

Can't wait to do some hardcore detailing on this Bell 47 Big Smile [:D]

I reckon it's gonna take more skill to make the cockpit of this helo to look spiffy, then it did last time for me to make the Sabre!!!!!!!!!!!

Darren; found it today at the SA Hobby Centre, didn't have enough cash to buy it outright so I put on layby till next payday.

Bandha Boy, not quite sure how the Hudson versions work. Know that they were used as light bombers and aircrew trainers but thats about all, guess I might have a little research on the Hudsons.

South I didn't even know the CA Hudson was still available, where did you find it?

Also, if anybody is still looking for an idea, I noticed that Italeri have released a 1/48 F-4 Phantom with Aussie markings included.

Finally decided on a model, will be building the Classic Airframes 1/48 Scale Hudson Mk IV although I will not have the Kit until about the 5th of Feb.
