So being such an old tart in matters Mk VIII, which is the best 1/48 kit? I see that Eduard's products are for the Hasagawa Mk V & IX and the Academy Mk XIV but their Mk Viii stuff is only for an ICM kit.

I agree with ya Bandha.
I was trying to find PE for my Mk8, but it all suits the ICM, and I'm still toying with the idea of getting it and trying to adapt it to the Hase kit.
While the detail in the Hase is ok, I would like to put a bit more into it to improve things.

I have an aversion to OOB builds, must be the water here!Wink [;)]

Ok here's what i'll do, seein as i have both the Has kit and the ICM kit i'll pull them out of the bags and compare parts, maybe i can give you some sort of idea as to whether the AM parts for the ICM kit will fit into the Has kitBig Smile [:D]I'll post up a pic or 2 so you can have a look for yourself, but i can tell you now the c/pit floor is definatly different.....Jules.....

ok got my first kit lined up for this build... the RAAF PV-1 Ventura .. found the decals today. Nice little early war Med bomber... now I actually have to get my hands on the kit... which was IN my hands just this weekend and made me think to check for decals tonight!! I plan another one but have been burning to line something up...

Wonder if I can find the RAAF decals for the 1.72 or 1/48 T-6? (have both kits) I think I saw them somewhere...

Tom which manufacturer makes the Ventura, I've only come across a multimedia kit which is very expensive.........
If you get stuck on Decals let us know and we may be able to help you out, there are quite a lot of companies here in Aus that make Decals for Aussie modelling subjectsThumbs Up [tup]

Jules,

I saw a Ventura in the LHS just yesterday. But given it was in 1/72 I wasn't interested. Try www.vaggshobbies.com.au - it was on their shelf yesterday.

Thanks Paul i had a quick lookThumbs Up [tup]like most A/C modellers I'm not really interested in 72, they kinda look odd in a feild of 48.......
The only A/c i have in 1/72 is the Roden Felixstowe F2-B WW1 flying boat which is fairly big with a wingspan of 40cm all with a horribly complex rigging system......
cheers Jules.....

I built retaining walls last Christmas and have nearly fifnished repainting the study and bedroom this Christmas, would that qualify as a completed project for this GB?Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]. Maybe we should have a "house maintenance" group build!!!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

There's a thought!!
Maybe if we start renovating and airbrushing the house, the drago.........erm.........loving wife, will nag us to go and build stuff from plastic!!

It's worth a shot, 'cause the current state of affairs is looking pretty shaby indeed.

If we took it a step further and started air brushing the house in full camo colours, the Mrs would positively encourage us to get back to the plastic Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Right after she over sees us remove previously applied camo with a 50ml bottle of thinners, and a small folded tissue.

Gernan panzer ambush pattern is prettier, perhaps the "autumn" look would suit her plans for the lounge room furniture!

cheers

Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]

Reckon you'd get in trouble for that!
Sif grey and autumn don't clash

Cossack Stealth radar black would be cool, but every time it rained your house would stick out like a sore thumb.Thumbs Up [tup]

I'd like to know who did the R&D on the 117 paint.
One would think coating a STEALTH plane in water soluble paint would be a BAD thing.
