Yeah fellas i used the pollyscale paints on that MK-8 Spit for the last Aussie GB and i'll also be useing it on the next Spit, It's a good paint to A/B with but that comes at a price, off the top of my head i think i paid about $6:00 per bottle including postage and yes i ordered them from Snowy Mtn ModelsThumbs Up [tup]

Michael Southern California, COOL, The 2004 Aussie GB had only Australians and 1 Kiwi participating so it's good to have a couple of guys from the US joining in for the 2005 buildThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Hiya Michael Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Aussie GB.

I like your idea for the M113 FSV, I’ve always liked that vehicle and it only seems like a few years ago I was driving around the country side in one of those things.

Tell me what is the weather like in Southern California at the moment? Over here in Aus it's getting a little warm at the moment, I think tomorrow is going to be something like 99 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cheers

South Aussie.
Hello from 'up over'. Your group build captured my imagination and I would certainly like to participate in same. As a Canadian, I reckon I would (in keeping with the GB rules) first have to find someone in your group who is prepared to take me under their wing & grant me 'adopted Aussie' status. Assume that can be achieved, I would be submitting a 1/35 military vehicle (actual kit as yet undecided) as my contribution. I look forward to hearing back from you.

You can go no wrong moving to Pollyscale. I still have a supply of Aeromaster Warbird Acrylics that were manufactured by Pollyscale and as those have begun to run out, moved over to Pollyscale. Their clears are the best around, especially the clear flat!

J&B Wholesalers here in Perth carry them and I order from My local hobbyshop as and when I need them.

Recommended!

cheers

I thought those Aeromaster paints were made by Vallejo? I was chatting to Chris Wauchop (model maker supreme) & he was very critical of the accuracy of their RLM colours.

Can all members of the group build please check the list on page 1 to ensure that the info there is correct.

Tweety got your email and have added your model to the list. In regards to the colour of army bell it was an green OD colour the same as army vehicles in use at the time, the only difference being that it was a gloss finish and not a flat finish. The word ARMY was white and so was the roo but I can't quite remember the position. After all it was the late 60s when I last saw one.

Jules have changed your model as requested.

Still trying to work out what I am going to do for the build, the fiqure I was looking at would probally be better for the ANZAC Build. Well as much as I hate to say it I maybe building anYuck [yuck]Yuck [yuck]Yuck [yuck]Aircraft. (Big Smile [:D]I wonder if I can sue the RAAF for my dislike for aircraft)

Vallejo makes the Color of Eagles line of acrylics, also Model Air and Model Color lines... Some people don't like the Color of Eagles line because it is "toned down" Meaning they take the FS color then lighten it a bit to compensate for the "scale effect". (When colors look darker than they are supposed to because of being smaller than a real plane...)

Now, if I get time, I might also make the Spit VIII for this GB also.

This is scary... the one universal thing to tie all the continents together is how they name their nursing homes????? I suppose in Baghdad it is the "Pleasant Sands" or some such...

I found a build I liked the looks of last night but now I lost the page... I do remember it was prop driven post WWII... not of US manufacture.,.. just have to browse through the 100 sites I went to last night to find it! (Can you tell the wife was at a meeting then Karate till late last night? Lot's of lazy time!)

That's right Sean it was a white roo without a roundel, I think the army did it that way to be different and highlight that they owned the bells, the Airforce owned all the choppers at that time and this really annoyed the Army. If I can remember correctly the roo was on a panel directly behind the cockpit door and under the seat level.

Madmike, agree with you totally about the Pollyscale flat clear, my LHS ran out of Gunze and Tamiya Flat clear so i ordered some pollyscale up fro Vic, i was a little hesitant about useing it because it's kinda white so i tried it on an old junker model first, after that i've always kept a 2nd bottle spare just to make sure i have enough to lastThumbs Up [tup]

Wayne, here is a link to some walkaround shots of an RAAF Bell 47G. They show where and what colors the roo was painted.

http://apma.org.au/reference/helicopter/bell47raaf/raafbell47.html

Jules, It's Pollyscale clear flat for me any day. As these paints are hard to come by regularly like you I have a few extra bottles on hand for a rainy day.

Gaoler, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Aussie GB, it's great to have some new and international faces joining the build. If either you or Michael needs a hand with references just ask, there are plenty of people here who can help.

Cheers

Model Master here in the US (Testors) makes a flat clear that sounds a lot like the Polly Scale one yall use... same thing, almost a white color from the bottle but it gives great results!!! I'll not use that laquer stuff again! My decals don't like it without a LOT of future!

I have given myself a dealine to announce a second build for this... by this Sun I will have my second build...

Polly Scale is made by Testors & I'm sure you can find it over there as well. It mystifies me what the exact differences are between all of these different lines that Testors make.

Future...Heard about that stuff, perhaps you could send a crate of it over so that we can stop dreaming about it.

I used up the last of my Aeromaster flat clear just before heading off to the US on holiday. On speaking with one of the blokes at Brookhurst Hobbies in LA, he confirmed that Aeromaster paints were made by Pollyscale and I walked out with two bottles of Pollyscale flat, low sheen, satin, semi gloss and gloss.

I use the flat the most and order a bottle every time I run out and break into one of my two reserves. Thinned out enough (airbrush thinness) they brush paint wonderfully on my 25mm and Battletech miniatures.

cheers

As my Aeromaster Warbird acrylics are used up, I will replace them with the Pollyscale range. I managed to talk the LHS into giving me a Pollyscale paint catalogue, so at least I can order in comfort Smile [:)]

cheers
