Yeah, I agree with darwin. I know fighterguru had to drop out because of some real life issues, but I left him on the list just in case. Also, djmodels was starting that company, so he said he wouldn't be around much, but he did post saying he got the model he'd be building. as for the rest of them, I think I will post a reminder in the A/C forum reminding them they signed up for this.

I'm really sorry, fellow modellers! I do have some things that I sent from Japan and I'm in the process of setting up shop in my barracks room. I was hoping to have some progress done by this weekend but had to work Saturday. Plus I'm trying to find a vehicle here, which good used cars in the States here are expensive! - Calvin

I was going through the older pages on this thread a little while ago and saw your blue & white Chinese Mig. That is very good. I really like the "different" color schemes, which are sometimes pretty hard to find on military planes.

Well, I'm back to break the silence! This is my third MiG for this Group Build. I am building the same MiG 21 that Darwin built, but mine will be sporting Egyptian colors.

So far, I've managed to get only the cockpit built and painted and mounted inside the fuselage halves.

Tomorrow I should be able to get more done on this guy. I'll get pics posted when I do.

Your 21 is looking good. Now you got me to thinking about doing a third one for this GB. I am in 2 other GBs, plus trying to get caught up on 3 F-105s that have been on the back burner for 6-8 months. So many models to build, so little time.

Yipes!!!! Ok lodni_k, good to see another member back! Anyway, my mig has been held back because I am trying to deal with another commitment right now, battle of Britain GB, but that's almost done. My mig needs about 20 more PE added, and then I need to pain the inside of both fins attach those, fill the gaps on the utside, little more touch up saning, and then wash the model, and then PAINT!!!!! Maybe I can do it by monday...

I can't believe it's been a month or so since I last built anything! OK, well, suffice to say that for a very nice reason I have been diverted away from modelling for the past month. However, I'm finding some time again to get my fingers painted and/or superglued to parts, to play 'hunt the control column on the floor', and that old favourite 'how on Earth is that supposed to go together?'

So, my MiG 15 UTI now need to be re-scribed. Easy to say...not so easy to do (especially as I never actually have). Helpful comments appreciated! Yes, I know I could just build that beautiful new Revell MiG (the best 1/72 aircraft kit ever?), but you know, once you start something...

Actually, yes I do have a backlog of models. I also have two projects going for the 1/72 Scale Attack Aircraft Group Build, and started a fifth build for the Under New Ownership Group Build.

Welcome back to the 'game'! One techbnique I saw on these Forums for re-scribing panel lines is to get one of those template sheets that has all different shapes cut out. They are usually bendable so you can wrap them around curves and scribe inside the chosen shape. I forget the Thread I saw it in, but a search for scribing on these Forums should bring it up. Good luck on scribing Asher, it is great to see you back!

Thanks Duke! (BTW, it's Osher, not Asher, even though both are from the same source). I think I might use some Scotch Tape, which is not too tacky, and a very steady hand to lightly score the surface. Worse case scenario is that, er, the panel lines are slightly off line, like the cockpit! The airbrakes will be more 'interesting' though, being quite rounded at the corners. Of course, now that I'm busy struggling away, Eduard announce a new MiG-15 kit, including a UTI version. Oh well!

Hi Duke, hey, don't worry about the name, my grandfather, after whom I'm named, was Asher! Right, I bought a Hasagawa 'Line Engraver 2'. Yikes! Looks like this project is taking off... (OK, I couldn't resist, I also bought a new Italeri 1/72 bf-110 to complement the Fujimi one I'm building, and also a 2nd hand kit: the Dynavector 1/48 TSR Vacform. I've never built vacform, but it was half price... Do I like challenging myself or what!)

Meanwhile, here's another pic of my third MiG for this build. It's coming along so far!

I got the wings and tail surfaces on her, and will be doing some preliminary painting and undercarriage assembly later.

Oh, by the way, this one is going to be Syrian; one of the planes flown (and most likely shot down) over the Bekaa Valley during the 1980's Lebanon Turkey Shoot. I just noticed that the kit doesn't have the Egyptain decals, only the Syrian ones. That's cool though, I already have an Egyptain MiG 21 of this model.

Actually, I hand paint it. My airbrush doesn't seem to work well with paint lately. If I do airbrush or spraycan it, I will wrap the landing gear in paper towel to cover it and seal the edges with tape. Then if any overspray actually gets under it, then I can just touch it up with a fine brush. I should have more pics up in a day or so.
