Thanks Steve. That's better than the references that I have (pretty much the decals' instructions, which in black and white and WRONG!) Every little bit helps.

Joe, those gear legs look pretty good, guy!

Justen, I've only come across two photos of 'O'Riley's Daughter' and they both show only the nose art. I can't help thinking that I have more shots but I can't seem to find 'em.

Anyhoo, here's the profile of this ship from the Squadron book on the 49th FG...

Bryan, I've got three photos of Sidney Woods' P-40E, although none which show the whole aircraft. But here's a profile, also from the Squadron book on the 49th FG...

I have to say that I'm not a big fan of color profiles, or any artwork, as reference material. But sometimes it's all one has to go on. These two profiles seem to me to be fairly reasonable, but they're only an artist's interpretation, much like a modeler's interpretation.

The profile of Woods' P-40E has one major mistake; the name 'Arizona' is too large and the letters were definitely not white. According to the caption of one of the photos I have, the name was green with red highlights.

I'll post the photos I have of both these ships on the website in the next day or so...

Great progress Joe. All that detailing looks super.

Unfortunately nothing progressing on my group build. Still trying to finish up a P-40 I started in January (but it's almost done!). I've finally realized that I can only build one at a time if I hope to ever finish anything.

Pingtang, glad to hear you're closer to being in the game!

Wayne, that's a good start. Now to actually cut a piece or two off the sprues...

If you can tear yourself away from all the hectic and time consuming wedding plans, that is...

Joe, you go too fast for me guy. I wish I could build that fast but I can't! Coming along nicely...

VA, tough luck man. That kinda stuff always happens when you least need or want it to and I think we should find that Murphy guy and do rude things to him...

Kik, sounds like you're having fun! Well, you make it sound like fun anyway... oh, and thanks for the link. I've seen it before, it's part of a website which is co-run by a friend of mine and who is in the local club. I thought I had included it on the Hawk's Nest links page, but I guess not.

Uhhhh... that's it... I think... now it's off to clean the airbrush... Wink [;)]

I've got my kit for this build now. It is the new hasegawa P-40N Warhawk. Looks awesome in the box. I'll start it in a few weeks once I get a couple of other builds out of the way.

Damn....I even changed it to that spelling too.....my spelling has been way off lately....perhaps it is laziness. LOL

VA tough break, I hope that she cooperates a bit more with ya on the fix!

Joe you are moving like a damn whirlwind. Looking really good!!

Eagle that plastic bag looks real.....what did you use for material?! LOL Tongue [:P]Big Smile [:D]Wink [;)]

I got my various interior pieces painted zinc chromate and plan on doing some detailing this weekend. The zinc I got seems a lot more lime green. I'm not worried about it too much, as it will be plenty dark after some washes and pastels. I did one of those "paint too thick...add thinner....add thinner....add thinner.....oh $@#^....paint too thin." LOL Of course due to mixing in the cup. The only piece that it really affected was the cockpit floor with the seat.....and once I sprayed I noticed I hadn't washed off any resin dust.....Angry [:(!] leaving plenty of crap in the paint. I am now stripping it in some Simple green which should clean the dust off also. Luckily it goes in after the fuselage is together, so it isn't going to keep me from starting on the filling, sanding, priming fun of the build! lol

Well I hit yet another snag, I was airbrushing on the exhaust and gun stains when sudenly my airbrush gave a burp and out came much more black paint than I wanted. I was so close to being done and would have been finished today, But because of the accedent I had to spend two hours matching up the six shades of Olive DDrab on the plane I used to fix it. So its wont be done till sunday now.

Since so many other people have put up progress pictures, I thought I would also. As Steve-O can attest, I'm flying through this build! Wink [;)]

Seriously, your build, along with Joe's, Steve's, and Justen's, is really coming along well (hopefully I didn't forget anyone).

ok after looking at what i did and the pics in the detail and scale as well as the comments from a fellow modeler, i removed the engine and redid the compartment and reinstalled. i am much happier with this.

even the cowl fits on. oh and the wheel wells are now constructed.

even got something for the display i am thinking of.

When you play around with images you have to keep an eye on the format and 'mode' of an image. I won't go into it here...

Here's the original and some resized images...

Kik, it's coming along very nicely! I added your pics to the site and darkened the resin up a bit in a few spots so you can see a bit more detail...

I too use photobucket, you can't beat the deal. I paid the 25 dollars for the year, which is cheap when you think about it.

I must say that everyone is coming along nicely on their builds, where as I haven't moved an inch due to having to work overtime, working over the weekend, and 3 kids playing sports. My fiancee will be at working this weekend, so hopefully I can get some more work done.

You need a host web site. There are some free ones out there. I use Photobucket, which seems to be popular with several members. Once they are on a host site, just hyperlink to FSM using the [img] .... [/ img] protocol (without the blank space).

Well I really want to post some pics but I do not know how to get my pictures from the computer to the internet and on to this site. If someone could possibly help me...? I would be more than happy to post pics.

Well here is a quick peek of what I got done so far......

This will be the only thing you will see from me for a couple of weeks as I slowly paint and detail the interior. It has been an adventure that I am sure Eduard planned all along. I lost 3 control handles.....I'm glad Eduard gave me some extras on the PE sprue otherwise they could make a killing just replacing handles for people. I swear the seat frame took 10 weeks off of my life just due to the stress level of gluing it in place.....then I read the warning on the box that said the seat frame may cause eye strain, high blood pressure, fowl language, liver disease, and diareha. I wish somone woulda warned me.......Wink [;)]Tongue [:P]

The Resin is very cream in color, so it is hard to pick out the details in these pics. I did have to break the seat back off after I did a dry fit and found it at the incorrect angle. And I also shortened the control stick a bit, since it was past the pilot's chin in stock form.

Great progress Steve, I see you really are doing some modeling!!! LOL Thanks for the great site, it is going to prove to be a popular hang-out.

Like I said I won't bore you all with various pics of the cockpit in various stages of horrible painting, but will only bore you with all of the written details instead!! LOL

Edit: posting pics really does help sometimes....I see the bent rudder pedal, and will correct it ASAP
