The way you work Joe, I don't think you'll have trouble making it under-the-wire. Besides, there is no end date. (Woo-Hoo!)

I've actually managed to get started on mine. Got some of the painting done in the pit and actually have some of the pieces glued together.

Steve, from one long-time kidney stone sufferer to another, my condolences and a wish for a speedy recovery. My last bought with them put me in the hospital for three days.

Sounds like were about tied Kevin, that's where I am as well. Hope to really get going after the Holiday.

Haven't actually started mine, but I will next week. I picked up a mauve P-40N kit cheap this weekend, so I'll build that one at the same time probably. It'll be good to compare the new hasegawa p-40N with the older Mauve kit. I'll let you know the winner (I think you all probably know who that will be).

The older Mauve kit, now reissued by Eduard, was the best P-40N available for many years. I just picked up the Hasegawa N to go with the E & it looks fantastic. Now if they release a K model, I'll be as happy as the only pig at the trough.

Well got a little bit of work done on my kit this weekend. I found out why the wings weren't fitting right. The cockpit was in crocked on the bottom allowing the wing to not fit in right Dunce [D)]. Hopefully work will be done to the house shortly so I can fire up the airbrush.

I've made progress on my Amtech p-40E. I've started on the Cutting Edge resin cockpit. Here's some pictures.

I've started a build review with more pictures on my site at http://waihobbies.wkhc.net/tex_p40e.html

Looking good Waikong. The instruments in that panel look spiffy!

Hello...

I received a box of stuff from my parents two weeks ago. In it was a P40B Minikraft kit that has to be 18 years old at least, seeeing as I have been out of the house for 17 years. It was a handpainted AVG OOTB. I hit it with the oven cleaner, found out that most of the fuselage detail is gone (no idea what was in my head when I built it, then again I was like 17 when I did, so not much was in my head)...

Would it be all right if I dropped in with a P40B in RAF service...Western Desert Front 1942 ish...? All that I can really do is rework the landing gear and rescribe and repaint...

Looks great Waikong, nice detail painting.

I have started working on my P-40N. I've painted the cockpit interior green, given it a wash and drybrush and done most of the detail painting on the side walls. Now I'm in the process of cutting each individual dial out of the decal and finishing the IP. Might post some pics in a few days. Hopefully I'll remember to take pics before I close the fuselage this time.

Thanks for the compliments. Its the first time I did the 3 piece panel with a acetate sandwiched in between. I'm hooked, it reallys is a great way to build a realistic looking panel.

I'm new to this forum, some of you may know me from SAE or other car modeler sites.
Recently I've had a strong urge to build airplanes (haven't did one in at least 15 years), and the P-40 is my all time favorite.
I've had an amt and a monogram kit stashed for a long time.
I will build the monogram, probably just OOB.
So, count me in.

As advertized, heres the finished pit for my Hasegawa 1/48 P-40E build.

With this done, the rest of the build should progress at a little faster pace.

Beautiful work on the cockpit. I assume that is one of the resin AM kits. Which one?

I just stumbled across this GB today, and ironically I acquired an 1/48th AMtech P-40E a month ago that's been calling my name.

I'd love to jump in on this if that's okay, but before I do commit I need some help. I have various decals to use, but I'd really love to do a model of the Aleutien Island fighter group with the bengal tiger head. But, I can't find decals of those markings anywhere in 1/48th scale. I recall seeing them in 1/72, I think.

Anyone have any guidance on where to find these elusive markings?

Building Now:

1/48 Academy Bf-109G6 - 100%

1/48 Tamiya F4U-1A - 5%

Upcoming:

1/48 Revell F-14D

Nope. It's basically OOB except for the IP & a few detail parts from the new Eduard PE fret.

That's the bird I'm building Smile [:)]. Decals in 1/48 are available from Cutting Edge @ Meteor Productions.
