Dave Luky you and you don't have to worry about snow. The snow came early this year & caught me by surprise.  Shurly you jest "a 'temporary' solution until the kids grow up and move out (6-8 years)." They'll never leave.  My step son's have been in and out a couple of months here a month there, just when you think you've made it "There baaaack!!!".  Enjoy your new work area.

Jay:  Yep, that's a space heater.  The temps around here hover just below freezing and the heater takes enough of the chill off that it's comfortable (with a sweater on).  Just must make sure to turn it off before spraying (KaBoom!!!).  Eventually I want to close the end of the garage off to make a storage area so there will be a smaller area to keep warm.  Anyway, this is what I call a 'temporary' solution until the kids grow up and move out (6-8 years).  Yes that is most of my models, the boxes on the left still have most of my 1/700 scale ships in them.  Still trying to sort out what is going to go where and many of them need repair after the move.  If you do come by this way you are more than welcome to drop in and I'd love to do the same some day. 

Bear:  I am fortunate that my house is a two story with a lower roof line over the garage and front entry that I can get at easily with a small step ladder.  I'm not brave enough to try putting lights on the upper roof.  Never mind Santa. 

Dave That's a real nice setup you have there.  Glad to hear you got your lights up and you did'nt kill yourself in the process.  I almost slid of the roof installing mine (last time I do that with 4 cm of snow on the roof).  I told my wife next year get used to seeing santa in july .

"A tiny little bit of AM stuff" I did'nt think it was possible to just add a tiny little bit It starts with one seat and the next thing you know it's engines, gears etc... it's all down hill from there.  Have fun.

Sorry to hear about your Uncle Dave.  I know you will honour him by building the Lanc he flew in. 

Whoo hoo! it is going to be in the plus temps for the next four days! so if I work as efficiently as I can (yeah right), I might be able to finish the Ki-43 hayabusa this weekend and that means more time for the Boly and Fw-190D9 (BoG GB). 

I decided to add a tiny little bit of AM to the boly.  I really liked the resin engines on my Beaufighter so I thought I would try a resin bucket seat and that is all the extra's Im getting besides sratching the nose, cockpit and gunturret... 

I am impressed with the detail on the seats so I'm getting one for the Fw-190 too but have to wait for that one, the LHS was all out, the guy had sold the last one the day before.

Dave I'm sorry to hear of your uncles passing , my condolences to you and your familly.  I suspect our motivation will be the same for building our Lancasters. 

If I'm good and get all my chores and Xmas shopping done I should get some time to rig my painting area and get moving on the Hurricane.

Jay Your right the chinooks would help in giving you some opportunities to airbrush in your garage.  I don't think I could handle the temperature swings you folks get out there.  I'm now trying to figure out where to vent once the booth is built.

My boly is going to be stalled for a bit as this weekend is supposed to be in the + temperatures so I'm going to try to get my Ki-43 Hayabusa ready for some future so I can get my decals on and seal them.  I have to airbrush in spurts during the winter  as I don't want to spray in  the house (I don't have a vented spray booth) and I also don't want my pregnant wife around all the fumes.  I know acrylics are 'low odor/vapour' but it is still there. 

The nice thing about Calgary is we get chinooks every two or three weeks that melt everything and we get plus temps for a few days.  We don't have long protracted periods of below freezing temps. 

Well I guess I'll join the club of not much done this weekend.  Work is keeping me busy at least a half dozen calls this past weekend plus doing the trim & finishing around the new windows I had installed before the nasty cold that's hitting Jay's neck of the woods makes it here.  I'm also trying to build a spray booth so I can paint and move my build forward, lot's of fun.

Thanks for the link Jay I'll have a look.  It's also gives us some familiy time, my mum loves to go museum hopping If there is enough time we'll probably check out the new war museum.

Dave  I checked out the kit no crew  to bad the cockpit is rather nice  I may have to scrounge around my sparebits box for pilots/gunners etc.  I'm hoping to go to the aviation museum in Ottawa when I go to my Mum's for xmas or Jan & take some referance pics of the Lanc that's there.

Dave Nice work on the windows the end result is well worth the effort.  I wish someone would provide us with half decent sitting pilot figures instead of the ones we have now.  They make a decent effort at making a detailed kit (Airfix excluded) and leave us with a blob for a pilot.  Have fun with your other builds.

Took some pics last night to keep Jay happy and prove that I actually have bee doing something.  The first two are of the interior.  The cockpit floor and instrument panel are the only original parts of the kit.  I based the rest on images I saw of the WEM PE set.  Like I said, nothing fancy but it will make it look like there is something in the interior.  I also cut a panel to go over top of the existing i.p. and I intend to drill some holes in it for the instruments.  There is also a support structure for the seats which I intend to scratch.

The side windows all had sink holes and don't sit flush with the fuselage so I've started to file them down and with a buff and a dip in future... presto.  Decent windows.  Okay... it wasn't presto, its lots of work but I think its worth it.

The pilot figures legs were molded together which meant the control sticks were going to be 4 ft in front of them so I cut and pried the legs apart (sounds painful eh?).  I also filed the seats down so they don't looks like big lazy-boy recliners.

I started not one but two other projects last night so things will slow down on the Sunderland for a couple of weeks
