Canadian GB -ALL SUBJECTS- (Sept 01 - to whenever finished)

I actually used only a few squeezes of the tube.  I used a q-tip soaked in fingernail polish remover to smooth out the putty and it smeared everwhere.  It looks like a lot more putty than I actually used.

It'll look better once I sand it.

Looking good Jay.  How many tubes of putty did you use ?

Well here's the progress as of last night.  You can see where I added all the putty, it is not sanded down yet.  I was still adding a few bits to the side walls this morning.  And the last pic is my new spot for my modeling desk. Complete with new shelf just above it.  You can see the prime location next to my full size beer fridge (I don't believe in mini fridges!)

Yeah fellas unless it's a subject that i really want to do i try to avoid Revell and Airfix kits, although some of the newer stuff is pretty good like the U-Boat from Revell and the MK 22/24 Spit from Airfix...

Jay sorry mate but i'm gonna change my build again, No LHS in my area has any mini drill bits which i need for the rigging on the SE5A all i can get is a 1mm which is way to big for the Job so i'm gonna go for another Spit, this time a MK V from 402 SQD A/C no AB910 AE-H "City of Winnipeg"....This one comes complete with invasion stripes an all....

Anyways i've already removed a lot of the raised detail and other bits from the I/P and seat area for the Eduard stuff to go in so i should have a couple of pics in a day or 2, I'm not going to go the whole hog with the Eduard stuff because i don't wanna get bogged down with it all and i have to have it finished in 3 weeks, but if i work on the Spit and nothing else for the next three weeks i'll get it done....

Ok, I got the fuselage closed up and the wings on.  I thought I should put the wings on before I scribe as that way I can do all the gap filling I need and it won't bugger up the scribing. 

And boy am I going to have to do some gap filling and sanding.  This Airfix Blenheim kit has baaad fit.  The shape of the tail is slightly different for both halves! and the over all shape of the tail is wrong too.

I was hoping to get the scribing done this wekeend and maybe a first coat of paint.  unh-uh, no-way jose!  I still have get my pics off the camera.

Ok I'm ready to close up the fuselage.  I took some pics this morning so I'll have to download them and post them soon.

Now I have to re-scribe the wings (oh happy happy joy joy!)

BTW does any one have any pics showing the upper side of a training aircraft with the black and yellow stripes.  I have only underside and profile views.

cdluckey, I feel for you buddy!, though University I kept my models at my parents place and they had a cat at the time, which loved climbing.  Needless to say the cat went 3 and 0.  It litteraly chewed my Hind 24 chopper to bits, Tried to eat another one and for some reason it didn't like sailing ships.  The HMS Victory has survived several hundred years but a 6 foot fall was the final blow!  I could have killed the cat, arrgh!

Progress on my Bolingbroke is rather slow.  Over the holidays I almost completed the interior.  I just have to paint it and close the fuselage.  Then I have rescribe the wings and elevators then I might be ready for some paint.

I made out pretty good a Hasagawa Lancaster & Spitfire Mk IX (ME to ME) a Bager 350 airbrush the book Metal Canvas by Stephen M. Fochuk also throw in the proforma shirt, DVD's and  my  Darth Vader Helmet it was a GREAT  Christmas.  I hope Santa was as good to all as he was to me.

Well, here's the good news and the bad news.

The good news is that Santa brought me an airbrush! It's one of the Testor Mighty Minis, which means it probably is no great shakes, but for my current purposes it will do quite nicely. "Santa" also encouraged me to buy some TwoBobs decals I've been wanting (Chico the Gunfighter and the 9/11 scramble F-15s) so I made out like a bandit. One of my lovely children even got me a kitchen cutting board to use at my model desk. I moved the model desk upstairs to the corner of the master bedroom and moved my writing work area downstairs. this will factor into the next section...

Bad news: I noticed some stuff was out of place when I started moving the  modeling stuff upstairs I noticed some things out of place...then I inventoried...and I regret to inform you that THE STINKING @#$% CATS KILLED MY CF-18!!

There's landing gear parts gone, which I could have solved by displaying it in flight, but I don't think my poor pilot can do without a canopy. With the kit unbuildable, only one month left and the Southern Fried GB (which I'm hosting) starting on Monday, I really have only one option left:

Sorry guys. I'll get a Revell or Hasegawa kit and do a CF-18 build next year with the same Leading Edge Decals. Fortunately I hadn't applied any of them yet.

I used that white generic stuff from Wal-Mart on my USS Oregon build earlier this year, and it is just great stuff as long as you prime first. In fact, I used their generic almond for the decking and the generic Fire Red for anti-fouling below the waterline. All of it came out of the can sweet.
