My stuka's starting to take shape!
I've started building a new cockpit and have been dry fitting lots of parts to see if they require filling .

No no scer, I love america too. Seriously. I won't ghet into the curent president though. Matt, as far as India goes very technically sopeaking they were a non-aligned country. In reality, they were the Soviet Union's biggest non Eastern Bloc ally. After 1962 when the Chinese invaded India, India developed very very strong economic and military ties with the soviet union. One example is this- the ONLY non warsaw pact country the MiG-27 was exported to was India. The MiG-29 was exported to all other countries as a downgraded variant. Only India and the USSR operated full fledged versions. Modern Russia has only developed one plane specifically for a customer, and that is the SU-30MKI (Guess what "I" stand for) Ok sorry for the history lesson guys... Anyway, back on topic, I started my build and it is going rather well. Pics to come.

Okay, Just to clarify my own position on this:
The Soviet Union was not a communism after lenin. under stalin it was a dictatorship, and after him it was a corrupt beureucracy. I happen to Like the Soviet Union because it was so idealistic, had a large army (which is definitely not communist) and it's citizens were so fiercely patriotic (some of them anyway) (and, patriotism is uncommunist, but i just wont go there)
I support Marxist-Leninist Philosophy. Obviously, though, a revolutionary communist state cannot be set up in one day, but takes many decades, and possibly centuries (Communism isn't old enough yet). to keep the people working, a Lenin-like NEP must be used to provide monetary incentive to the people. however, the main thing is to have the people in control, not any bosses. Over time more communist methods will be used.
Also, a major myth of Communism is the myth that no-one owns anything. This is not true. You own your house. You own your car. you own your computer, books, you name it. What you can't own are the means of production. and i'm not talking about a basement workbench here. It's factories, farms, television studios, and textile mills that you can't own. These must be owned by the community so that they can be used by the community for the good of the Community. Selling homemade lemonade is still just fine.

But anyway, I don't really want to go down that road. In model building, the Worker's spirit and someone singing the Soviet National Anthem really gets me psyched up! not to mention a few propaganda poster scattered liberally around.

So, what I came here for was to ask: Does anyone have reference pics for a soviet BMP-2

Comrad,

In WWII the people Hated Stalin and Most civilians were Jumping into the arms of the Germans Unitl the SS came through and they were murdered. The army was Communists, what would they have been, fascist..? If Stalin was not a commie, why was he insistant on making buffer zones to stop the democracies that he said were coming to invade the Communist Russia?

In russia You can have a phone and a computer BUT - For a phone in could take 20 years just to get one installed. Computer, who knows!
Want to own a car? Hmmm, The Communist cars were 2 stroke engines and put out more pollution than god knows what. Heck, My dirtbike isnt even a 2 stoke, neither is our lawn mower.
My history teacher's wife is a Russian, When asked by a gov official "Why do you want to leave russia?" She replied "Because there is nothing here. And besides, most of the men are drinkers here."
And I keep hearing, "well if the people would work"
Why should they work! If their gov wont let them have quality goods. What do they get if they work? No bonus nothing. But if you give them a bonus, they will want more and more. This is what is happening with China. In the future (probably not too far away) China will become a democracy.
The people who want communism in places like russia have never reall y had freedom. When the Soviet Union Collapsed The russians had caos. There still is alot of that today. It will take a long time for Russia to see the free world.

If you support Communism, Something is seriously wrong with you.

Hmmm, well Communism is still a work in progress. It has never worked, but that deosn't mean it can't still work. But how much worse is it than living in a corrupt corporate-media controlled government beuracracy?

[#offtopic[#offtopic[#offtopic That goes for everyone. My build is coming along well- I have begun cockpit detail painting and still need to scratch some wires and handle for the cockpit.

Oh, BTW, reb, what sergei is referring to is that according to Marx a true communist state would not have an army. at all. period.

how much worse, OMG!Angry [:(!] Have you not seen pics of Russia, East Germany etc! They were living in some of the worst conditions I have ever seen! Its pretty sad that that is how you see america. Did you know under a communist gov you would have been locked up or killed because your neighbor was spying on you and turned you in?
I believe the media has a minor influence on the Public, The republicans are sticking to their side, and the democrats to theirs.

Tanky's right.I strongly disagree, but I'll just stop arguing now. We can put aside our differences, for we are all comrades-in-arms in the World of plastic modeling. Taped Shut [XX]

Nice Pics, Ygmodeler. Too bad they didn't have too much of what I was looking for.
Sad [:(] More specifically, I was looking for 2 things.
1: pics of the troop compartment interior. you had one of those, which has greatly discouraged me from attempting to scratchbuild an interior.
2: pics of the turret. My decal sheet is confusing me, and I want a clarification on what insignia are on the turret of a soviet BMP-2

More Bad news. The arrival of my Airbursh Compressor has been delayed once again. Angry [:(!] My Grandpa has my airbush, and has made it his quest to find a compressor that fits it. Unfourtunately, all the Compressors he sees always have a nasty habit of running only off 6V car batteries.Banged Head [banghead]
So, nothing will be happening to my kits for a while. So i guess i'll just have to look for reference pics while I'm waiting. Should i search google for BMP-2? No, that would never work...Whistling [:-^]

This I found by searching googl....ov! Its...uh...a new russian search engine....yeahSign - Dots [#dots]

Can we say PATRIOT Act?

No but seriously guys, let's stop arguing... No point in it really. I haven't been getting too much time to build- school is getting in the way as usual. But I might have the cokpit finished up by tonight. The resin cokpit is really nice- well detailed. And with the addition of a few wires and hydraulic lines, it looks even better.

Yeah I have seen pics and it is definitely much worse than living in America. That's not what my statement meant...

But I also know what it's like in modern day Russia- because, well, I've been there. And not much has changed. (Except for billboards. The only thing that's different is the billboards.Dead [xx(]Tongue [:P]) They're nto even living under a proper democracy- Putin's running the place like a dictatorship.

On the modeling front, cockpit detail painting is almost finsihed!! I shall post pics soon.

So I apologize if anyone thought I was insulting America. I would never do that. I only insult our president.

Whats wrong with the president? Did you really want John Kerry or even worse, Howard dean running the country! That sick!

About putin, If you have been to Russia, then you know that since the Soviet regime collapsed, Russia has been in complete coas. Nobody is folowing the laws etc. What putin is doing, is instating harsher laws which will eventually be released. With these laws Russia will slowy come out of the caos.
It is very hard for a country to move into a democracy when they have never had freedom. Many dislike it and want communism back in place. But with time the new generations will become used to democracy and the older generations will eventually die out.

I'll try and post pics tomorrow. I migh have the fuselage closed up and the wings on by monday, which would be cool and make for one of my fastest builds ever.

That's true enough, and I support a strong leadership in Russia right now. But did you know that 2 weeks ago, Putin stated that the greatest geo-political disaster of all time was the collapse of the Soviet Union?

My first compressor was from home depot. I think it was 50 bucks, and it came with a hose. Then all you need to buy is an attachment to the hose that will trap water. No more than 10 bucks. The air cans are gonna cost you over time.

Don't you think I know that!!! UI considered air cans, but i've got only about 100 bucks, so I tried to go to home depot to get me a kompressor but my mom said i should wait for my grandpa to get hiome (he is perpetually in florida except for the times when he's not) cause he knows about kompressors and might have one and he has a home depot card so we waited for him and when he comes back, first he gives me this big paint gun that holds like a quart, and then he said he'd give me his compressor but then he siad it was too big so he'd find me a smaller one and he did exept it runs off of car batteries and so now he wants me to get a can of air like i had planned to a million years ago but now it's cost me so much time and i cant get anything done and i wish i could drive so i could just get the thing myself, so i'll have to wit till i'm 16 until i get an airbrush which isn't that far away but most of these GB will end before i get my license so that frikking sucks and i got a nice pretty badger sittignaround collecting dust along with my kits.

In NY here no license until 17. Segei said he wasn't 16 yet so in some states he's got 2 years to go.
