Bob - looking good!!! is that preshading I see? I like it on your kit.. very subtle, some do it too heavy and it is a bit overbearing...

can't wait to see finished pics!!!

Frosty & Karl-Great work! Looking forward to the finished product.

Some work on the F-6A this weekend-landing gear attached (no doors attached yet), exhaust painted rust and attached and the yellow wing stripe applied. Prop is not glued on yet-just placed on for these pics. Awaiting the mask before attempting to paint the canopy. Also need to apply exhaust stains and other weathering.

Frostygirl That 109 looks like it's coming along nicely.

Thanks for the encouragement on the Semo, I'm hoping it's good preparation for the Panther I've got planned for the Battle for Germany GB later in the year.

Keep plugging away at the Horten, I/m not sure my Semo would survive a trip across the Atlantic! And I still haven't finished the Ju287 I started for the Prototypes GB!

Progress Update

The Semovente has now been dry brushed, tracks added, and numerous details such as the jack, Jerry cans etc added. So almost finished, which just leaves the MS406.......

Yep, we put the 'fun' in dysfunctional.......Wink [;)]

btw-put the landing gear & wheels on the Mustang last night. Somewhat of a battle, axle & wheel opening were of different diameters. Fortunatly I found a small enough drill bit in the tool box. Again, another reminder to 'pre-fit' components before attaching to the plane. Hope to finish everything off (except the canopy-awaititng masks from Great Models) this weekend. Big decision is whether to be 'accurate' and attach the landing gear door in the closed position or go with the standard door down look.....Approve [^]

Thanks for the encouragement on the Semo guys. This is the first AFV I've tackled in 20 years, and I was never an AFV builder back then!

The wash was a mix of Windsor & Newton Black & Burnt Umber water colour applied liberally with a brush, and allowed to harden before being wiped off with a damp Q tip. In typical wingy thingy fashion I AB'd the entire vehicle in Future, not sure that the armour guys do that prior to a wash, but it worked fine for me.

The tracks are all painted as well now, just a base coat of Tyre Black, followed by a light dusting of Rust, and then a dry brushing with Steel.

I'm hoping to have it finished this weekend, with pictures to follow.

By the way, what topic are we supposed to be on? Same faces, different GB, just not sure which any more.Confused [%-)]

I think Kremps took care of the off topic problem a long time ago. Now any post that doesn't contain her name is considered on topic.

Karl - Nice looking target you're building there. I like the look of the wash you've done. Can't wait to see the final results.

Tom - Looking forward to seeing your 190. It's one of my favourite aircraft (I've built two A's and am doing a D-13 now). Do you know what camo scheme you'll be doing yours in yet?

Hey Tom, Why are you posting pics of the FW-190 ? They weren't used in NA you know.

Just pulling your chain Guy Smile [:)].

It is a really nice kit, but 1/32 is just too darn big for my display areas. That said, I do have the Revell 1/32 He-162 in my stash, which I'll probably do for the Battle for Germany GB.

Karl, Very nice work so far. Looks great.

Karl - your build is brilliant! I really like the effect the was gave to it... I think you'll like the powders,, on my martlet I used just pastels but like the weathering powders (not just for straks and grime, all over) and I really liked the way it came out.

Karl and Dave - should have you all a cockpit photo tomorrow monring.. today was a VERY late day at work (14+ hours a day for almost 3 days striaght) so I think I will take the night off with a little beer and relax in front of the TV. besides I don't feel safe with a fresh 11 blade in my hand right now hahah... might fall asleep and impale myself...

Karl That Semo is looking awesome. Can't wait to see the finished results.

Tom I've been dying to do a German 1/32 project. just might have to take a closer look at that Fw 190 kit (once I see what you've done with it of course Smile [:)]).

The next step now will be dry brushing, followed by weathering. I've just bought some weathering powders, so I'll be having a play with those as part of this project, as well as the application of a filter coat to pull the whole lot together.

Tom Thanks for the photos. It doesn't look like it will be too much bigger than the He162, and there's a display case at Ikea that I've had my eye, that should be large enough to accomodate 3 or 4 1/32 scale fighters. Sounds like I'll be needing to buy it in the near future!

I hope you get some build time between feeding the dogs and wearing the pinny.Wink [;)] I'm in the midst of a week off with the wife and kids, hence actually making major progress on the Semo and the 109D.

Tanky Good to hear you're enjoying the Iwata. Sounds like a great brush, it also sounds like you need to do some work on that stash!

Karl - here's a few of the sub assemblies, I included a rule with cm on it to give you an idea how nice and big this kit is... the Martlet I just did for this GB's entire prop barely measures the length of one blade of this kit... but all in all I think there is room for it as it is such a NICE build!!!

Pics so far:

Prop:

wheelwell:

body taped together:

there looks to be room for a LITTLE putty just forward of the tail, won't be sure if it will close completely once it is glued shut or not, will keep you updated.. building is really slow now due to work and the missus being gone camping so in between feeding the dogs and cleaning and such I am trying to get something done... the canopy is VERY crisply molded and I think masking will be a breeze on it. (unlike the USN and Japanese fighters and bombers I am used to) I really recommend this kit, so far nothing has been frustrating enough to say different....

I can't wait to get my HP-CS... I know I have been talking about it for awhile but everytime I have gone to order it something on the house breaks... I'm just going to do it one day and to say to heck with it.. I think by me thinking about it I am jinxing myself, if I just do it the house won't have time to react!

The compressor is also good. The built in moisture trap and regulator are very nice and several steps up from my blue ice mini. Very very quiet, it runs only in spurts, eyt maintians a perfectly steady airflow with no pulsation whatsoever. One thing, with my 155 hooked up to it i can get working pressure of about 33 psi, but with my bcs i can only get working pressure of 25 psi. Not a handicap at all though because i never really go above 20 psi for any reason except cleaning.

Tanky, Glad to hear you like your new Iwata AB. I've got the CR Revolution which is a step down from yours, but also a very nice brush. How d you like the Compressor ? I've been thinking of getting that one when my present one dies.

OK. Guys who swear by their badgers are gonna hate to hear this. I tried out my Iwata hp-bcs today. It is amazing. pencil lines to wide spray without even adjuasting the pressure!! Take it down some, and you could do mottle on 1/144 scale luftwaffe aircraft.

It is a notch above my badger 155 anthem. Now don't get me wrong, i love my 155, im just saying the hp-0bcs is better.

Well, took the BMF to the canopy last night and came to the conclusion that it's time to order some pre-cut masks! The canopy lines (AM F-6A Mustang) are sooooo faint that BMF is not going to work. Oh well, since I have to order the masks (two-there is a P-51A in the stash) I may as well order the decals & PE for the bf109g10 for the Battle for Germany GB. And some decals & Ultracast seats for the F4-F Wildcat for the Pacific GB. Honey...hide the credit cards......

Hey guysCool [8D]

Been so flat strap at work and playing with my son (he is in 'daddy' phase right nowBig Smile [:D]) and havent had alot of modelling or even posting time.

Good to see Jules is still aliveSmile [:)]
Daniel I haven't forgotten about the Gunze flat, just a matter of getting away from work soon enoughDisapprove [V]
You wouldn't think mailing something would be so difficult!

As for the 129, got the wings on and all the fillets in place. Got the nose on and have started attaching the nacelles.
Hopefully this weekend I can spend a few hours burning the midnight oil and get a whole heap more done.
Still no sign of my Iwata airbrush...........................must be a really slow boat this yearSad [:(]

Rick Saw the Hetzer the other day too. Another nice looking kit, and Eduard have got PE out for it already.

Haven't seen the T34 in the flesh yet, but looks good from the photos. Just want them to release a Panther and a King Tiger, and I can see myself starting a 1/48 armour collection.

Tom Thanks for the update. Are you doing yours flaps down? If so the flaps are incorrect, they should hang at no more than 60 degrees, not the 90 degrees depicted by Hasa.

I've been looking at my Revell He 162 over the last few days having picked up the MBI book on the type, which has really whetted my appetite. I'm starting to see the appeal of large scale kits, but like you, I'm not sure I've got the space to display them!

'Darling, about that extension to the back of the house........'
