Rick-first off, I'm speechless at the first known/published photo of Kremps. Maybe speechless isn't the word....

Secondly, would you recommend the Paasche H as a 'first' airbrush? It is on the short list with the Badger 155-can't decide at this point.

Thanks

Bob

Thanks for the comments on the 108, everyone. The mottle was done free hand using my old Paasche H with a #1 tip. Paint was ModelMaster enamel, thinned about 1:1 with ModelMaster thinner. Compressor was set at about 10 psi. Since then, I've added an Iwata HP-CR & a Badger 100LG air brush to my AB arsenal The Badger 100LG with the medium tip is now my favorite AB. Makes this type of painting a lot easier.

Darren - my wife waited until after we got married to start using Karate on me... one night we were watching TV, she said something silly so I went to tickle her.. ended up with her knee in my eye... Black Eye [B)] I guess I wasn't listening when we were dating and she told me she was a black belt... Disapprove [V] I got her back though... I rubbed my eye in imaginary lingering pain and pouted the rest of the night hahaha... Wink [;)]

Jules - yeah the "Big K" is my primary build, I am just doing the stuka to while away my black primer drying on the other kit... looking forward to the 520! you know me and fringe builds! Wink [;)]

Rick - I almost said in my previous message that the Stuka looked comparable in quality to a Hasegawa kit... now I know why that phrase came to mind!!! I'll probably just build this on OOB because it's just a kit to give me somethng to do until the primer dries on my P-47 I am Alclad'ing. I may decide to do another one latrer as it looks pretty good on the sprue...

I don't mean to sook about the lack of time, but it's just so bloody annoying!!!!Angry [:(!]

Like sand in your undies annoying, or your dogs breath in your face at 3 in the morning kinda annoying (don't tell the misuss I said thatBlack Eye [B)]).

I must finish the Aussie GB kit first, it's just that I'm soooooooooo keen to get into the 129 squiggle camo it's killing me!!!!!!!

Rick I love the 108 mateThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]
That ones on my list of 'to do's'

RickThat's a nice looking 108 mate. Nice work on the splotch job.Thumbs Up [tup]

Jules & Darren Looking forward to seeing those progress pics.

Progress reportMy 109 is coming along well. Got the final flat coat on today, it's about the fifth coat I've applied. That's because the RLM 79 was a flat paint and the green splotches were gloss. Kinda made it hard to get the finish even, but I think it's all good now.

Tom, now that's a great story Thumbs Up [tup], isn't it weird how things work out. I met my wife at Karate after she decked me with an uncontrolled roundhouse kick to the head Black Eye [B)]

Tweets, ditto Jules. Sorry to hear about your lack of build time, I just hope your time is being taken up with something positive.

Rick lovely build as usual Thumbs Up [tup]. Ok now for the obvious question, what technique did you use on the green splotches ie air pressure, thinned paint etc, etc...

Progress update, the interior of the 109 is just about done. Just a couple of small details to paint in the fuselage and it's close up time. I've go to admit I'm pretty happy with the IP, I used a little variation on my basic method and it turned out quite nice IMHO. What I did was base color (RLM 66) followed by black in the instruments, followed by a Future coat, then a black wash around the instruments, then dry brush the instruments with chrome silver (I normally use white), then a flat coat and finally a drop of Future on the instrument faces. The chrome silver when covered with a flat coat is a lot less stark than white and gives a nicer look to the IP. I'll try and take some pics tonight.

Cheers
Darren

Rick Nice buildThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] My LHS has the same kit sitting on the shelf, i may have to have a closer look at it next time i go inThumbs Up [tup]

Tom I think your Ju 87 is the same one that i'm halfway through building, are the decals the one's which have the big snake going down the fueselageQuestion [?]
And BTW is the Martlet K for "KREMPS" your prime build for this GBQuestion [?]

Progress report::::::::::::I have the 109 F4 all glued together and am now doing some light sanding to hide the seams, very little filler was needed on this Hasegawa kit just a little on the undersides and some more to cover the holes where the gun bulges go on the nose.........PIC SOON...........

Tom, the ProModeler Ju-87 is actually a rebox of the Hasegawa kit. Eduard makes a real nice PE detail set for it if you want to spiff up the cockpit.

Finally did a little work on my 109. Not much, but it's a start.

oh yeah I started the Ju87 I talked about at the first of the build instead... it's the Monogram Pro Modeler series Ju87 R2 with Afrika Korps markings... the cockpit is a crying shame there is so little detail in it.. PLENTY of detail on the exterior though so maybe it will draw peoples eyes from the interior... it looks to the naked eye like the fuselage will fit together fairly nice... we'll see later... other ProModeler kits I have built have been of decent quality...

I'm waiting on seats and such for my Martlet... I evne found a Martlet seat with the Sutton Harness which I am sure a Martlet Mk.III would have had by that point in the war.. and props etc... so this one will be a little more detailed than the last one I did...

good going Karl -- the decals I was talking about on the BoB GB are actually for my Bf110 I thought I would finish while I was waiting on the primer to dry on my P-47 for the Latin America GB... they were for the Wespen group and I thought they looked kinda neat.. I guess I will either do the boring decals for the other group or see what else I can manufacture...

I've managed to do a little work on the interior of the MS406 this weekend. Nothing spectacular, just a little plasticard and aluminium tubing to give some semblance of internal structure.

All the paint has now been ordered for this project, though thanfully not from Hannants, otherwise I'd have another 14 day wait to paint the cockpit!!!!!

And that's about it for this weekend.

I'll post some pics later in the week.

Tanky, your decals are in the mail. Use them well Smile [:)].

Haven't got started on my 109 yet, but thought I'd post some pics for those doing the RLM80 mottle over RLM79 scheme. This is the Eduard 1/48 Bf-108 kit that I built early last year. Hope you all enjoy the peek.

There's nothing like a scaleable solution......

.......and that's nothing like a scaleable solution!

If you're going to do thin client, stick a mainframe behind it!

But enough of such banter, the mail man cometh!!!!!!

I now have a copy of Squadron's French Fighters in action, so work has now commenced on the MS406 pit.

This also means I now have decals to finish the Hurri for the BoB GB.

Also just returned from the LHS, where I resisted the urge to pick up Italeri's Semovente, as a large part of my budget this month is going on a Badger 100G.

After all it's not as if I haven't got enough kits to finish.

Well, I'd love to help Tanky along with his lessons, but most of mine contain expletives that I dont beleive I say, let alone letting the yungun's here it.

Mind you-
"Slap a big black dog up ya!" is one of my personal fav's.

Doesn't have to be a dog, you can improv.........
"Slap a salmon up ya!" has been used with success, same with-
"Slap a moldy thong"

Pretty much anything organic or not, except cactus, the visual alone makes me squirmShock [:O]

Still at the "looking at the box" phase with the 129.
My zero modelling time has worsened (if possible) to "haven't set foot in the room for 2 weeks"
This does not bode well when you have time frames to contend with.

Sad days ahead
