                        Update photos.....


                        Photo 1 shows you my messy desktop with the beginings of the MiG-25 assembly. The ejection seat is not glued in yet. Next to it you see the MiG-19 which is giving me fits.



                        Photo2 Shows a closeup of the MiG-19. The basic pattern is okay, but the dark brown paint went on in spatters, and may have to be completely redone.

                        The blue clay is part of what I used to mask off the camo pattern. I have not completely removed it since I'm probably going back in for some fixing. I think all of the dark brown needs to be redone with a different jar of paint.

                        Oh well you can see some progress.

                        The panel beneath the Mig is part of the cockpit for the Foxbat.

                        Still trucking right along here.

                        We're about to be hit by a hurricane, so unless the roof blows away I should have some quality modeling time.


                        MiG-19 is in the early stages of painting. I have a tricolor scheme layed down, but one of the colors went on badly so I am debating as how to salvage it.


                        MiG-25. 90% done on scribing, and Ive started painting to cockpit. (not much there to paint)

                        Unfortunatley I found the dog chewing on the canopy this morning, and I have one huge tooth mark in the middle of the 'glass' [:0] Dang-it...any other part I could sand and putty, but what the heck do I do with a messed up clear part?

                        (Dog might be spending the hurricane sitting outside by 'accident')Evil [}:)]

                        That's the best thing about 1/72- you can do the smallest, and the largest, in a single scale. And everything in between! That's why I model 1/72 exclusively, with few exceptions.

                        Great lookin' Migs! Love the work with the metallics!

                        As for me, my BI-1 is finished, also. I was able to get the paint on over the weekend, and the decals soon thereafter. The colors are probably off a bit, because I just mixed up some custom colors from some leftover RLM colors. They dry with a nice semigloss finish, so a gloss coat was unneeded. Decals went down fine, even though I almost destroyed one of the underwing stars. I covered it up with battle damage.

                        It was also my first foray into clear flat coats, and it went fine.

                        My only complaint is the kit canopy- thick, and not very clear. Unfortunately I was pretty much limited to it, so I made do.

                        I'll get some pics of the finshed deal ASAP.

                        Update on my stuff:

                        Mig-25......Still rescribing lines. Its hard to tell if I'm doing a good job or a crappyone. I dont thinki'll know until I apply the wash if this is all going to be worth it.Black Eye [B)]

                        MiG-19......mostly going well until I got to the landing bay doors......UGH. Talk about a crappy fit. Albiet the kit was never designed to have to doors closed like I am doing, but still the fit should be semi-close.

                        I feel fairly confident I can fill and rescibe to doors okay, but here's a shot of where I am now.

                        (note the large hole for the flight display stand.)

                        Construction is about 90% complete, and I'm about to do the sanding and painting in the next few days hopefully.

                        Some of the best Migs I've seen. Better than my MiG-15. It's still gray. Not metallic, but gray! I see the decals come out much better on a metallic background.

                        I opened up the MiG19 from KP. Looks like I will be using the entire time available on this build. Some serious gaps when dry fit and bulky raised rivets and panel lines. From the looks of the gaps and the filling that will be necessary I will pre-empt the kit and re-scribe the panel lines.

                        The PE cockpit is an absolute nightmare to fit.Banged Head [banghead] The detail is wonderful but the instructions are Censored [censored]

                        We can put men and machines into space but can not get directions that make sense, or an easily programmable DVD/VCR or the number of hot dogs to match the number of hot dog buns...ooops, sorry I am a bit off this morning, Kremps seems to have skipped me on the morning medication run..

                        I just finished the two Migs that I have been working on for this GB. One is a 1/72 KP Mig-15bis Fagot B and the other is a 1/72 Hasegawa Mig-17PF Fresco D. Both are painted with Model Master Buffing Aluminum Plate and then selectively buffed to give a different look to some of the panels. This post will have pictures of the Mig-17 and the next one will have the Mig-15.

                        on my end I have moved the Su-32/34 ahead of the hasa "cat" and am almost to the painting stage. Like most Italeri kits it is simple to build with only the bare necessities for a cockpit and almost no wheel well detail. I have begun adding some detail to the wells using some hobby wire and strip stock. Hopefully it turns out ok. Think that I'll add the crew ladder that is behind the nose gear - although it might look silly to have the ladder and no entrance to the cockpit! Oh well it is an ok kit , and a monster even in 1/72 ( twice the size of my F-16) that it will be a great addition to my collection.
