To all of you guys that are stillin-progress like me, some pictures would be great to see.

I think I learn more form the half-built photos than the complete ones.Big Smile [:D]

As for me Im still pending stripping my initial coat off the Foxbat. (dang pebbly surface) Probably do it this week when I go off rotation at work.

well, I'm open for repairs as of Monday night.

The only thing keeping me from diving in on my MiGs is the fact that I'm waiting for paint. The closest thing to a local hobby shop to me is Walmart - which has your run of the mill colors but nothing in the way of USSR Interior Blue Green! The nearest honest to goodness hobby shop to me is an hour one-way drive. It's actually at the point where shipping on an order from either squadron.com or greatmodels.com is cheaper than the gas!

Still a couple repairs to go - then, if my paint isn't here, I've got some resin for another GB project to clean up - but feels good to be "in business" again!

With a little luck, by tomorrow night (end of the long weekend) I should be up and running - starting out with some minor repairs from the move (a gear door or two here, a canopy there, a couple underwing stores - but all in all so far I think I've gotten off fairly well from the move).

Then I'll be jumping in with the Floggers - the first 2 of 5 or 6 GB projects I'll have going between here and ARC!

Speaking of which, if anyone knows of any good references for MiG-23 and MiG-27, let me know...

My MiG15 is in the paint shop drying as I write this...It is the Hobbycraft 1/72 kit...Dead [xx(]...there maybe more putty and filler in that than my first car. Decals should be on tomorrow night.

One thing I have found is that in not one research resource did I find a camo'd -15 in Soviet service. Every one of them was in BMF. There was a mention of a Soviet Aerobatic team that had red upper surfaces but no mention of what the undersides would have been...BMF, since it was not specifically mentioned?

Anyone have anything on this?

Matt- Thats a nice looking Sukhoi you've got going there.
CJ- The foxbat looks like it could almost be a supersonic transport. Man that sucker is big. One of the reasons I enjoy modeling is getting a sense of scale for certain vehicles and planes. This is a perfect example, I'd never realized it was such a big plane before.

Work on my La-7 is almost complete, I've got to install some antennas and flatcoat and hit it with some light weathering and I'll be done. I'll try to post some photos next week.

Dang.....

That Sukoi is turning out pretty sweet. Thats going to be a beauty when its finished.

In other news......
Had a minor disaster with my Foxbat. I was priming it for painting when all of the sudden my airbrush decided to go all splattery. Dead [xx(]
I'm trying to assess the damamge but it looks like a job for Oven cleaner and a toothbrush to start on a fresh surface.
I think the culprit is the weather as its been so humid down here in Texas that the paint cant atomize properly. (Yeah thats a goood excuse)

To quote my 2yr old son - Thats a BIG plane!!!!!!

Wow, makes the Mig-25 look even more impressive!!!

Update

Here are a couple of shots of the camoflage and painting on my Su-34. I tried the pre-shading technique on this one, and at least on the bottom it turned out pretty well I think. I went back and post shaded the panel lines with a slightly darker shade of each camo color on the top and am pretty please with the worn look that it is already presenting.

Any and all observations will be greatly appreciated!!

Big Smile [:D]

Joe, the 1/72 Hobbycraft Mig 15 is an awful kit, but I guess you found out the hard way Smile [:)]. The DML/Dragon 1/72 kit is only slightly better. Eduard announced an all new tooling of the Mig 15 in 1/72 over a year ago, but haven't heard anything more on it. Wish Tamiya or Trumpeter would down size their 1/48 kits, but I doubt it will happen.

BIG PLANE

Looking good...I take it it will be BMF. Definitely looking forward to the finished product.

From here forward I swear never to buy another "cheap" kit again! I am working on the Hobbycraft 1/72 MiG15. The fit is Censored [censored] !!!

The fence inside the intake was more like 48 scale than 72, major surgery on that and the fit of the intake ring to the fuselage...well let me put it this way...

Like slow dancing with a drunk pig (or PiG to keep with the GB theme).

The surface detail is recessed but they are recessed rivet marks. More dimples than a rotten golf ball! Still trying to figure out how I am going to put them back after the first sanding is done.

Whoah.....That is BIIIIIIGGGGGG!!!!! I guess that's the soviet Union for you. That pilot could live in the engine! Heack, he probavly did! at least it's nice and warm there.

I've re-futured my Mig after an attampt at a wash stripped the paint off of it. I'm going to put some more coats on just to be safe, and then try it again.

Sorry Tanky, I've been in a modeling slump lately. Haven't done much in the last few weeks, partly due to my wife being laid up with a pinched Siatic nerve. But she is about recovered now, so I don't have to take her in for any more physical therapy. Actually spent a couple of hours on the bench yesterday & plan more today. I have a couple of builds almost done & then I'll get going on the Mig 21.

Okay.....been on vacation for awhile, but Im back with some updated pre-paint Foxbat pics.

All I can say is.....dang this baby is a BIG plane.[:0][:0]

Too bad Village photos wipes out most of th detail...you cant see the huge rescribing job that took up most of my time.

Im not 100% pleased with the 'cans, so These are only going to be lightly glued on until I can find some good alternatives.

This is the MiG-19 I finisheda few weeks back for scale........

Dang.....even this F-105 is dwarfed by the Foxbat......time to clear some shelf space.

Hopefully I'll have some progress pics to show this weekend, I have been kinda sidetracked with my UH-60 Medevac conversion as of late.

I have the camo painted and some panel lines, etc. highlighted and weathered. Will be finishing the black anti glare panel and then take some pics!!!!Big Smile [:D]

Hey i've made some progressThumbs Up [tup]
There isn't much to the Academy I-16 so i've decided to add some PE gun barrels as well as a ring and bead sight from Verlinden to complement the tiny amount of PE in the pit............
So far i have all the construction done and now i'm up to the fill and sand portion of the build, i thought this kit was going to be easy but there are some horrible gaps where the wing joins the fueselage and unfortunatly i'm gonna have to do a little rescribing.....
