My airbrush has a compressor. hopefully when I paint a kit with it my parents will be so impressed by the paint job that they'll get me a kit for this build.

Well, it could happen.....Dead [xx(]Wink [;)]Dunce [D)]Sigh [sigh]

Is it too late to join the build?

If you could put me down for a 1/48 Monogram Mig-29, that'd be great. Big Smile [:D]

Monogram makes a 1/48 MiG-29? I never knew that. Is it a really old kit?

It's from the 80s, one I got off eBay a while back. Pretty nice looking kit so far, could be a rebox of something else.

Just go to Google and type in 'Soviet planes' or something! You'll probably get about 1.8 million hits, but....
Cheers,

I was wondering when somebody would do a 'Rata'! It seems to me this whole thread was leaning heavily towards the 'Mig'....

Not that there's anything wrong with that! It's just I don't know squat about 'em! Big Smile [:D]

I can't wait for the start of this GB. I just finished up getting the paint for the BI-1. Most of the colors- well, ALL the colors - are going to be custom-mixed from piant I already have. It saves a bit of money from buying everything seperately.

The final scheme is going to be a camo pattern of light kakhi green and dark (almost black) green, both over light blue. I'd like to try a few new techniques (washes, complete gloss and flat coats, etc.) I haven't attempted before. It should be fun!

Tanky,

Can you sign me up for this one? I think I'm going to do the Eduard 1/72 La-7 in GPW markings.

Thanks,

Jeff

Nick,

I want to say they used Mk. IX. Double check me on that though...if it is true try the KP 1/72 kit...it will give you the option of the eliptical or clipped wing variants...

Yep, they sure did. The bomber was a Tupolev TB-3. It was one in a series a whole bunch of parasite projects all lumped under the name 'Zveno'. Many different combinations were used, with different aircraft. It culminated with the 'Avaimatka' flight in 1935, I think. This pic says it all:

Another version, the SPB, was used operationally in WWII, and there is a kit of it out there. Unfortunately a bit of work needs to be done to it to make it accurate. Either you can backdate the I-16s to make a Zveno 6, or update the TB-3 to make a true SPB. Either way its a fair bit of work. I do have my eye on the kit, though. I'd really like to make at least one Zveno version, but which one I'm not sure yet.

Greetings all.

I'm just getting back into the modelling game after a multi-year hiatus.
I've never done a group build, but this looks like a great way to pick up tips.

Hopefully its not too late to join.

I want to do a 1/48 jet, and while I was leaning towards the MiG-25 I see that has been called.....like twice.Big Smile [:D]

I already have a MiG-19 so what do yall think?
Question [?]

Build whatever suits YOU! It is of no particular significance if one or more GB participants are already planning to do that specific aircraft. The more the merrier!

Sergei,

Sorry for the slow response, sometimes I can't get online for several days. Tank was right on the GPW meaning. I specified that because Lavochkins were also used in service for several years after the war.

Okay......

put me down for EITHER a 1/48 MiG-25 or a 1/48 MiG-23.

I'm having a little difficulty locatinga Flogger in that scale, but the '25 is on order from Ebay.Big Smile [:D]

I'll make my final decision based on what the kits look like when I get them.

This will be cool, thanks for the oppurtunity to join.

Okay Tanky, looks like I can join in if you have room for another. I've got an Academy 1/48 Mig 21 with an Aires interior detail set that's been gathering dust on my shelf for a long time. I'm mostly a prop builder, but a stovepipe might make a nice change of pace. I won't be able to start until early July, so let me know.

Ok I'm not joining this GB because I am already stretched thin (okokokok I might in a day or two once I get through thinking I need to) but for you FRINGE builders... (not looking at anyone in particular, especially me)

Other US/UK aircraft flown by the Soviets in WWII and immediately post:

P-36
P-47
P-51
Spitfire Mk.V (only about 140 made it there, left over N.Africa planes)
Spitfire Mk.IX LF (about 1400 sent)
Hurricane
P-39
B-25 (late 1945, not used in combat)
P-40
A-20
P-63
PBY-5

I'll post more as I find them! Just another "What would Kremps do" idea...
