I just ordered the decals for my 1/32 Hasegawa FW190D-9.  Specifically, I'm doing a yellow tailed bird as flown by Oblt. Hans Dortenmann (JG54).

Okodokee folkees, My Hasegawa 1:72 JV44 Red 1 Dora just needs some dullcoat and some pastel weathering.  I'll finish her off probably tomorrow or Wed and get some pics for ya'll.

Looks good Jay!  Nice work!

My 1/32 Hasegawa FW190D-9 arrived in the mail last Friday.  I can't wait to work on this one, but I'm a bit loaded with GBs at the moment.  I'm planning on starting this kit soon however, and will work on it as a side project while I try to finish up a couple of my other projects.  The kit looks really nice.  I'm doing some research for aftermarket decals, and would really like to do the aircraft as one in JG54 as it appears in Robert Taylors "Savage Skies", if I can find more information.

Looks good Jay, The mottling really depends on the real aircraft. Some have more than others. You might make a tiny cut in the decal and dab some future in there. Here are the pics of my finished build. Fire away!

Some progress pics for you.  I want your honest opnion of the mottling.  This is the first time trying luftwaffe mottling and I didn't want to put it on too much but I think I went a little too light.  Oh well, there is always next time.  Live and learn right?  I am having so much fun building these Doras I really want to get some more, especially one in 1:48 scale.  I've heard the Trimaster is an excellent build.  What about the Tamiya 1:48?

This one is for the BoG gb but since it is a Dora too, I'll post some pics here.  I had problems with the decals and you can see the white residue around them in the pics.  I still have to seal with future so I hope that will take away the white.

Well, I was able to get all the decals on without a hitch this weekend.  Now I have to get the landing gear on, seal the deal with future and then start weathering!  I can see the end!  I'll try to post some pics soon.

Lookin great guys!  Sorry I haven't been around much lately.  Flight school is kickin my butt!   I'm doing well but it takes up a LOT of time.  Have three Doras here that are in various stages.  Of course, you've all seen the pics of the big tail bird, but I've got Red 13 and Red 3 together too.  Had a bit of an issue with propellant coming through my airbrush and landing on the underside of Red 13, so I've had to strip all of the red off of the underside.  My compressor sucks, so I've been using propel cans lately.  I'm hoping I'll get my camera fixed fairly soon so I can take some pics of my progress!

Pretty snazzy Josh!

I have the future applied and decals will be getting on shortly  Maybe by the weekend I'll have it all decaled up?  The white stripes for the JV44 ID scheme will take a while I think.

Jay, the FW 190s look good so far.  Looking forward to seeing these when completed.  everytime I see a FW-190, makes me want to build another one.  I built one for this GB, maybe I should start another one?
BTW, what color do you use for the fuselage?  is that a light grey or a light blue?

Looking good Josh,

I've got some morre updates, thsi is from Monday night.  I tend to work in spurts, especially while painting as I do my Airbrushing in the garage where is tends to get a little chilly (Winter in Canada is VERY cold)!

Red 1 from JV44 is on the left (for this GB) and on the right is my build for the Battle of Germany GB, a dora flown by Gerhard Michalski. of Jg4.  As you can see I still need to ad the red underside and the mottling on the fuselage.  We're supposed to get a Chinook this wekeend so I think Sunday I'll be able to finish the painting and get ready for decals!

Thanks guys, What I stuck in the cp is a suggetsion from Rjkplasticmdo (Rick).  He uses fun foam but I use make-up sponges, courtesy of my wife!  I cut it to a size just a bit bigger than the cp and then I stuff it in, it doesn't break the little pieces inside the cp and it totally blocks any paint from getting in.  I tried the wet papertowl or tissues but I just got little fibres stuck everywhere inside the cp.

I got the dark green on last night.  I am impressed with myself, I had my doubts for a few moments there but it looks great!  I'll take pics tonight and post them tomorrow.  I now have to paint the mottling and the red for the underside.

I'm thinking we'll run it until October.  Sound good to everyone?  (honestly, I just pulled a random month out of the air, it could be any time.)  What's everyone think?

And Espins1, WELCOME ABOARD!

This GB is open ended, so I say come on in, but it is really up to Cobrahistorian since this is his GB.

But let me say Sign - Welcome [#welcome] and post some pics!!!

Jay,

Sorry about not responding sooner, life's been a little hectic lately.  Yep, it is an open-ended build.  Looks like you're making great progress, can't wait to see it finished!

I should be getting my decals for my big-tail Dora next week, so I will be able to finish her pretty soon thereafter.  If all goes well, I should be able to post pics in 2 weeks.
