Duke Maddog, that is great work!

Jabbe, I dont see any need to have any badge restrictions, except to have them at the size in our signature lines advised by the management of FSM. I suppose that they should have the title of 1/72 Biplane / Triplane GB.

Sarge and tlivancso!

I'm putting the Fokker DVII together while waiting for the P-47 and A-1 to dry. The first coat of red paint went on today. I'm hoping that since this is such a small model that I'll be done by the end of the week. I suppose it just depends on how long it takes for everything to dry.

Hey nitethyme, what are the badge conditions?

there is a big difference between the Revell AG (Germany) kits
& the Revell Monogram (USA) ones... Revell AG is usually quite good
in terms of detail & fit.... ur swordfish is revell AG.

sorry 2 hear about the accident, but the crashed a/c dio sounds
like a great way 2 recycle the kit !
no info on ur scheme so far, but it looks good 2 me !
the eduard Dr.1 is a great kit, fantastic fit, no flash & a very easy build...
& the Dr.1 has very few rigging wires, also...

I can’t really recommend a good Bi-plane kit, but I can suggest an aircraft. The Fokker D.VII is probably a good choice, since there’s almost no rigging. Plus there are quite a few manufactures that make a variety of D.VII kits.

Actually, they put out a number of 72 scale bi/tri-planes. Be a good place to start.

Revell/Monogram puts out a couple large scale WWI biplanes, most notable is the Sopwith Camel. I think it is in 1/24th scale if I remember correctly. It may have some fit issues along the fuselage, but it is a relatively easy kit to do in that there is not a large quantity of small parts. Most parts are large enough at that scale to be able to assemble them fast and easy. Putting the top wing on will be a bit dicey, but not too difficult. Certainly easier than the 1/72 scale aircraft I've started in the post above. It should be a good kit for one who's never done a biplane or triplane before.

Well, I finally got enough time to start my kits for this Group Build. Yep, kits.

This first one is the pilot and observer for my SOC-3 Seagull all painted up and ready to go:

While I was at it, I went ahead and also painted my pilot for the Cr.42 Falco:

Now, on to the planes they will be flying. I put together the fuselage, lower wing and tail surfaces for the Seagull. It isn't trimmed or touched up yet but it looks pretty good so far:

The Italian pilot also looks pretty good in his plane:

I had noticed earlier that this kit has no windscreen so I'll have to find a way to fabricate one.

That is where I am so far with these kits. I'll post more pics when I get more progress done.

Now, that colour scheme... This scheme is straight off the box, and yet, I can find NO reference of this scheme ANYWHERE on the net. Can someone tell me where I might find some info that might historically back up this scheme? Thanks in advance Big Smile [:D]

If I'm not mistaken, it was a Revell Swordfish. I don't open model boxes, but this one was already opened, so I took a peek at the parts bag, and overall it looked very nice. I'm not a big fan of Revell at the moment because I'm building a 1/72 B-26 that has lots of issues, but the Swordfish looked good. Like I said, I might go back for it later on.

I'm rather excited about the little DVII because I think it'll be a really quick, fun build. I'm going to paint it with brush and not AB, just b/c the parts are so small. I'm building it OOB, but I think it would make a much more impressive kit if someone added some AM details to it.

It is not specifically WWI.

Jabbe, I'm looking forward to seeing your Fokker! I havent seen a model of this a/c yet, so I am sure this will be interesting. Did you note which manufacturer the Swordfish was by?

Sign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic]

Our cat made a move for my glass display unit last night, and flattened my Bristol Bulldog. I think it is beyond repair, as He, (the most important one!) has managed to smash all of the support bars and wheel frame. Taped Shut [XX]

Oh well, time for a NEW bulldog!

Thanks guys (and girls!). Put me down for a 1/72 Revell Fokker VII, just got it from the hobby shop yesterday. I saw a Swordfish there too, and I might go back for it, but I figured a little WW1 bipe would look good nestled in the collection.
