Hi Everyone,
here it is. Apart from some odds and ends its finally done. Its Tamiya's Sherman built straight from the box on a base of my making. Its supposed to depict a scene from the Ardennes. I'm not a regular dio armor/dio builder so if you see something not quite right feel free to tear into me-at least that way I'll know better next time! I enjoyed this project very much and plans are underway for another dio as I write. I'm now hooked on diorama building!
Please let me know what you think good or bad...........

Darren.

the dio looks great.  I like the layout you used, with the positioning of the Sherman and the troops.  The Sherman looks great too by the way.

Thanks Jimmy,

I'm glad the layout looks OK, for a while I was wondering if it would work or not. Thanks fro commenting on the Sherman, I normally build aircraft so I'm pleased that you like it.

Regards,

Darren.

Ok its taken me some time to get started, but here's my progress so far. Scratched base and everything. Insulation foam used. Groundwork is finely sifted potting soil. Bridge (kinda out of he picture here) is made from balsa and coffee stirring sticks. Academy M-18 and Tamiya cckw. THe ruined house is an italeri item, with a plaster foundation and scratched rubble. You can't see the water bed very well, but it will be filled using Woodland scenics realistic water. FIgures are part of the Tamiya dragon wagon crew, some Italeri Truck crew, and two Verlinden figure sets.

It all depends on your mixture. I make my groundwork out of actual dirt, mixed into mud with water and white glue. The less white glue, and more water I use, the more cracking I'll see.

Vehicles are finished, and I'll get some pics up soon.

4 (yes, four) Tamiya 1:48 F4U-1s (1x -1D, 1x -1A, and 2x -1s)

Ok, here's where it stands now. I'm really not too happy at all by the appearance of the earth. Too much paint, and I painted it too lightly IMHO. Anyways, things left to do:

Couple more small trees to be added

Loose leaves to be added and a bit more work on the shrubs on the road

Try to do something with this damn groundwork. Any suggestions?

Heavy plastel process still left to go onto the building to tone it all down a bit. It's just jumping out way too much right now.

All comments and suggestions welcome.
