Hey Reb, can you post a link to that picture? I'm also building a BoB dio and I'd be curious to see it...not to copy it, but just to get an idea of the surroundings.

I've just recently finished ordering the rest of the models I'll be using, both are Tamiya models...

A Steyr Command wagon:http://www.kitlink.com/Products/images/Tamiya/tam35235.JPG

and a bicycle:http://www.kitlink.com/Products/images/Tamiya/tam35240.JPG

I plan to make both models part of the twisted and burned out rubble strewn wreckage surrounding my German defenders machine gun nest.

have fun! lolBig Smile [:D]

Jeff, your figs look excellent for just a second attempt. Just a couple of notes, you painted the boots and the gear brown, but the real things are black. And on the guys who has the darker gray pants, it looks like there is some plastic showing just above his boots. A fine tipped brush will fix that right up. Overall, nice work!

I have no progress, I will be starting on my build sept 1st. I will be doing the scene from BOB where they knock out the stug.

Hey rebelreenactor,

Thanks for the heads up but I havent painted that area on any of them yet. All I painted were their shirts and pants and belts. Thanks though. Big Smile [:D]

Yes, that's the one I mean reb...if you can find the pic, cool, but don't trouble yourself too much. I just wanted to get another reference shot of the rubble strewn streets, but there's no scarcity of those references!

Along with the various sized ballast I have and the brick debris I've smashed to use, I've also ordered 1/35 scale bricks to use for the rubble in my dio...I plan on BURYING the Steyr and the twisted bike frame will look great poking up through all that debris!

CDNTanker25, you posted in the DIorama forum. That's what I've been saying. To hernando, dude, you're the admin, get to it man. Either close this thread or close the one in the Diorama forum, as it's confusing to which thread we're supposed to post in.

WOO-HOO Big Smile [:D]

Got the Steyr model and resin accessories for my BoB Dio last night! It's SAH-WEEET, too...I'm looking forward to building it and wrecking it into a burned out and hulking shell of its former self. Actually, it's a bit larger model than I anticipated.

Ain't this fun?

No worries reb...I'm currently reading Cornelius Ryan's classic account of the Battle for Berlin and there's plenty of reference material and pics within that.

My scene is going to depict a machine gun nest position (probably somewhere near the Oder defensive line) being reinforced by panzerfaust carrying German soldiers and a motorcycle trooper. It'll include a wounded soldier and medic. Its background setting is going to include Verlinden's pockmarked, park wall ruin behind which I'm setting some artillery-downed trees.

Cheers!

sweet!

Well, I did some researching on stugs and found out that my version would not have been in normandy so early. So I am going from a Band of Brothers dio straight to a Berlin dio. Im pretty excited as I have yet to try urban stuff. The dio will be somewhere in between the Spree and Landwehr Canals in south eastern Berlin. Vehicle is going to be from the SS pz Abt 11 Stug abt. 11 which was attached to the 11 ss panzer grenediers. Everything I read says that most of the vehicles they had were stugs and assault guns. I even got their general location per day. Sweet, I love dios with the most amount of accuracy possible, I think I have most of it down. Now I searching through pics of the buildings and streets.

These guys were the only ones to really hold out, they kept the Russians about 1000
yds away from the reichstag at all times until their friendly units behind them were pushed into them and they were forced to surrender.

I cant wait to start on the groundwork.

Ok, Well after a hard decision I am going with the bottom pic. I just like the look of it. I plan on building many more dios so I can use the others sometime later on.

so heres what I have.

A couple of figs from this set

A few from this one

this building

some rubble

some benches and tables

and some propaganda posters

This all for around 60$!!!!!!! I will probably remove the posters and possibley the benches to make things abit cheaper.

Hey reb, that stug's looking great and as mentioned, the scratch-built sandbags really came out nice...well done! What kind of fabric or material did you use to get the 'woven' pattern into them? I was planning on using some porch screening material on mine, but whatever you used came out really well.

I'm also using a propoganda poster along with a painted graffiti slogan declaring, "victory or slavery," on my park wall (gotta get my german speaking neighbors to translate that for me.) I got that little detail out of the Cornelius Ryan book I just finished.

I finished building the BMW R75 I'm using and primered it this past weekend. I brought it out to show a couple of friends and they freaked out over the detail. Approve [^] I did go a bit crazy and besides the PE kit I added to the model, I also threw in the brake, clutch and electrical cables coming off the handlebars. Also, all my figures are now sanded, primered and ready to be painted...gotta get some pics and post up!

Hernando, shtepsela wants to play...you're gonna have to tell him he's on the wrong continent Evil [}:)]

Cheers!

thanks eric. I used some really fine cheescloth. The screen door type of stuff is just about the exact same size so I bet it would work just as good.

I want to add a German slogan too. I want to do Victory or siberia, I think its Sieg oder Siberian, Not 100% sure though.

When I did my BMW R75 I took a whack at doing the brake and other cables, Lets just say I had a frustrating time. For some reaseon It didnt go easily for me. I still got paint that thing......

I can understand the 'frustration'...after finishing with the cables I considered the fact that I may have missed my calling as a surgeon Laugh [(-D]

Anyway, last night I managed to get an hour in on the new Steyr comander wagon that recently arrived. Ican't believe the size of it! I found out that it was actually built on a truck chassis! I'm going to have to re-think the entire composition of my dio now.

Cheers!
