tamiya.....contrary to there usually pretty good kits....this one is real badly detailed
well started my sdkfz251....the panel needed a lot of extra detail... the entire interior is just crap. i needed to do sooo much scratchtbuilding and i dont even have the seats on!!!
i just need to paint the driver and put him in then i can glue everything and get the interior in. didnt buy a driver took a panther tank driver, put his a$$ under a flame and formed his legs to fit the controls.

Hey All,

Just a quick question. I was thinking of joining this build. I have been paiting figures to put in a diorama with either a Kubelwagen, schwimmy or a 251 that I have already done. IS this accpetable or would I have to build another vehicle?? Thanks.

If the Thread gets lost in the far reaches of the Forum(ie couple pages behind) just say bump to put it at the the top.

hernando, you should copy the information from the thread you started in the Diorama forum to the first post here, as I'm assuming this is to be the official thread.

Okay, now that I know how this works I'd really like to get in on it...it's my first dio AND my first GB!

Actually, it's somewhat started already, but barely (I'm still buying models) and this'll give me some real incentive to keep on it!

Anyway, the idea for my dio is a street fighting scene in the Battle for Berlin done in 1/35 scale. The tenative title is, 'Red Tide Rising'. Now...how do I post one of those nifty badges onto my sigConfused [%-)]

I'll join in, I've done some sketches of a pather with track damage(I.E. broken) going up a hill(a railroad track levy), with a brick building next to it with a machinegun team in it, firing away at the onslaught of russians

abdiel- right click on one of our badges (the dio one) go properties copy the url, then go to update profile, then where it says pictures and text put the url in between this (no spaces) then press update profile and ur done!
still goin at a snails pace with this 251, i glued the driver and need to paint him THEN I CAN FINALLY GLUE SOMETHING!!! then on to scratchbuilding the rest of the interior!
i think this is gonna take forever!! seeing that i have to build three floors a street and rubble!

Got in late last night, but had a chance to get an hour in and do some converting on my Legends motorcycle rider figure that'll be sitting on a BMW R75 in my dio. The figure originally is looking down and pointing with his right hand to a map, but I've got him now looking to his right and holding his unslung Mauser as if ready to join in the fighting.

Sanding down the sleeve and adding a button strap at the wrist to match the kit parts was challenging and fun. I like swapping around all these parts and pieces to get the look I need...sure beats the contstraints of building kits straight outta the box!

Everyone else having fun?

I also need to add some progress photos. I have three German Recce figures about half way done. I should be able to add the camo to at least two either tonight or sometime this week.

well, heres some progress pics: this is the building facade im doin, im gonna make the floors later, but u can see the damage i inflicted on it, its all one piece of wood, i chipped the holes in, painted it balck, painted on bricks, then again with black, i like how it looks: and heres a close up of the damage: and heres the little progress on the interior of the sdkfz251 it took alot of scratchbuilding in the inteioir because of the kits poor detail

Well I thought I would post some progress photos. Here they are. I used Tamiya's schwimmy kit and their Recce figures. Plan on doing a small dio with them. The figures are being painted as SS. I might make it somewhere in Normandy just after 06/06/44. We shall see. Let me know what you think please. This is only my second attempt at camo. Not sure if I like it or not yet.

have fun! lolBig Smile [:D]

Jeff, your figs look excellent for just a second attempt. Just a couple of notes, you painted the boots and the gear brown, but the real things are black. And on the guys who has the darker gray pants, it looks like there is some plastic showing just above his boots. A fine tipped brush will fix that right up. Overall, nice work!

I have no progress, I will be starting on my build sept 1st. I will be doing the scene from BOB where they knock out the stug.
