Thanks for your comments guy! Most of the parts have been painted by now, but still need some minor corrections; but the main painting work is over now. I now have to bring all those subassemblies together before glueing them on the bridge.

I definitely use PE parts for this kit. They are mostly used on the machine guns, as you have noticed. The single 20mm gun enjoys an extra PE framework and sight, while the 37mm shield uses shield hands (left and right), two handwheel mecanisms (left and right of the pintle), a hand crank conduit (with a modified handwheel), two footrest layers, as well as some other parts to be mounted on the gun itself (which should be ready soon). The double 20mm comes from another PE set, but I used a lot a plastic pieces on this one; the gun barrel and shield are white metal, and I used the PE ammo clip parts as well as the gun sight - but nothing more.

I chose to paint the inner shields of my guns in a slightly darker gray than the outer shield, as my research have shown. It's hard to see on my pictures though: I only use a webcam and shoot most of the pictures after sunset (and it's been raining for a whole week, so I didn't really see any sunsets). But I'll try to borrow a digital cam when the kit is built so I can share some better pix with you.

But taking pictures is no easy task when you have to protect your other models from your marauding cat, always eager to explore new forbidden territories (like the shelf where my planes are stored - by the way, the only model that really freaks her out is the Me262 and its aggressive sharky look). Here you have two pictures taken by a security camera showing the cat just a second after it has been located next to aircraft models, which had the effect of instantly launching an automatic and quite effective vocal alarm...

Nice work on the guns ImperatorRex.  Looking forward to see the rest of it!

Chris, I have scanned the image, the depth charge is at the bottom of the page near the wheel (No.104 I think).  The image is rotated wrong here.

Bob, I can't help you with that one sorry.

Rex great looking work, I love the detail you've put in there.

Progress, well I have actually made some progress on the weekend with a fair amount of the resin cockpit completed.  Nothing worthy of a photo op yet, but at least I'm making some headway.

Cheers

Tom, I'm in the same position.

Once the big little Heinkel (1/32 He162) is complete for the BfG GB, then I can start on the little big Heinkel (1/72 He177)!

Everyone is making great progress, cany wait to really join in.

Karl

A lot of good work being displayed here.  Good job all.

I made a little progress on the Avenger today-painting interior components.  Had planned on not using the pre-painted Eduard PE that I had purchased (other than the harnesses) to save time.  However, this AM kit does not include decals for the instruments, so I will use the instrument panel.  Might have to look at the other bits now..... Two questions for the resident experts in the group:

1) The Eduard instructions call out to remove the instrument console to the right of the main panel-correct or not?

2) The TBF-1C that I am building is circa May 1944-USS Block Island.  Would it have had the Yagi radar?

Thanks

Bob

Tom: I think you're going to need the woekbench clear due to the size of the thing neveer mind distractions.

Jay/Chris: I found this website while researching the Sunderland and it has a photo of the depth charges being loaded on it. Not sure if they would be the same as what was used on the Canso but it may be helpful.

I can't link the page right now as I am at home on my Mac but you can copy/paste it into your navigator.

Hillbilly - love that Kingfisher!  it was hard to see, but that rigging for the floats with the guitar string looks good!  I'll have to go on ebay one day and order me up another one of them... I've always loved that plane!

I'm finishing one more build for another GB then I will be in here pluggin away with the S-100, it's going to take me a bit to finish it so I wanna have the desk clear when I do it.

JAY I reailized that the kit canopy and blisters will hide most of my detail work so I'm thinking of getting the Squadron vac form set and i found Eduard has a 1/72 gunsight set that i can use to finish up my K-guns TTFN

Chris, I have been really busy and it looks like this weekend there will be no rest for the wicked.  I have a freinds cd-release party tonight then a company bonspiel (curling)tmoorrow, then guests tomorrow night then Sunday all day working on the basement and going out Sunday night!  I'll have to get you the pics when I slow down a bit next week.  I found this one www.pby.com check it out: http://www.pby.com/WebPages.nsf/Photos+PBY-5A/NArc.01 I know it is American but at the beginning of ww2 the Americans used british style depth charges.  The drawing I have looks different.

The more I look at it, the more I feel I need to add something to the pit and blisters, I'm just not sure what.  The kit pieces just seem a little too plain and generic.  I'll figure something outBig Smile [:D].

JAY I finished the guns and added some framework inside the hull of the observer/gunner positions, and was working on the eduard PE details in the cockpit and gunners positions when my jitters started. I still have not been able to find pics of a depth charge as yet,if you could pop that pic you have up it would be greatly appreciated thanx Pirate [oX)]Thumbs Up [tup]

So Chris, I can't  remember, what have you done on the PBY besides the guns you posted a few pages back?

I've got the interior painted and all the interior pieces ready to glue together.  I also have the top wing all glued together, I just have to sand and clean it up.

I'm thinking of doing the model in two main assemblies. One is the top wing and all it's compontents.  The other is the fuselage and all it's commonents.  I think lugging the whole thing around with the wing glued on will be rather cumbersome for painting, etc, so I'm going to leave the top wing off right up to very end.

Also don't forget to add ballest in the nose!   BTW did you ever find a good picture of a depth charge?  I found one of an american depth charge that is included in a cut away drawing I have.  Would you like me to scan it for  you?

Hillbilly: Nice work on the kingfisher and "IT FLOATS TOO" that is way cool!!!

Rick: Thanks for catching that Pacific scheme issue and for speaking up. I know that should be my job as moderator of this build but I missed it.

Wulf: I get involved in so many of these GB that I often get confused myself. Let us know what you figure out.

Work on the He-115 has temporarily been suspended.  Making some changes to the works area for a little more storage and a better general setup.

Also need to do some last minute adjustments to a few models that I will be entering into my 1st contest at my clubs annual extravaganza…

http://www.finescale.com/FSM/CS/forums/591948/ShowPost.aspx

I was looking over my P-40 just to make sure nothing had broken off and I found 4 holes in the fuselage on the bottom.  DOH!  I never put on the drop tank.  Fortunately it was sitting quietly in the spare parts box waiting for me.  Also want to try and correct a few thing that were critiqued on my 1/24 Fw 190 D-9 at my last club meeting.  As soon as that all gets wrapped up…I’LL BE BOCK

Wulf, still looks good to me, good job on the Dauntless.

Hillbilly, nice looking Kingfisher.  A little fuzzy though for the pics, couldn't see much of the detailed shots of the progress.
