Hey all… I’m Bach… sort of.  Was taking a break and spending some time on the website.   Just read through ALL the pages I missed and some great looking stuff…. Nice detailing Rex and great job on the pit Rick.  All that OOB?  WOW, nice kit.

Not really liking my choice for this GB… old kit that needs a fair amount of work and the decals are… well… a steaming heap.  Having just gone through that with the 1/24 190 for the BoG GB I think I need a little shake and bake I may jump over to the OOB 1st jet GB and come back to this one with a Helldiver… if AM ever sends me the new canopy I have called about twice.  SO I am not ready to relinquish my badge yet.

Seriously it will be a huge job and i'm not all that sure whether or not to start straight away or wait and see if CMK release anymore interior sets, a full length interior would be very tempting.....

Well, better late than never, hopefully, I finally got around to completing the cockpit on the Tamiya 1/48 Swordfish.  No, this isn't an April Fools Day joke, here are the pics to prove it .

Hey fellas, some very nice work happening here, all the models are looking great....

As for me i havn't done anything on the U-boat for a while not since my last post anyway, I'm up to the sanding the deck stage and it's a big deck, i may call into the hardware and get some more glasspaper today after  work so i can get a little done tonight....

And i'm afraid that i have done something rather rash, last week i recieved my squadron catalogue and i couldn't help it i had to order..........

1 another U-boat (revell 1/72)

2 another eduard pe set

and 3 the latest interior resin detail sets, torpedo room, control room and engine room all from CMK....

at a cost of over $200:00 US it should keep me busy for a very long time..........

I should be able to make some headway on my Helldiver this weekend, so hopefully I'll have some pics to post by close of business Sunday.

Nice to meet you! Now I need to get started researching the aircraft. Pacific was a breeze but Atlantic, now that's gona take me some effort.

hkshooter:  I would be Dave (the evil and ruthless moderator of this group build) and the SBD sounds great as long as you do it in the Atlantic paint scheme like Jay mentioned.  I will add you to the front page and I look forward to seeing your build.  Welcome to the madness!

Rex:  The build is looking really good.  I have a cat also, a siamese... which is a truely evil breed.  He has only damaged models twice, once when he was a kitten he chewed a prop up on my Hasegawa 1/32 Zero and again a couple of years ago he was being chased by my daughter and her friends who were tying to dress him up in barbie doll clothing.  He jumped up on my shelves trying to escape and knocked over several models with books landing on top of them.  Ouch!  He is 14 yrs old now and generally stays out of trouble.  We had another cat that we had to have put down last week.  He was diabetic and not in good health.

This is not for this group build but as the topic is very applicable to this one I thought I would post a pic here as some people had requested earlier.  This is the Airfix Sunderland in Canadian 422 squadron markings.  more info and pics will be posted shortly on the Canadian GB thread

hkshooter, Dave (Razordws) is the moderator of the GB and don't forget, the SBD should be painted in the Atlantic scheme.  One of the participants totally forgot and did his in the Pacific paint job.

Well, I don't 'know who Dave is but  tell him I'm going to build Accurate Minature's SBD-3. It was between that and the TBF-1C but I like the Dauntless a little more.

You can join in almost anytime as long as you follow the GB rules (as posted on page 1 of this build).  The end is in August so I'm sure Dave will add you to the front page, just let him know what you want to build then go for it!, make sure you post progress pics as you go!

I have a question. What's involved with being in a group build? Can I still get in?

Do you just say "Hey, I'm in and this is what I'm building?"

i found some plans on a internet one set of plans is for a 1 foot wooden model u build from a hunk o wood the other set of plans are really superdetailed scale unknown but show a lot of detail anyway at least ill get to try my new wood chisels out it should be instristing i am also trying to find a benson class destroyer plastic kit

thanks tom, just got back home from offshore in gulf of mexico was going get some pics with high dollar digi cam at work of little killer bird and e-mail them to all you guys but as fate would have it our computer at work caught a virus and it fried the hard drive and cooked the computer so it will be awhile but i am working on it. finally i decieded on my next project  and it's wood no it's not a martlet OOPS i said the M word sorry!!

it's a benson class destroyer #603 THE U.S.S. MURPHY it was the only destroyer to be cut in half by the 8000ton BULKOIL while escorting a convoy to new york city it happened 80 miles off new jersey when the O.D. miss judged the radar range and was turned right in front of the BULKOIL AND WAS CUT IN HALF the BOW sank taking with it 35 lives while the stearn remained AFLOAT was taken into tow and and arrivied in new york less than 7 days later was put in drydock and  7 months later was put back in service and was finally broken up for scrap in 1970 it was the only ship in the U.S. NAVY to sustain SUCH HORRIFIC DAMAGE AND still get back into the fight A TRUELY REMARKABLE  STORY I THINK IT WOULD BE A FITTING TRIBUTE TO THE BATTLE OF THE ATLANTIC!! IT CAN BE SEEN ON DEEP SEA  DETECTIIVES ON THE HISTORY CHANNEL!!I IT WAS A TRUE MISTERY TO SOLVE!!
