Much congratulations Jay-- if anything is going to reduce your modeling, it might as well be your kids-- he looks like a healthy little guy too!

It's a...BOY!

As some may have noticed, I haven't been around lately because on May 22 my wife went into labour and at 1:15am on May 23, little Matthew Nicholas Boutin was born.  So here's a little picture of him a few days after we got home.  The last week has been really crazy so to all the people I am in GB's with, all bets or off as to whether or not I'll finish them in time.  If you want to see more pics, you can go to: http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i107/mattapriljay/

BTW:  Speaking of kids and life in general.  Isn't Jay and his wife due to have their first born right about now?  Haven't seen Jay on the forums at all this week.  Hmmm...?

NO problem Tom, I hope you can make it but I may have to drop out of a couple myself so I totally understand.  Too many models and too little time. Sad [:(]

Karl:  my oldest is 12 and I am being extremely optomistic that he will move out at 18 (and even more optomistic that he will not move back at some point Dead [xx(]).  There is also no guarantee that my wife will relinquish the entire use of the room for models.  It will likely have to be split between my models and her scapbook/sewing stuff until the second child moves out.  It would still be a better arangement than the garage though.

Only 6 years.......

........I've got at least another 12 before my youngest leaves the nest, and then it will only be temporary if she goes off to University!

I would have got the Greif done yesterday, but ended up spending most of the day in Ikea looking for a new desk for my wife.

Looking forward to the finsihed pics of the Grief Karl.

I've heard about the 1/72 Revell AG Condor and of course I am super excited about it. The list of "must build kits" keeps getting longer and longer and like you I don't have tons of display space until my kids grow up and move out (at least 6 years to go). To top it off my wife is talking about renovating which means I have to relocate my modeling desk to the 'other' corner of the garage... Sheesh!!! The fun never stops.

Dave, looking forward to seeing some progress pics of the 290. I've been having fantasies of building one of these monsters, but considering the size of the Greif, for which I've already had to make shelf space, and the impending arrival of a 1/32 Fw190, not sure where I'd put it.

Rumour is Revell are on for an all new 1/72 Condor this year............

.....we must have modelling display room!!!!!

Scott, I know that feeling. Some weeks it feels like you've achieved nothing, and aren't even sure which way is up!Confused [%-)]

Progress Update

Greif almost done.

Practically everything is attached, and matt coated, I just need to add the oil cooler flaps, crew hatch and Fritz X missiles.

The masking of the prop spirals went better than expected, and I didn't have to touch in any dodgy masking.Big Smile [:D]

Most of the weathering is done as well, so this bird should be done by the end of the week, with pics to follow.

Chris:  It was volume 28 no. 2 of Scale Aircraft Modeling (from the UK) and it was only a two page article but had 3 or 4 good photos of the catapult structure and attachments.

Progress:  I'm almost done my Ar 234 for the Luft'46 build and I have started painting the interior of the Ju 290.

Chris: I don't know what issue off hand but I'll take another look next time I'm at the store. It had lots of detailed pics of the catapults.

Great progress on the Swordfish, Greif and Avenger.  I've stalled a bit as life has been busy, but I hope to get some work done next week.

Hey, wasn't someone talking about doing a Hurricane launched from a catapult off a merchant ship (Thad?). I just noticed flipping through magazines at the store the other day that one of FSM's competitors (Scale Aircraft Modeler... shhhh!) had a good article with lots of pics on that very subject.

Dave that would be me for the WWII carrier aircraft GB what issue was that I'm still looking for good pics of the catapault as my "Hurricat" is just about done

as for progress on my Catalina my solution for the nose weight issue was superglueing 10 pennies into the form of a shotgun slug lol and then gluing it to the rear of the cockpit wall and adding a few more under the cockpit floor on top of the nose gear well now I just need to get my hands on my friends camera to get some danged picsTongue [:P]

Rick, congrats on reaching the 10K mark.

The Stringbag is looking great, what primer are you using?

Bob, the Avenger looks stunning, looking forward to seeing it complete.

Progress Update

Spent much of last night cleaning up, attaching and painting the mass balances, actuators, and towel rail antenna.

Also got the main gear legs on, along with a couple of the main wheels, there being 4 in total on this baby!

I've got so used to building fighters, I'd forgotten how much more complex large bombers can be, this build seems to be taking forever, but it's only been a month!

Rick: What can I say. I aspire to be an old retired guy like you with all kinds of time to build models, play golf and hang out on the web with fellow geek model builders!!! (wink) Maybe some day eh! Congradulations!!!

Bob: The Avenger looks very good! (thumbs up) I like the Atlantic colours on it.

Rick-Congratulations on 10,000!  Does that come with some kind of award? Wink [;)]  Also, your Swordfish is looking good.  Looking forward to more progress pics and notes.  I would like to tackle one someday...maybe.

Well, I decided to bag the stencils on the Avenger-for time and sanities sake.  Also, I made the mistake (maybe) of following the instructions regarding the placement of the fuselage insigina decal.  The instructions show it at a definate angle-so I placed it so.  Oh well, there's always next time.  The Avenger has received another coat of Future over the decals and will get an oil wash sometime this weekend...along with getting the engine painted & completed, along with the landing gear....maybe..

Bout time I posted some progress.  I've been plodding along with the Swordfish, but now all of the major components are assembled & primed.  Like most Bipes, they need to be painted & assembled as modules. This kit is designed so that the wings can be built either extended or folded, which further complicates matters.  Anyway, here is a pic of the basic airframe, ready for some color to be sprayed.

Rushing to completion, only slowly Smile [:)].

Regards,  Rick

EDIT:  Just noticed this was my 10,000th Post.  OMGBig Smile [:D]
