Sign - Ditto [#ditto] on the pit Bear.  Nice work.

Major decals are on the Avenger.  Fighting the urge to NOT put all the little stencils on the plane.  Especially since this is a very old set of decals.  Will flip a coin tonight to decide.....

Bear, nice job on the Lanc pit.

Is the PE re-painted?

Progress Update

The Greif is almost complete, just a whole host of details to paint and attach.

The spiral decals for this kit are complete pants, and looked totally awful, so I ended up sanding them off, and am going to have a go at masking them. Not tried that before........

It's a 3 day weekend in the UK, so I'm hoping to get this bird done by Monday, then I'll post some pics.

I went back a bunch of pages... have not been around as much lately...

Karl, HKshooter, Marc, Jay, Bob... All of you have made some great looking progress.

If I didn't go back far enough and missed some progress my apologies... not leaving anyone out on purpose.

Bear, sorry to hear about your wife, man. Hope she gets better soon!

That makes me want to build a Lanc! But where would I put a 1/48 Lanc?

Thanks Dave, Yeah those PE sets are great they realy make the crew compartement look good.  My wife won't be a happy camper if she's stuck with that cast for more than a couple of weeks it's only been 5 days and she's already climbing a tree.

Cheers

Looking good Bear! Those Eduard PE instrument panels and seat belts sure help to punch it up a notch. Sorry to hear about the missus. I've done that twice and they can take a long time to heal.

All progress is on hold for the moment. I'm having huge issues with the cowls where the upper gun cowl, the intermediate cowl and the engine cowl meet. It's not a lousy fit issue either. I could fix a crappy fit problem. The kit parts are not engineered to go together. The gun cowl is wrong in every direction. I emailed AM two weeks ago but still have not got a reply.

This is my first Accurate Minatures kit build but I have a stack of them waiting. I really hope this is not what I have to look forward to with the others.

Reading everyones coments on how well the kits are engineered it makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

Nice looking pit hkshooter!

Karl, ah yes... the blue tac camo scheme. Very Cool!

Hey, wasn't someone talking about doing a Hurricane launched from a catapult off a merchant ship (Thad?). I just noticed flipping through magazines at the store the other day that one of FSM's competitors (Scale Aircraft Modeler... shhhh!) had a good article with lots of pics on that very subject.

Quick progress update.

Camo still needs tidying up in a few places.

Hopefully I'll get that done today.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

A little more progress after a couple of days break.

The excellent reference pics I have show the rudder links as cables, not rods like the kit part appears to be. I challenged myself to make them better. This is what I got.

This is the kit part. My refs show the cable and roller but not the rod on the bottom so I removed it.

This is how far I've gotten on the cock pit floor so far.

Will post progress as it happens.

Dave, I didn't realize that. I was working under the assumption that Op Torch would still be ATO. Oh well. If you'll let it slide I'll still build it.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments.  Dave, I can't remember what the weights were but I had to buy two types so they would fit in all the nooks and crannies of the nose.  and I think I ended up putting just enough in to keep the nose down.  I'm getting close to painting the fuselage white, maybe in the next two weeks it will happen?Wink [;)]

Bob, great progress.

From the paint work it looks like you're getting on great with the Omni. My first double action was an Omni 4000, I still use it for area work, as it's like a hosepipe compared with the my 100!

My eldest has strong views on Megablocks, berating them whenever he sees them in the shops!

hkshooter, that interior looks great, keep those pics coming.

Progress Update

Spent last night assembling the second Fritz X misile, these are a mini kit in themselves, as well as the exhaust flame dampers etc.

Will attempt to tidy up the camo on the Greif tonight.

Then, depending hoe it looks, I'll post some pics.

hkshooter-nice work.  The AM SBD is a fun build.  One of the few planes that you can see all that interior detail after it is buttoned up.

Dave-Yeah, the Mega Blocks are something else.  I knew I was in trouble when I had to use a hammer to get them together....

Bob: Mega Blocks! Why didn't you say so in the first place!!! I know what they are, every once in awhile one of my kids will get a set for a birthday present from some less fortunate child whose parents obviously don't play with their kids (insert wink smiley here). I think a paint stand is a perfect use for them.

mkshooter: Nicely done, the SBD-3 looks great but you know that operation torch isn't technically part of the Atlantic theatre of operations. However, they had to sail accross the Atlantic to get there in the first place so I'll let it slide!

Here is the first pic. Interior of me SBD-3. Fuse halves are ready to go together at this point so I though I better take the pic before I forget and it's to late.

Thanks Dave & Rick.

Dave-don't cringe....they aren't 'real' Legos-they are Megablocks.  Look like Legos but not quite up to the quality standards of Lego.  Fit is just not quite as good as Legos.  Therefore, on some stands, a drop of superglue is required.  My son got a Megablock destroyer kit many years ago-like to drove me crazy trying to help get it assembled....nothing like any Lego kit we have.  My son has countless Lego kits-never a part missing!
