Interesting predicament...okay, the first carrier borne jet to score a confirmed jet to jet kill, I am assuming this since I know of no other Eastern Block jets in service over the 38th Parrallel. Allowed with one caveat...submit the aircraft that made the kill...AM/homemade decals are aloowed so this should open up the opportunity...

The only kit I know of the FH-1 that might be found is the 1/72 kit from MPM. It was one of MPM's first releases from a few years ago & was pretty basic but fairly accurate. It was a limited run kit, so probably not easily found. I keep hoping MPM or Czech Model will do a 1/48 version, but so far no go.

Sorry for the lack of response...just getting back onto my feet after a bout of the flu. Okay Tanky you're in...On the FH-1 Phantom I did a quick search @ Squadron, No Joy. I was thinking of the very type myself.

Wing-Nut...the IPMS guidelines do allow for AM decals. They do not narrow AM decals to ones you purchase, I say go for making your own!

Jerry...I think Eagle Strike Decals may have what your looking for. I go to Flight Decs via a link at ARC then check out the Eagle Strike site by the Flight Decs Link page.

Hey Joe, thanks for the link on the 262's. There is some very interesting reading there. I would like to do one of Watson's wizzers, but don't know about decals. I'm doing a search now.

I am staying with the P59 Airacomet for this build but I may be able to do "double first". I had a nice phone converation with the base historian from McGuire AFB, which is only about an hour from me, and he is looking up some photos for me of what he belives to be the first jet to land at the base, for an open house in 1945. So the combo of plane and marking and I can hit a double.

What's the ruling for making your own markings? Since I will more than likely have to do that, will it still be within the guidlines?

Probably with a yak. lol. At my LHS they have all sorts of crazy early russian jets.

But as my possible entry upon my possible entry into this GB (weird sentence huh?) put it down as the hf-24 marut. First jet to fly in the Indian Air Force.

OK, I'm in with a Gloster Whittle, by Chematic ex-Novo, ex-Frog. Almost no interior details, and a bit inaccurate for the exterior. Not sure what the decals are like either. As only a few pieces, it could almost be a Mad Day build! (first British jet, a research job, first flown in 1941)

The IPMS guidelines for OOTB are pretty simple. You build the kit as it comes in the box. The only AM allowed are seat belts, if they are not included in the kit, & AM decals in markings for the aircraft of your choice. No other AM resin or PE allowed. Multi media kits that include resin & PE detail as part of the kit are allowed, at least they were last time I checked the rules about a year ago.

The guidelines read like anything else from a large organization...keep it simple...AM decals and seatbelts are cool, scratching new IP's etc. would not be as would AM resin add ons...

Kinda glad the first jets won out. I'm in with a Classic Airframes 1/48 Supermarine Attacker. First jet to serve with Her Majesty's Royal Navy. I don't have a clue as to how to do a GB badge, being a computer Putz, but hopefully some talented computer Geek will show up Big Smile [:D] .

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Rivet Counters and Saturday Afternoon Builders...

Come one come all...in 2005 we had a great build with Out of the Box 1940-1949...Do not miss this years OOTB --- FIRST JETS!

Me262's, Meteors and Shooting Stars...Oh My!

This build will also include any jet that first served any air force.

The Build will follow IPMS guidelines in regards to OOTB...AM Decals are acceptable. Also, if it is a mixed media kit and everything came in the same box, then it is of course OOTB!

Considering the crush of GB's for '06 the start date will be April 1 2006 (yes it is April Fools Day and yes it was done this way purposely) and the close date will be November 1 2006. Plenty of time to complete the Atlantic Combat participants, Ace's mounts etc. etc.
