usernameunknown, I do not know if there'd be a problem or not.  I believe that Greg will have the final word on this.
Greg, what do you think  Skipper? How does the group feel about this?

Being a r/c enthusiast, even though the missus won't go for it anymore ($), I would beg you to post pics of the radio setup!  Thanks for jumping in on the GB, there are some really great boats being made.

Depth charges on American-built Vospers
Posted by Mavrik on Sunday, October 8, 2006 7:37 AM

Hi,

There is a thread on Revell's Vosper I am building in the Ships section: http://finescale.com/FSM/CS/forums/681661/ShowPost.aspx

And I have a question for all our PT-boat experts. I want to know, which DC racks the American-built Vospers were equiped with.

I suspect, that the builders used the same racks as for the US PT boats. Is it true?

Thank you and best regards,
Oleg

Without factory documentation, it's impossible to say with certainty.  However, if you look at photos and Vosper/ELCO drawings of this unit on RN and USN boats, you'll notice that they are very similar, if not identical.   Same goes for those fitted to the 63' PTCs lend/leased to the Soviets.  There's an excellent photo of PTC62 with them fitted in Friedman's US Small Combatants

John Lambert has drawn this rack.  He sells them on his website (www.lambert-plans.com) and included them in our Allied Coastal Forces of WWII, vol. 1.

Well, shoot.  Ed, you were one of the big movers and shakers for this event.  Whatever happens, be sure to post pics of your completed PT boat when you can!

For anyone working on an 80' ELCO for the build, I've uploaded a couple photos to my site (www.coastalforcesplans.com) in the "References" section that may be of interest.  One is a photo of the helm from the ELCO Parts Manual and the other is a view looking up at the starboard shaft, strut, prop, and rudder.   The manual is full of photos of the various metal parts on the boats (bitts, chocks, cleats, deadlights, struts, rudders, etc.)  If you have a specific item you need to see, let me know and I'll see if it's in there.

Request permission to come aboard skipper.... The mission was scrubbed & my boat (plans actually) took a torpedo hit to the fantail Sad [:(]  Looks like I'll be working on my PT-109 again this weekend Tongue [:P]

No, but I've posted two taken from inside the lazarette.  One is looking at the transom, the other is looking to port.  www.coastalforcesplans.com  "References"

The person who sent them to me indicated this was PT589 and were dated 2MAR45.  The early boats would have been similar, but I'll have to go through my ELCO drawings to give you a better answer.

Other than some touch ups on the deck, I'd say I'm about 1/2 way there Greg Tongue [:P]  Still need to do the guns & torp tubes, attach the deck & paint...

It would be great to hear from everyone, and see some pics, of their PT boats so far...I know, we only have a few weeks to go !  Perhaps this weekend, we could look forward to some new photos? (yeah, yeah, I am one of the worst about posting work-in-progress)

Well, a group build with only two ships done is kind of silly...I am going to extend the deadline, again. But, those who have finished their ships and sent me the pics will get bonus points for being on time !

This time of year can be hectic for everyone, I know...it is for me!  If anyone has a problem with waiting for a bit for the judging, let me know:
