Hi Kenny,

I'm not a vetran but my father flew 20 years in the RAAF.

I'm starting a build of an F-111C for him for christmas and would really like to have this model included in this group build if that is ok with you. I know it's a stretch of the rules and I understand if you can't do it.

It's more the model being a tribute to my father and his service to my country than another GB badge to my signature.

Thanks for your time

Mark

Ok.  Here are some pics of my progress.   Hopefully i'll get some better ones tonight.  I'm borrowing a good camera.  This is going together so far so good.  The office was a pain, because the IP's didn't want to sit right

Hey John, that is some very nice progress, it's comming along very well. Sorry to hear that the progress has to stop awaiting a replacement part on the boom. Hope all is well with your health and you recover from the surgery. I was hoping to have some updates on the A-4 tonight but after sanding and prepping for paint the white for the undersides spattered on me last night. Sanded the problem areas today and it splattered again tonight. So off to the LHS tomorrow and will get a can of white and do it the easy way tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you guy's in case I dont talk to you by then.

Got the fuseluge together along with the main rotor, used the high set of skids instead of the short. Some birds used these in area's were more ground clearence was needed. Also added a 7-shot rocket pod used on some scout a/c(not commonly used) most carried mini-guns. Rockets were used to mark targets for gunships or fast movers. Still have the tailboom to do, but I am stuck waiting for a new half because of mis-molding, MRC is sending me one.

Hope you all out there have a good Thanksgiving, plan to be with my family.

Having a minor(I hope) surgical proceedure done on Tues. See you soon.

I actually am going to have time this weekend to continue on the build. I have nothing going on for once and  I told the wife i am locking myself intothe model room at least for a full day.  So she's going to her mothers with the kids.  an empty house with just me, music and plastic!!!!!

Thanks John and Kenny, got back home tonight and looking forward to doing some work this weekend. This is a funny kit, it's a Minicraft/Hasegawa which I have never seen before so that was interesting.  The kit is kinda like  ''good news, bad news'', raised panels but very fine ones and some really nice detail. At 1/32 scale it's very basic but a fun kit so far.

I am flying along now. Got all the big parts put together that is fuselage and wings with all the filling and sanding also complete. Despite the kits age not much gaps to fill and it helped considering the size. It will have to sit for a couple of day's as I am out of town with work until Friday. So here is the progress.

Thanks for looking. See ya later in the week. Kenny you are coming along nicely with that Hummer, keep up the good work.

Finally got some other builds out of the way and have settled on building an A-4F. It's a 1/32 Hasegawa of 70's vintage but still not to bad. It's also moving along quite fast by my standards. Have the front office finished and the fuselage and wings finished except for sanding, which will happen tonight  urrggghhhh. This bird will be a VC-12 scooter from the reserves stationed at Oceana in Va Beach Va. Here's some shots of the front office  and might have some more tomorrow.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Tom and thanks, been wondering how you were. Have had that old block myself at times, you will get back in the hang of it again.

Things have changed for me(no more work), I retired because of my health problems, but now I can really try to reduce the size of my stash along with babysitting my grandadkids

John - been a long time!!!  I haven't been on much lately but good to see ya!

yeah it's all bittersweet at times but after it's all over I always realize how special of a fraternity I belong to... glad to have served with you, even if it was more than a decade apart... just had the veterans day thing at work, it kinda surprised me... it was nice to catch up with some shipmates I just met today... ironically it was as if we had known each other for a long time.. (you know what I mean)

Carry on carrying on... and I'll be thinking about ya this Veterans Day...

BTW:  I havent built anything in a bit but seeing those choppers has me Jones'in to get that 1/48 Sea Knight and do it up right!  the '53 is too much for me right now as I am in a modeling block...

Talk to you later shipmate!  (honorary of course! Wink [;)])
