Looking good!

EDIT: I just completely finished my cockpit!! I re-test fitted the halfs and it seems better, so maybe with some super glue it will work Big Smile [:D] I'll get some pics up some time later.

I'm glad to hear that, Anthony.

My black-box kit and 1:48 Hasegawa F-16C just came in.  The resin
cockpit looks magnificent, but it also looks like it will require a lot
of trimming/sanding.  What is the best way to remove material from
resin parts?  I'm thinking dremel tool with a sanding cylinder.

As for the 1/72 bird, the rear deck is begining to take form.  I have a
LOT of work left to do in this area.

Looking good! As for removing the resin, I use my dremel tool, sanding wheel and cutting disc. Normal sand paper/sanding sticks work well too. Just don't breath the stuff in lol.

Good news Kenny!

I would have gotten more progress done, but the dam resin sets have not arrived so I can not continue :(

LOL - Kenny.  Sounds like she's a keeper, granting you some building time!

Anthony, that's the position I was in with my parts, so I bought another plane! Hehehehe
Which resin parts are you waiting for?  Are you getting the Verlinden gunbay & electronics?

I received the 1:48 vacuform canopy from Falcon models.  My first impression is
that it is a very nice product.  It will require some work to implement, and probably
some sheer luck.

On the 1/72 AFTI version, I sealed the canopy and did a bit more shaping on the
rear deck.

Yes, I am waiting for the gunbay/electronics aswell as Aires wheelbay. Hopefully they will come today Big Smile [:D]

I also sanded down my canopy, and diped it in future like 6 times, the scratches are still visiable Sad [:(] faintly, but still there, so I might dip it some more times, well see...

hmmm - that's not good news about the canopy.
Are you sure that you have completely removed the seam?

I have finnaly got some time when I don't have homework so I have some progress going on both the F-16B and F-2. I'll try to post some pics. this weekend or next. I also stopped by my LHS and they are having a huge sale including about a half-dozen F-104, some F-14s, and even a Hasegawa F-16 for $10. I think I might go pick it up this weekend.

Wow chex, that sounds like quite a sale going on.
$10 for a Hasegawa 1:48 is a terrific deal.

another day, another photo :)
this build-up area is taking me a long time...

5 putty layers so far (3 balsa / 2 Squadron white), and there are still a few
pits & voids to work out, as well as minor surface contour variations.

Hopefully, a few more nights of this and I can move on!

EDIT: oh yeah - i forgot to mention the balsa inside the fuselage.  I will
eventually drill & insert 1/8" diameter brass barstock to suspend the model
"in flight", similar to the P-51H that I completed recently.

Anthony, what grit did you use to sand the seam?  2000?

I read something on these forums about using toothpaste once.
Try a search.

I don't remember, but I know I did the same thing on my last canopy with the same grit sandpaper and it worked...

My LHS didn't have a 1/32 but I know I have one somewhere that just needs to be sanded and painted. And I just blew my cash today and bought a F-14, a Harrier GR. Mk. 3, a S-3, and a 747-400. I would have bought the F-16B someone beat me to the punchAshamed [*^_^*].

Ahh that's too bad lol, but you did get some good buys.

I got my cockpit done, well all the painting, still have to add some styrene around the tub to make it fit perfectly. I'll try and get some pics up later, the only bummer is that you might not be able to see the detail I put into itSad [:(]

Looking good Kenny! Did you have any problems fitting the two halfs together?? Ever since I put my cockpit in, I noticed that there is going to be a real problem...

If you are looking for the joystick, I have a extra that came with my Aires set that I could mail down to you...

I also have the Aires seat left over, I did not use it because I used Legonds older Aces II seat, there is some damage to the Aires - I guess when they took it out of the molds, but all the parts are there, nothing some super glue wont take care of...

Let me know,

Anthony.

Here is a photo of the plane that I am working on.  The decal set is from Two Bobs, and I got a CD with the decals that have a load of great photos Big Smile [:D] (the photographer has us modelers in mind) Big Smile [:D].  Got the Hasegawa kit opened, and I am getting ready to paint the different photo etched parts for the cockpit.

Cal. .50 Ammunition? Wazzat?Tongue [:P]

I got some bad news, boys. My GB joining spree resulted in to much purchases to catch up on, and not enough allowance money to catch up on it. I'm dropping out of this GB until further notice.
