The idea of this build is to update the excellent Moto GP 05 build that has been enjoyed by so many of us.

We hope to get some new interest going and provide a forum for Moto GP and GP bike enthusiasts and builders to share their builds as well as tips and information. Whilst the focus is on racing machines any bike builds would be most welcome. No limits, no rules!

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. Have been lurking on the GP '05 site for a while but thought I'd join this one as it's re-starting. Am based in the UK and build GP bikes, but am quite new to this! Am only currently completing by second bike - an M1 '04. My next project is going to be a super detailed M1 '05 with Crazy Modeller PE and Top Studio extras. I'm also using Rennaissance decals for the Xaus/Elias '05 Fortuna livery. Looking forward to sharing this build with you all and learning from the skills that you all seem to have! Cheers for now, Jez Smile [:)]

I've been wanting to build my little Yamaha YZR500.  If this turns into a group build, count me in.

I'm an armor builder, but when it is warm, I transform in to a Kawasaki riding knucklehead.  I'd like to build a good bike kit.

Nice to have some new guys on board and looks like this could get going. My building is unfortunately on hold till I get back to South Africa sometime in March. I think I am going to finally tackle the Rossi NSR 500 "Hawaii" bike from Rannaisance.

I have not shared this build before so will do so now. This was a commission build for a friend and was one I had wanted to build for a long time, though does not fit into my overall theme of Rossi machines.

Beautiful looking build Bushpig - your paint work is stunning. I presume this all airbrushed this model? Looks to be. Anyway, enjoyed seeing it and looking forward to contributing some pictures of my builds soon. Thanks for sharing this, Jez

Thanks. Yes I airbrush just about everything on a bike as I find this gives the most realistic effect. One has to come up with some novel masking techniques at times but the results are worth it. I use a 000 fine brush for the fine detail work but spray the rest. I am hoping we will entice Andrew Collodel into contributing, he is a goldmine of good ideas and methods.

So I found the thread Bushpig :-) I'll se what I will enter as soon as we get ourselves a critical mass. Great to see an armour guy entering! I look forward to getting some new aspects of the hobby.

Can I make a suggestion Bushpig? That you make a list of all the participants in the first post together with what they will build?

I moved this to the Group Build section per the request of the original poster.

Good Luck with your builds!

I'll soon be starting the Yamaha 500 unless I can find an old Kawasaki bike at my LHS.  I'm sort of a Kawasaki fan.

Thanks for making this an OFFICIAL group build.

Hi,

New thread was a good idea...the old one seemed to be dying. Im building the complete collection of GP bikes that Japanese rider Tetsuya Harada rode throughout his career. Ive posted a few 250s up already over in Autos and a 500 on the old GB, but this thread seems more appropriate now.

Im currently working on building the Aprilia RSW 500 V twin from 2000. Should add a bit of variety to things :)

I dont have much free time, and scratchbuilding/kitbashing is a lot more time-consuming than making a "straighforward" kit so bear with me if progress is a bit slow. Hopefully Ill get some pics up soon.

Cheers.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a 1:1 scale Aprilla.  Nice.

Hello all,

Count me in for Rossi's Nastro Azzurro NSR.  It's been on hold waiting on HLJ to ship my gunmetal spray paint.  I sure hope most of the old gang can make it for this new build.  So which one of you Photoshop wizzards can we count on for a GB badge?

Status: Nastro Azzurro NSR 500- finis!

Count me in! I'm about 90% done on the OTB Spidey bike, but not sure what the next victim will be. Either an old-style 03 RC211V (Repsol) or 04 M1, for which I am seriously contemplating breaking the piggy bank and getting the Top Studio detail set - looks awesome!

Great! I'm so pumped up! I got Rossi's Valencia RCV211 and Colin's '05 M1 Laguna Seca edtion for Xmas....so I'm almost done with the '04 M1 and I'll soon start a multi bike project...

I have to sort out the photo bucket deal and I'll be able to post pix.

Anybody going to Laguna this year?

Also, I'd like to know if anyone's interested in sharing pix of their display cases or dioramas...

thank you

You know I'll be in .Seeing as know end date I won't list what I'm building , lets just say that there 5 Duke's , 6 Yamaha's , 6 Honda's .

All are either 1/12 , or 1/9 scale most are GP bike's with a Dakar bike in there. There

are others including some that are in progress. Not

much been done at the moment as remodeling (technically still doing kit Confused [%-)] hobby room have

done joinery for desk , will be adding some display cabinets have made one (900x1200 with 4 shelves) , and have another 2 to build same size and all will be filled Tongue [:P] and that just for bikes .

Hi Fellas,

I haven't been around the forums for a long time, but I'm just starting to get back into thinking about building something. I still have my Rossi M1 that I started ages ago for the first GB. I might see if I can get somewhere near finishing that one soon. From memory I think it was turning out pretty well too. So if it's alright, I'll carry my build over from the previous GB.

And if really get going, I have a spidey M1 and a Rossi Nastro Azzuro 500...

My photobucket contribution...
Posted by racer155 on Monday, January 29, 2007 9:47 PM

Well, this is my first attempt at photobucket....not too bad, I need to improve the quality of my pix but at least I got something to share with this forum.

The body work is painted but I don't know what polish compound to use...any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Any constructive criticism also appreciated.

Hi Guys

Glad I found the new group build. Count me in with:

Johnny Cecotto '79 YZR500 factory bike

Barros lovely, '81 YZR500 NSR (if I can pluck up the courage to spray it)

'86 Moriwaki  NSR500 Honda

Decided to give the newer bikes a skip for a while and do some of the older bikes, which have some really bright colour schemes

Yamaha M1 2004 (left over from last MotoGp build)

This bike stood for more than a year, as I did not really come to grips with the s27 PE parts. 12 springs just on the exhaust. It is nearly completed will post pictures of finished bike by the weekend. No more PE parts for me it just takes too long and too finicky for my style of modelling.

Ducati GP4 Pramac (left over from last MotoGp build)

Tamiya instruct not to spray clear over the silver decals, believe Mr Tamiya, I didn't and the silver decals went crazy with millions of fine lines all over them, must have been a chemical reaction between the silver and TS13. Had to get another decal sheet to fix the mistake. Ooooops!!!!

Below pictures of finished bike

Barros 98 NSR 500.

Hi Nick

Not surprised you are confused, musty have paint in my eyes.

The bike I am planning to do is Barros 98 NSR 500.

The decal sheet is from Ragged Edge Design and is absolutely fabulous. Need some careful painting though, but end result should be very nice. Check out Ragged Edge Designs website for details etc

Hello again everyone, I have finally made it back to South Africa from Sri Lanka. My furniture is somewhere on the Indian ocean (I hope!) so will have to wait a few more weeks before I can pack the old airbrush out again.

Nice to see some enthusiasm getting going here. I have limited dial up capability at the moment but will update the build list as soon as I can.

If any of you have a chance to look at the Tamiya modelling magazine October 2006 edition there is a Barry Sheene Yammie in there that makes my eyes water every time I look at it. Absolutely stunning, especially the exhaust method which I will have to try at some stage. When I am more settled I will try and transcribe his method for everyone.

Happy modelling, Oh and welcome to Pingtang I am glad you will be with us on this new venture. I am sure there are a number of us who have you to thank for all the help derived from the build you started

Hey Andrew, two great bikes! Well done.

Still awaiting delivery of my detail set for the M1, so I'll do the 2003 RC211V. Will be using HiroBoy's paints - have anybody have any experience in using this set of paints for this bike? Thinking of doing the orange first, then mask off for the blackish base and the blue clear over that. Think the dark should cover the orange well enough... Aaag, that's just being lazy, maybe should just mask off the orange as well.

Stunning perfomance as always Andrew! You seem to have a vacuum modelling room as you never tend to have even the slightest particle of dust in your paint finishes. Perfection.

Someone mentioned the Barry Sheen bike in the October issue of Tam Mag, bike is built by Robrex over at Automotiveforums. Seldome seen a better bike kit, must give him that. master with his lathe.

/Joel - who haven't decided yet on what to build...I have a poll going on at my site, help me decide please.
