And anyone else diving into this 1/48 RODEN kit....have some putty handy! The fuse is fragile and there are sink-holes in the thicker parts. (Landing gear).....cockpit sparse so get a ref book. They give you parts......but very tiny!

HEY LOOK EVERYBODY!!!  NAM'S POSTING PICS!!!

Bummer about that cowl and those exhaust stubs, sounds like an exercise in frustration.  Sounds like perfect modelling weather you have there!  Model on my friend! Big Smile [:D]

Heh!..............posting an old pic............not too old....just a P/O pic......darn, I'm way ahead of this game.....but the seal has now been broken!

That was the written instructions for the Heller 1/48 Sea Gladiator. Step ONE!

This is the SeaGlad 3 piece cowling alongside a 1/48 Sev P-35 cowl. NOTE: With the SeaGlad there is no necessity to build around the engine! Why must they challenge me like this?

Yeah............see those short, tiny, infinitesmal exhaust thingies? Yep.....they want those to be cut off and glued into place! This IS 1/48 mind you! This is my second try at this build and I'm still looking for exhaust pipes!

No real progress here.....but at least I've posted a pic!Pirate [oX)]

Looks like you're off and running!  Which kit is this?  Some pretty good sized gaps inside the intakes but you appear to have squared them away. Thumbs Up [tup]

Hi Frank, it's the Revell kit.

Hey Frankie and all!

No work today........or tomorrow. Things are very slow. But the temp in the basement stays around 70-75.....even when it's near 100 degrees as it will be today. So building is on the agenda. It is almost a blessing!

Schools are all letting out early..........??????? Yep........we've all experienced snow days......but hot days? Come on! I attended this high school before it was air conditioned.

Buddy

Lewbud if you look at some of the pics of my swordfish I posted awhile back of the exhaust pipe and collector ring closeup you will see how I faired in the collector ring to the pipe with white glue. Its not genuinely a great filler as it does not have the sandability that putty has if you putit on a bit thick. It also shrinks really bad. It is also useful to fill the gaps around canopies that don't fit the greatest. Just experiment and you may find it better for you as a filler. I strongly suggest not sanding it, it never sets hard enough for that. Hope that helps some.Smile [:)]

Hi guys just some progress on the Hornet. Unlike most, I usually start on all the fiddly things such as weapons, under carriage and so on - because I find them so tedious, I try and get them out the way early. The intakes on this plane are terrible and some work is needed to get rid of this huge step.

So out comes the files and Milliput...

Other than that and the ejector marks in impossible places on the oleos...

The rest is coming together OK..

LOL, yes sometimes the pirate talk confuses me too.  Don't get me wrong though, I like it!  Just don't understand it sometimes.  Sure is fun to read though!

Geoff- Yes, please do post some pics!  We love seeing WIP photos. Thumbs Up [tup]

Nam- Which kit are you working on?  Sounds like a challenging way to start.

I have made a little bit o' progress on the Skyhawk this weekend.  The resin seat is primed and ready for some paint.  I also filed off the detail on the IP and the consoles in preparation for some Eduard replacements.  I have never done this before so filing off crucial detail was quite foreign to me!  I like the look of the PE consoles/IP parts that others have used, so I decided to have a go at them on this build.  So far, so good. Thumbs Up [tup]

Be up standing, and charge your glasses for veterans past and present. A moment's silence please ... We will remember them.  Make a Toast [#toast]

Now someone get the steward to issue out the Rum.

'tis the weekend again all, let us rejoice in the moment won by those that have gone before us.
