Ummm, I realize I'm splitting hairs here but why would you specify an aft recovery for a fixed wing aircraft when that is the only way for it to come aboard?Confused [%-)]

Sean,

Tell me which decal # you need and I'll send you one.  I plan on doing mine as a yellow wing bird.

Thanks for the kind words about my Crusader lads! Much appreciated.Approve [^]

Buddy, you are right, but on the Royal Navy carriers aircraft movements for launch and recovery are always announced by their operation and location. I guess its a British thing.........Whistling [:-^]

Great stuff there as Usual CAG!  I like the gunfighters.  You got a lot of great progress done! Should be rightly proud I'd say!

Bondo I have much the same issue? FAA or RAF? get them mixed up too easy. If I build an RAF thing that looks Royal Navy do you think he would let me slide?

Frank ! Help me out here! Nam I bet your a busy moving bee! I surely hope all goes smoothly for you and things settle down quickly!

Spike a model? What the heck?

I gotta catch up so sorry if I missed anyone. As always that would be Dave's fault! Make a Toast [#toast]

CAG- Thanks for the list!  Quite a few choices there I like. Thumbs Up [tup]

Was the Short Sunderland flying boat used by the FAA?  I didn't see it on the list but I thought they were used as well.

Ok, got a bit more done, these rotors are a real pain, usually they will have a substantial pin or a top and bottom split at the base to provide a good solid hold at the hub, but these are basically just glued to the side of the hub with barely even a nipple to locate them.

Aaron- Despite the challenges of the kit, looks like you are doing a bang-up job on it.  Well done! Big Smile [:D]

Sean- Love those Gladiators, can't wait to see yours!  And, good to see another biplane here for the upcoming FAAGB II. Thumbs Up [tup]

Sean- OOPS!  Sorry.

I have not built that one, though I do recall Nam having a very hard time with it last year.  I have Roden's Nieuport 28 kit, and overall it's pretty good.  All I have done so far is to remove and clean up some of the parts.  Most of the parts are very-well molded, though a few are not.  Unfortunately, those that are not are difficult to fix or replace.  They are no Tamigawa kits, and not as good as the Eduard offerings IMHO.  Perhaps nam will pipe in once he is all settled in to give a first-person account of that kit. Thumbs Up [tup]

AaronW looks like you soothed the pain of the rotors quite well!!!!! They look great in the pics!!!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Darren, another one I didn't see was the Percival Pembroke. I saw a couple back in '78 at the Watsonville Antique Fly-in in California but can't remember if they were RAF or FAA! Thanks for posting the list btw will give insight into what may be next! lol

Aaron W, That helicopter is almost there! Looks the biz with the rotor blades now!  Those are a pain with one set to get to look right and youv'e done it with two! I have seen fellows lay them inside of dinner plates and tape the edges to the plate just to keep the shape as they dry.  Yours are looking just right!

The color is dark. Maybe the camera but is it a dark scheme? Are you basing the markings off a particular bird and era?

Sean that is interesting. The Sea Gladiator in Markings of the Malta Defender. One of 3. Faith Hope and Charity I believe. The most famous of the FAA Gladiators!  I think Nam is working on that kit and he is the one to ask!

Frank I wonder how long until my super secret projects arrive?  About a week perhaps? Then I'll be ready for mischief!

Not 100% certain on that one.......the list is pretty reliable so I'd say it was likely an RAF bird.Wink [;)]

The Navy version of the Pembroke was called the Sea Prince. Deffo a Royal navy bird too. There's one sat not three miles from where I am at the mo. It's in a bit of a slightly rough state and is under restoration but I will try and get piccies of it some time soon but here's a linky to piccies of her http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?regsearch=WF122&distinct_entry=true

All the best.

DANG!  I was certain those were FAA birds.  Guess the amphibian part made me think FAA for sure.  While we're on the subject, does Merchant Navy aircraft and Coastal Command aircraft qualify?  My Swordfish has the markings for the Merchant Navy which I like and the Beaufighter I have has markings for Coastal Command.  Not trying to be difficult, just wanted to check on these as my knowledge of those subjects is shamefully limited. I'm not Frank, frankly, beggin' yer pardon XO, but if I may, I'm building an AN-12 by Roden now and I like it. It's on a par with Airfix, not top of the line but it fits together pretty well.

Ah a most convincing arguement! Bondo!  I can say I think Sean will choose to accept that challenge.  Nam should be able to shed more light on the kit quality on his return!  I hope his move is going well. I hate moving after so many in the military. I unpacked many a destroyed model from those dern army packers!

CAG! You got me all worked up! I'm gonna have to do something crazy now to put myself in the mindset! A couple of surprise projects  to liven things up a bit and give your production line of beautiful work a little competetion!  You and Aaron are ruling the pages with Gregger's inventions and Sean's clean builds sending my mind reeling!  Yes I do believe it is time to raise up!  Get off my keyboard and onto my bench!

Where the heck is Roy?  Did you guys leave him in the brig again?

Frank,

even though the Sunderlands were RAF birds, they did work very closely with the Navy, if you want to build one, go for it!  Coastal Command were RAF, however they worked along side the RN, and near as, did the same jobs-why not include them? As for merchant Navy, you have me there! My guess is if its British and naval-then it counts!

What I'm saying is, as long as you're sticking to FAA, or its associated units...Coastal Command etc. then go ahead and build the model you want. Remember, its all about having fun around here.Approve [^]

Aye, Sir be that the case then once again I change me' course, more times than a Spanish brig in a gale! The Seafire, whilst a prettier bird as ever there was, may need to wait on account of it's really expensive, and this was declared Chez Bondo "the year of the stash" so I'm in with either the Whitley, or a Sunderland both in Coastal command colors.
