Let's try this again, posted it first in the RA GB by mistake!  Blush [:I]

Couple of quick photos of the pit before I close it up.  1/72 Tamiya corsair.

Seatbelts are actually an old RAF set I had laying around.  Never got around to ordering some for the USN and the seatbelt decal that came with the kit looked awful.

Excellent work Dave!  Is this one gonna be an FAA bird, or USN/USMC?  With those UK style seatbelts, an FAA Corsair sure would look cool! Big Smile [:D]

I have the fusalage closed up and the resin pit is finished.

Yesterday afternoon I lost a friend and a co-worker.  We've known each other since high school lost contact after.  8 years later we found out we had picked the same profession.  Became good friends again.  Bought houses 1/2 a mile from each other.  Last summer during the gas crunch we rode our bikes to work together.  He was my son's godfather.

My friend Ron Bollacker who was 40 years old died of a heart attack while delivering his mail route.  He left behind a wife and 3 children 17,13,and 10.  I am an absolute mess.  I know that dying is a part of life but it hurts when it hits so close to home.

Johnny, I'm very sorry for your loss.  Nothing any of us can say that will take the pain away but please know we are thinking of you and hoping that you find a way to deal with it.  I lost a sister a couple of years ago to cancer.  It's hard knowing that they will be gone very soon but it must be doubly hard to lose a friend so suddenly and not have a chance to say goodbye.  My faith that death is just another stage in the journey of life sustains me through difficult times like this and I hope you will find some comfort in that knowledge too.

Yep... John.   I'm going to get some coffee.  I planted some Tomatos yesterday and a Lime tree.  Sure feels like some rain is coming. I guess that's ok cuz it is needed to make other things grow.

I recently conducted a little kit swap, well little from me and a lot from Summit, who is a fine officer, in which I obtained a crate full of little surprises, almost as cute as Lab puppies! Thank you Sean for the Amiot 143, the Potez 540, the Grumman Duck and the Spitfire Mark 16.

That last one perplexed me a little, as it's neither a floaty thing nor a strange subject.  But then it struck me, after learning absolutely everything I know about Spitfires yesterday evening, which is obviously very little. Yes, Aaron, I know, I'm talking to myself again.

Israel had a large quantity of Mk 9's obtained from Italy. They would appear to me to have the same wing (FL?), armament (e?) and bubble as the Mark 16(EDIT: not true- the XVI has a lowered rear deck and full bubble canpoy, as does the kit, but the IX has the earlier hood. But you all knew that. Oh well).. I realize the engine is different, but does that show externally? Remember this is at 1/72. So I throw myself at the mercy of the Supermarine experts and ask, can the Heller 1/72 Mark 16 be built credibly as a Mark 9? I do like my IAF subjects.

Bill, I have that same kit and there are some issues with it.  See this review for the write up.

BTW, did you see my earlier post with the link about the Aviology Sunderland decal sheet?

Satrting to look like a Corsair!!! Propeller [8-]

Frank to answer your question earlier I'm finding this kit to be typical Tamiya quality except for the radiator plugs in the wing leading edge.  These were a poor fit but the lower wing section was pretty thin and flexible so I had a hard time getting the upper wing halves into the correct position.  Maybe I didn't get it quite right and that is why the radiators don't fit so well. They also have a plug behind the pit for the different canopy versions which looks like it has a bit of a step.

Dave- Your little Corsair is turning out well!  Must be a Tamiya thing with the wing inserts, the 1/48 version has the same problem.  Is that a three-piece wing (one piece lower and two piece uppers), or are there inner wing stub parts, and outer panels so they can be folded?

Frank, it's a three piece wing and does not give you the option of folding the wings. Sad [:(]

He went on R and R to 'Dago and was "taken" by a sea creature!

Nothing left of Spike but a floating, empty wallet. Same fate as happened to Nam.

I bet he is running around like a Ape with his arse on fire as hectic it has been along the southern border lately.

Hope all is well for him.

Wow it.s the weekend and no post? This won't do! Nam and Roger are still AWOL!  Looks like Capt.s mast for them!  The newly promoted Capt Bondo should be a very capable disciplinarian!  Oh cannot believe they would test such a man. Will not be pretty!

All in all I am eager to build some FAA stuff! The changeover is coming quick!
