Well my wife has us looking for a new house now.  I'm calling the mortgage company today to get the pre-qual process going.  We are looking at 3 on Fri.  Now I'm going to have to do a bunch of fix ups around here nothing major just nit picky stuff.  There goes my modeling time.  Maybe the new house will have a better place to have my benchMake a Toast [#toast]

Yup! good luck!

Yesterday, I started on the cockpit for my F4U-4 Corsair. The detail there is basic at best, but I might spruce it up a bit with stryene scraps. Not much progress, but I'm working on it. One note of disgust, the canopy and framing are seperate. It's nice that I can install the glass AFTER painting, but the plastic molded frame looks waaaaaay too thick. I'm contemplating making a new frame for the parts from some stryene. Any thoughts on this?

Any chance you could thin the framing by sanding it down?

Otherwise some thin styrene strips would probably work, but might be a bit of a chore to get it all straight.

Well I'm calling this done.  All of the glass required quite a bit of reshaping to fit, and there is a bit of a gap along the top of the canopy that I may come back to with a strip of plastic. This kit definately turned out to be a bit of a chore but I'm happy with the way it turned out.

As a recap since its been awhile since my last post, this is AModels 1/72 HUP-1. It was one of the USN's first rescue helicopters.

Aaron, great job. Didn't you put an engine in it? My trusty calculator suggests this little gem is about 5 1/2" long nose to tail! Sweet!

Aaron,

The Hup looks great.  Now all you need is a 1/72 Mickey Rooney in a green top hat!

Well it's 11:30pm here on the west coast and I'm ready for some Zzz [zzz].  I know this doesn't look like much progress since te last update but she's all buttoned up and ready for the paint shop.  You can see the putty around the radiators in the wings but other than that it has been pretty straight forward.

That oughta put a smile on Frank's face when he wakes up. Wink [;)]

The helo in that movie was an H-5 Dragonfly, and the model would satisfy your question. I hate helos myself, but it's a great model, Aaron

AaronW that looks great!!!! WELL DONE!!!!Thumbs Up [tup] I plan or planned on doing a whirly thing for the next FAA GB. Dunno at the moment. I just purchased Airfix's 1/48 Buccaneer!!!!! I couldn't pass it up!!! The detail is very good but kit reviews say there are fit issues (go figure), but overall a nice kit and I totally agree!!!! So, I must ask the question to the boss. CAG, IF I can prove a Buccaneer was an ex-FAA bird drafted into the RAF after dismissal from the FAA, would that still be permissable????????????? Because I sure want to share this beast with the crew so I can do it in the green and grey camo that I so love seeing these things in!!!!!

razor That is great progress!!!!!! Hope it all goes well till the end!!!!!
