Well, I finally finished.  Here are some pics, but my camera abilities still suck.  If I would have taken some time, I could have done better.  If you want to see anything in particular, just lemme know.  I made my typical ton of mistakes.  Besides the fictional decaling, you could pic out several issues with my build if ya wanted to.  Big Smile [:D]  However, it turned out ok for me.  I like the scheme and I did an ok job.  I'll be proud of it on the shelf at the office.  I can now better appreciate builds like this plane.  The splinter scheme and the canopy take some work.

Dave, having completed a somewhat different version of the Ju-88 (the A-4) for this GB earlier this year, I'll say you did a fantastic job!  Excellent job on the splinter scheme and your detailing work, like the antenna wiring, looks great!  Nice job of weathering too!  Thumbs Up [tup]

I can't see anything wrong with the photos, and I certainly can't see anything wrong with the model, very well done!

Thanks, guys.  I appreciate the comments.  There are some basic errors there, believe me, but I'll continue to work on them.  But I do enjoy a finished model.  At some point ya just gotta go with it and be happy with what ya produced.

Dave, that is simply AWESOME. We're going to have to invent some new adjectives for builds like this. Having the kit in my stash, I can also appreciate the size of the bird in your display case!

You've earned your bomber wings (on the first page)

Have any of you used the Eduard PE set 48246 for the Revell/Pro-Modeler 1/48 Ju88A4?  Are there any tricky things I need to be aware of?  I may need to ask some questions as this is the first PE set I've done that wasn't just the cockpit and it is just a little bit intimidating... just a little.   Laugh [(-D]

If y'all can recommend an easy (quick) 1/48 bomber kit, I'm in!  I have an He 177, an Fw 200, a bunch of seaplanes, and a Ju 88C-6 Nightfighter...any suggestions?  I want in, but there isn't a lot of time left...mebbe I should just Taped Shut [XX]

cardshark: We'ed love to have you in the build. If you think you can finish it in the next (almost) 2-months, definately have a go at it. I haven't built any of the three kits you've mentioned, but the TRumpeter Fw-200 and MPM He-177 look like they have a LOT of parts. carsanab can vouch for the He-177....it's a monster of a kit.  Some here have built the Ju-88 and can probably advise if it's a 2 month kit or not.

I hope you can join.

Pro-Modeller 1/48 JU88A-4 update.

Construction has finally begun.  The first order of business was studying both the kit and Eduard PE instructions since there are many PE parts that enhance or replace the kit parts.  Some of the kit parts require bits to be removed, and other areas to be built up or filled in.  It was a little intimidating at first so I spent lots of time studying the instructions and the parts to make sure I don't make any mistakes.  Shock [:O]

There are a lot of ejector pin marks that will need to be cleaned up on the cockpit floor however it's nothing that a little putty and a few swipes with some sanding sticks can't fix.

You can see the sink marks in the picture below.  You can also see a small block of strip styrene I've inserted into one of the cut outs that needs to be filled.  I need to shave off all the detail along that whole panel on the left side of the cockpit and fill in each of the cut outs.  Once all the recesses have been filled with strip styrene I'll sand the whole thing down with my sanding sticks to make one long smooth surface for the PE parts.  Burger [BG]

All right, Scott! Plastic pics!

I'm looking forward to this one. You're not kidding about the ejector marks, either.

Is there really a quick 1/48 bomber kit?  All kidding aside, I built the Pro-Modeler Ju88A-4 in probably about 2 months time, but I spent a lot of time waiting for an order to come in from Roll Models - Luftwaffe seatbelts, among other items, to enhance that bomber.  (I spent the down time working on my other build for this GB, a Pro-Modeler Do217E-5 until I reached the same stopping point awaiting that order from RM).

Any way, if that 88C-6 is a Monogram/Revell/Pro-Modeler kit, you should be able to complete it in time, especially if you are going to build it out of the box.

Well, after looking back at the first page, I noticed that ground attack was acceptable, so I'm gonna go to the lhs to find either a Ju 87 or, if they still have it, pick up the AMTech Hs 123. If I find something, count me in. I'll let you know when I get back. Big Smile [:D]

All the detail has been shaved, the areas that needed to be filled have been filled, and the ejector pin marks have been fixed as well.

The first pics show the strip styrene blocks and putty/CA in place.  Just for a goof I was checking to see which is easier for this kind of work, white putty, green putty and CA.  Pretty much a wash as they were all equally easy.

And here is everything all sanded nice and smooth.  The pictures are deceiving as it actually is much smoother than it appears.

Alrighty, well, it looks like I'll be entering with the 1/48 Revell Hs 123A-1.  This should be a fun, challenging build for me as it will be my first biplane. We'll see how it goes, and I'll keep y'all updated. Thanks for lettin' me in this late.Cool [8D]

Oh, and espins1, that looks like a great start...us late starters have to stick together, eh? Wink [;)]

Tonight I plan on building up the PE instruments that go all along the modified left side of the cockpit.  This should be fun.  There are places where 4 tiny levers need to be installed side by side on a width slightly more than an 1/8"!  Shock [:O]  What on earth did I get myself into!  Laugh [(-D]

Scott the before and after (PE) pics will be night and day. What you got yourself into was building a stellar aircraft.

I just hope I'm up to the challenge.  Shock [:O]  If all goes well I'll have some update pics for you all tonight.  Big Smile [:D]

Oh, and I've been doing tons of reading and research on the JU88, especially with regards Mediterranean operations.  Cool [8D]

Doh! Banged Head [banghead] I misspoke, its an AMTech Hs 123A-1 not a Revell kit. Sorry for the mixup.  Work will hopefully start tonight.

Alrighty, I'm getting some progress done, its not much, but I'm pleased as punch at how this is going.  Keep in mind guys, this is my first biplane, first resin bits, it'll be my first airbrushed kit, and the first time for me to modify kit parts...I have decided to build the unspatted version that served on the Eastern Front to stretch my skills a bit.

So far, I've done a bunch of cleanup work, removed the cockpit lining up bits in preparation for the Black Box cockpit, and removed a spat fairing. In the pictures (which I will post as soon as I figure out how to upload pictures off of my camera to my PC...Confused [%-)])you can see the before and after of the spat fairing...it may not look like much, but I'm excited!

While I'm posting, if y'all would be so kind, is there anything special I need to worry about with a biplane other than an extra set of wings? Wink [;)]
