I didn't know it was the half-century mark! The good point is that the rest of the B-Day's should be easy from this point. My approach is that a person gets to enjoy life a litte differently through each stage in his life, so I want to enjoy thoroughly each stage from the different perspectives. I enjoy modeling, for example, in a much different way now than when I was a teen, but I can say "I enjoyed modeling" in both cases.

I'm almos done with by my F-84 (waiting on replacement decals) and P-36 for the Pearl harbor GB. Then I roll up the sleeves and start the 38.

Thanks again.

Mike, sir. Requesting permission to change subjects...I am now thinking of building a kit I already have in my stash: 1/48 Hasegawa P-38F. I'm still looking for some interesting decals, but I thought I could build this in time for Xmas and give my father his all-time favorite plane.

I'll have to save the T-33 for the next Lockheed GB.

By the way, a happy belated birthday to you!

I hear what you're saying Bill and for those of you who haven't seen an F-22 do its stuff, check this out

Revell AG have a “new tool” 1/72 kit of the F-22 coming out this month and I will be definitely picking one up.

Darren, I have that magazine article that you are talking about and yes I'm definitely going to give mine a dark grey/black paint job as I think that straight black would be just too stark.  Also have a read of this build article by John Heck, he really has nailed the finish on the F-117.

I’ve got to tell you guys that compared to my normal Spitfires, Bf 109s & P-51s, the F-117A in 1/48 is a very large kit

Darren,

have you thought about how you are going to weather your Nighthawk? I am going to use a grey over black faded look I saw in a magazine. I want mine to have a used look.

Well, they have been flying F-22s in varoius stages of completion out of the facility across the runway from me for quite some time now and I am pretty sure that the sign out front does not say BoeingWhistling [:-^].  Lockheed is the primary contractor and handles final assembly in here in Ga.

If you want to see something cool, you should see the F-22 go vert and leave an F-16 in it's dust.

Should be a great build, Darren! As for the F-22, yep, that's allowed due to its affiliation with Lockheed as well as General Dynamics and Boeing.

Thanks a bunch for the very kind words of welcome guys, it's great to be here.

This is a little snap of Al Whitley in the aircraft I will be modeling on his return from the gulf

Also, is the F-22 Raptor allowed for this build or is that considered a Boeing aircraft?

Cheers

LOL!  Thought you might be out enjoying Phase 1... Sounds like "Phase 2" will be a great end to a wonderful day!

And, my singing sounds MUCH better on a forum than it does in person.  Consider yourself lucky I'm not there to sing for you at your party.  The neighbors would prolly come over and beat me up. Black Eye [B)]

Hey Mike,

I've just picked up the Tamiya F-117A Nighthawk along with the Eduard PE set and was wondering if you would like an extra member along for the ride?

I was planning on doing the bird using the kit decals for Bandit 150 Colonel Alton C. 'Al' Whitley, Jr's 813 'Toxic Avenger' as used during 'Desert Storm' in 1991.

Cheers

hk, the fact that in 1993 Lockheed acquired General Dynamics' Fort Worth aircraft division and continued to produce the F-16 under the Lockheed Martin name has me allowing F-16's in this GB. This goes back to the initial idea for the GB, and that was subjects that are affiliated with the Lockheed name, including Lockheed Martin.

Yer still in with your F-16, Frank. Thumbs Up [tup]

Ah, gottcha. I knew I had to have missed something. Though when I went to the link you provided for Lockheed Martin there is no F-16 listed that I could find. Bits of trivia like this one just make it so cool to know!

Phew!  I was looking through my stash to see what I could build here instead of the F-16.  I was looking at a 1/48 U-2R as a potential candidate; wow that thing is a monster!  Maybe if I can finish up the F-16 before the GB ends, I might have a go at one of them.  After seeing the real thing up close at EAA this year, I have a real desire to put one in my case!
