yes in nam there was actuall 2 skyraiders involved in shooting down the mig. the 1/48 tamiya A1-H has the kill marking and i read the article on the firefight and they actually have a debriefing u can listen to on the battle the mig went after the one skyraider and the 2nd skyraider got the angle on the mig and shot it down here is the site with the radio conversation that was taped from the uss intrepid

Death....sinceI was on the page looking up the A-1 kills, I figured I would copy down all the ODS victories.......F-15 or otherwise.

I kinda like the first one....the manuver kill credited to the EF-111   too bad it wasnt a MiG or I'd be tempted to build that one.

Thats a kill with style baybe!

Death, Basicly this is a themed group build and the subject is about aircraft that shot down Mig's. You chose an F-15C as your MiG Killer, now before you start building it do some research on the F-15C and see if there were any that shot down MiG's in Operation Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom or over Afganistan, next see if you can find decals for that F-15C and then build the model as you normally would. Post your progress, ask for advice and help.

The A-1 Skyraider cannot be counted because it was a close support aircraft and I dont there was one that shot down a Mig. I could be wrong.

Cool, I'm on it.  I'm lucky, this 1/32 Tamiya kit only cost me $2 worth of raffle tickets.  And it's a beautiful kit.

Arrrgh.......

I made a promise not to buy anymore kits until I finished the ones in the stash, but I dont have any MiG killers in there.   ( A few Migs....no killers)

Count me in for a F-86F....probably the 1/48 Academy kit.  I have no idea on which specific aircraft to model, but I figure I'll have lots and lots  (and lots) of choices.

 Ok....Im off to Sprue Brothers........

(Wife is gonna kill me.)

I had explained to ww2 on first page that the plane need not have the kill markings. You can add them or leave them off... its your choice. The point being is to build the way you want with no rules or restrictions other than your model be of an aircraft that has a Mig Kill.

This should not be surprising since Marines are primarily tasked with Close Air Suport and should not be off chasing Migs to start off with.

However there were I think 18 or so Naval F-8 victories......actually the best kill ratio of the war belonged to the F-8

One F-8 Mig kill I am familar with was that of U.S. Navy Cmd. Richard Bellenger serving with VF-162 flying F-8E's from the USS Oriskany shot down his first Mig in 1966.

Do you have room for me?  I'm about to start a Tamiya 1/32 F-4C Phantom II.  It has markings for Col. Robin Olds' mount Scat XXVII.  The kill count would be 2 Mig 17's and 2 Mig 21's.

Hey Rand, I am definetly in on this GB. I think it's a great idea and perfect timing for me as I am wrapping up some other GB's right now so the timing is great. I have my own personal Gb's that I am doing which is to build as many Marine Corp birds as I can.I have an F-8 Crusader in my stash from Monogram with USMC decals so I would like to find out if any USMC Crusader bagged a Mig?. Thanks for the website cj I will look it up in a minute to check but if anyone knows of a Crusader kill please let me know. If that is not a candidate then I will build a F-4J from VF-31 flown by CMD Flynn in June of '72 when he splashed a Mig. I have a 1/48 kit and decals for it ready to go. As a foot note my friend also flew that same bird during there time at Yankee station. It is currently in the Air and Space Museum (udvar hazy ) in Marine corp markings,  yeaahhhh. Very sore point with the VF-31 Veterans.

Ach.......didnt notice the 'G' vs the 'E' that you were asking about.   Sorry.

I'll probably join this GB myself, but at the moment I have no earthly idea what to work on.

I still got a couple of half-completed tanks on my desk so it may be a bit.

cj...great site and quite a list. Unfortunately for me there is not one F-84G to be seen there.

Fear not though, because I did find this on it....

7-Nov-1950USAF36 FBS, 8 FBWF-51DHoward Tanner20mmMiG-15

...so I will use my Tamiya 1/48 F-51D. The kit has markings for a bird from the same unit (36th FBS, 8th FBW), just a different pilot (Capt. J. W. Rogers). Plus, I have a few goodies to add to it....a Black Box 'pit, some Eduard PE, and a nice set of Ultracast exhausts. Big Smile [:D]

So, in light of all this info, I would like to change my entry to the F-51D, because there's no way I'm backing out of this GB.

No voting on badges, you can just take what looks best to you. You can add badge as long as your participating. The plane you model will represent does not have to have kill marks unless you want to add them. I plan to add mine because when Cuningham and Driscol got thier 3rd, 4th and 5th kills they already had two MiG kills which were marked on the F-4 on the top of intake splitter plates on both sides. It might look better adding them to but it's not necessary. I'm going leave up to GB members to decide how they want thier Mig Killers to look.

I know there were several F-15 kills during ODS.....I was just answering the question regarding the f-18C victories.

For info try ACIG.org.....they pretty much have every aerial victory from almost every war since WWII immaginable.

Here are some of the F-84 victories I found.....(may be incomplete since there are buku victories to sort through during Korea.)
