Well, I finally completed the Corsair

Its finished in what i think is heavily weathered for a Navy plane in '45. Unfortunately, my pics don't show the subtleties of the weathering very well (ie fuel staining etc) and the  variations in the finish.

Once again, Cam - Thanks for this build! It's been a blast and a nice break from my major project.

Chris and Drew. Great jobs.  Papa-John is reading, watching, taking lessons from you pros and learning.

At a stand still, no modeling for me.  Basement under major reconstruction.  Dirtiest part taking place over the next couple of weeks.  Had to pack everything up and over everyting in the dungeon.

Oh, well just like looking in a rear view mirror, what you see is in the past, look out the windshield and see the whats coming up.

Readers Digest Condensed Version for my local:

Yesterday +3 Celsius,  went tobogganing with the grandkids

Today - at 0600 hours (6am) -8 degrees Celcius.  Storm coming (blizzard, fortunately not much snow, lots of wind up to 70 km/h about 44 mph) - 23 Celius this afternoon.  Over night -30 degrees. 

Tommorow - Cold - -36 degrees Celsius.  Windchild - get this - cool alert - are you sitting down - ready  a balmy -50 degress celsius

Well, I got some time to work on the Val this weekend.  I'm doing 3 group builds right now and was planning on finishing my A-10 for the IMS2 build.  I was out of Tamiya tape and was going to use the #M blue painters tape to paint the 2nd part on the hawg.  WASN't GUNNA HAPPEN!!!  That stuff is fine for large coverings, but fine line control it just wouldn't stick.  So I have to wait.  But i can prolly finish the Val in the meantime.  James (Jmart) sent me some PE for this, but after fiddling around (it was for the Hase Kit) i decided to wait until i got a Hase kit to use it so i didn't ruin the nice gift he gave me.  The resin wheels are OUTSTANDING!!!!  They blow the kit wheels completely away.  The only complaint about the Fujimi kit is the color callouts and the huge SEAMS on the engine cover.  SO i broke out the liquid plastic and and filled in the crevice.  I have to wait for 3-4 days to let it dry before sanding. See my A-10  in the IMS 2 build about the liquid plastic.  All in all this kit is going great.  One other thing about Fujimi.  The plastic is really soft but it is really heavy when all the main parts are assembled.  THis thing weighs more than my Revell 1/48th B-25!!!  Anyway, on to the pics.  Any Crits are encourged.  The bottom seam looks big but it is smooth.  I also noticed, after i glued the engine cover on, that i forgot to paint the interior of it!!!!!  I hate when that happens.  Oh well, time to grab the really small brush

Yes it is cold.

Tobogganing - Well with the cold we have a fair amount of snow.  Took the grandkids out to the local hill area - actually a deep ditch - which is close to the house.  Had a round plactic flying saucer and a plastic toboggan and they slide down the hill.  After returning home it was hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Took some pictures, when I get to my computer after it is uncovered can post a pic is you wish. 

The snow has now started.

Toboganning- when everyone in the Bay Area jumps into their Lexus' and goes up Saturday morning to "see the snow"!

It's been really cold and rainy for two weeks. Ms. Bondo was down in Santa Fe where it was 0 deg., but clear.

Finished two models! Hope to start the F-84 soon. Thanks, Chris!

Very nice progress pics Mists. I hate it when you forget to paint something that is buttoned up. I too just finished an F-4 and when completed noticed I forgot the HUD. URRRGGGHHHH. The Val is comming along nicely.

Jim,  Nice job on Val's interior - alot more colorful than a typical interior green cockpit.

TLP, That's one of the big reasons I like brush painting w/ Acrylics.  I can brush paint at the kitchen table or in the living room - without having to worry about fumes, overspray, or being warm enuf.

Yeah, think so too! I'm glad that we don't have that cold here. I live on the south west coast of Sweden and the winds from the coast makes the winters feel much colder than they are. I love having nice white snow during the winter so the kids can go playing, build snowmen and all the other stuff kids do. Days when it's cold and the sun is shining, make for lovely days with the family, but sadly we haven't had any snow this year. Hot chocolate is nice to have when you've been out in the cold with the family.

Same here BTW, too cold outside to use the spray booth (unheated attached garage), not too cold for ME but for the aerosolized paints... so, doing a lot of sanding/fitting/gluing of a bunch of kits.... cheers! James

I'm still on the hunt for the correct or at lest the best fit of "Nakajima green". Some refer to it as "Bamboo".

I promise I'll post some pics on Wednesday, but there's not much to it: office with some photoetch and the main floater.

Just spent an enjoyable hour reading all the posts in this GB. I saw the 2006 SS Gb and was planning on joining in 07 if there was another one.

Too many things happened last year and I didn't have much time for modelling / posting.

I'll be a sure starter for Xmas 08 SS GB if there is another one !

Good luck with the builds Guys, I'll keep a keen eye out !

I used Tamiya XF-4 Yellow Green with a little JN grey mixed to tone it down.  I used the same color when i did my B6-n2 Jill.  I first painted it Green Zinc Cromate but WOW wrong color.  Then i sampled Yellow Zinc Cromate and was TOO yellow.  J-aircraft.com said somewherethis was the main color for all early war naval birds.  XF-4 is probably too bright but i like it.
