Looks like you've pulled ahead of me! Of course, finals week is looming for me, so there hasn't been much time for the work bench on my end. It really looks great. I hope that my Tri-color comes out nicely like yours!

Snooping around to catchup on the remaining works in progress.  Looking good.  Lots of great looking builds.

For me, mine looks the same as the day I received it.  Oh my mistake the shrink wrap got torn off and the instructions read, well looked at.  Getting closer to starting this SSGB project.  Bought some paint, all my building tools, etc are finally all out of hibernation and dusted off.  Not a permanent work site, but will do, only if I can keep my daughter's two cats off the table and out of my hair.

Dabau at least I no longer feel lonely in the non start up phase.  I'm so far behind, that I think I'm ahead and leading.

I havde two partially completed on the bench.  My Avro Arrow is now at the phase of putting the non white colours on.  Had an incident and broke the little front extending piece (whatever it is called) section and tried to glue the little pin back and it doesn't look right, so it will be a stubby nose.  Going to have to mix colours for try in simulate the day glo orange.  My Dodge SuperBee will remain second as the SSGB will be next up after the Arrow is down and mounted in flight.

PaPa-John.

Thad.  I might be wrong but didn't you mean for this to go into the SSGB3 thread.

Sorry to keep dragging this up but here is the latest update. All painted and panell wash done and decals done. I had a major problem with the fuselage stars as they were the same size as the wing ones. They were overlapping and I had a panic attack. Took it off and thanks to the stash I stole new ones from my Tamiya corsair kit that I have AM decals for it. Put a lot of the fiddly bits on and only the major parts left. Going to dullcoat it tonight so now for my question. This aircraft was written off while still quite new so would it be right to leave the top glossy ?

I like the finish of the topcoat so I am leaning toward to keeping it.

Thanks for the comments guy's. I have a full head of steam going now and I can see the light at the end of the tunnell. I am not on the road too much this month so I am getting a lot of bench time. I was in a slump earlier this year but the modelling bug is back in full gear and having fun again. The dive flaps are up next and they look like a nightmare so I will tackle them tonight. Along with some work on the previously mentioned 3 ME 109's I am doing production line style. If I start a project I finish it ( hopefully on time ).

Thanks for all the encouragement guy's, got her just about finished tonight. All I have to do is paint the antenna and run a wire from mast to mast. The dive flaps were no problem but the canopies wont sit just quite right. I will post final pics soon. Merry Christmas to you all.

Well guy's I am calling this one done. First I would like to thank Jim, ( Mists086) for sending me such a great kit. I am beginning to love these AccuMins kits, this is my second one and the detail and fit was excellent. Now for a little history on this aircraft. It is an SBD-5 from VB-16 as it was during the Tarawa campaign abord the USS Lexington. There were only 2 dash 5 at the time so they were new aircraft so I kept the weathering to a minimum. They were both written off during the battle due to hard landings on deck. I built it OOB except for Mike Grant instrument dials and Eduard PE belts. Painted with MM enamels and weathered with pastel wash in the panels and small ammounts for exhaust stains. Once again, thanks to Jon for being our fearless leader and Jim for sending such a great kit.

All comments and critique is always welcome. This was a great GB with a lot of excellent work done here.

Just a quick edit that I forgot. The decals for the fuselage national markings were the same size as the wing decals and as a result were way too large and overlapped themselves. I pulled a set from my Corsair kit that I have AM decals for. The canopies fit on top of each other but the fit is a little tight, you may notice the main missing in a few shots where it fell off from being upside down, ooppss. The colour under the main flap is interior green and I must change that to red. Finally the base in some of the photos is a WWII carrier deck that I got also from ACCUMINS. Not bad but it's basically card stock

First of all, stunning! How did you do the prop blurr in the last pic? Really great stuff. You said she survived which battle?

Hey bondo, thanks for the comment, the aircraft was written off during the Tarawa campaign due to a hard landing. I was just blowing on the prop to get it spinning it moved that easily.

Fantastic piece of work.  You guys amaze me.

Mine is still sitting in the box.  Main project right now is to try to get the kitchen down and th basement completed before Christmas.  Well the basement will be done except for mudding and taping, the flooring and ceiling (funds drying up).  Then I can get serious about modeling.
